How to delete a casino app

How to delete a casino app: on iPhone, touch and hold the icon and choose Remove App, then Delete App; on Android, touch and hold and choose Uninstall. It takes seconds, but deleting the app doesn't close your account or move your balance. This guide covers both phones, what stays behind, and how to keep the app off for good if that's the aim.

Key takeaways

  • Deleting a casino app removes it from your phone, but your account, balance and personal data stay with the operator.
  • Withdraw any balance and let pending payments finish before you delete, or use the website later to do it.
  • Casumo's iPhone app and 10bet's app combine casino and sportsbook, so deleting either removes both.
  • To stop an app coming back, pair deletion with Screen Time, Digital Wellbeing, Gamban, a bank block or GAMSTOP.
  • If gambling is the reason, closing the account or self-excluding does far more than deleting the app.

How to delete a casino app: the short answer

Casino apps uninstall like any other app. There's no special process, no fee and no need to contact the operator first. What matters is what you do before and after, because the app on your phone is only a way into an account that keeps running without it.

People delete casino apps for different reasons: to free up storage, to clean up an old account, to swap to a different app, or to put some distance between themselves and gambling. The steps to remove the app are the same in every case, but the follow-up isn't. If you want to stop gambling, go straight to the section on keeping the app off your phone and our guide on how to close a casino account.

For other everyday app tasks, our casino app guides hub covers updating, clearing the cache and permissions.

Delete a casino app on iPhone or iPad: two ways

On an iPhone or iPad, you can remove a casino app from the Home Screen or from Settings. Both leave your account untouched.

From the Home Screen

  1. Find the casino app's icon on your Home Screen or in the App Library.
  2. Touch and hold the icon until a menu appears.
  3. Tap Remove App.
  4. Tap Delete App, then confirm with Delete.

From Settings, to see how much space it uses

  1. Open Settings and tap General.
  2. Tap iPhone Storage (or iPad Storage) and wait for the list to load.
  3. Tap the casino app to see its size and the data it holds.
  4. Tap Delete App and confirm.

Offload or delete?

The storage screen also offers Offload App. Offloading removes the app itself but keeps its documents and data on the phone, and leaves the icon in place so it reinstalls with one tap. That's handy for space, but it keeps the app one tap away, so choose Delete App if you want it gone properly.

How to delete a casino app on Android

On Android phones, the wording of menus varies by manufacturer and Android version, but the options below work on most devices.

From the home screen or app drawer

  1. Touch and hold the casino app's icon.
  2. Tap Uninstall, or drag the icon to Uninstall at the top of the screen.
  3. Confirm when asked.

From the Google Play Store

  1. Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Manage apps & device, then the Manage tab.
  3. Tick the casino app and tap the bin icon, or open the app's page and tap Uninstall.

You can also go through your phone's Settings, under Apps, then choose the casino app and Uninstall. If the app came from outside the Play Store as an APK file, it uninstalls the same way; there's more on that below.

What deleting a casino app does and doesn't do

This is the part most guides skip. Your casino account lives on the operator's systems, not on your phone, so removing the app changes far less than people expect.

Effects of deleting a casino app
QuestionAfter you delete the app
Is my account closed? No, it stays open
What happens to my balance? It stays in your account; you can withdraw through the website or by reinstalling
Do pending withdrawals stop? No, they carry on as normal
Do push notifications stop?Yes, the app can't send them once it's gone
Do marketing emails and texts stop? No, change your marketing preferences in your account
Are my deposit limits kept?Yes, limits belong to the account, not the app
Is my personal data deleted? No, ask the operator if you want data deleted
Can I still log in on the website?Yes, with the same details

One useful side effect is that push notifications end the moment the app goes. Emails and texts are separate, and you control them through your account's marketing preferences; see our guide on how to turn off casino app notifications for both.

Our answer on what happens to your balance if you delete the app goes into the money side in more detail.

Before you delete: withdraw your balance and tidy the account

You can do all of this after deleting, through the operator's website, but it's simpler while the app is still on your phone.

  1. Check your balance, including any bonus funds, and note what can be withdrawn.
  2. Withdraw your cash balance to your usual method; our guide on how to withdraw from a casino app covers the process.
  3. Wait for any pending withdrawal to be approved. UK casinos can't let you cancel one, so it will complete either way.
  4. Screenshot or download your transaction history if you want a record.
  5. Turn off marketing emails, texts and calls in your account preferences.
  6. If you want the account closed rather than just the app removed, ask support before you delete.

UK rules say a business can't confiscate your money because you didn't log in within a set time, but Gambling Commission guidance allows dormant account fees after a reminder. Withdrawing before you walk away avoids any doubt.

How much space deleting a casino app frees up

Casino apps vary a lot in size. These are the download sizes shown on the UK App Store listings for our five partner apps. The space an app takes once installed can be larger, because it stores cached images and game files over time.

App Store download sizes for five UK casino apps
App (App Store name)SizeTypeRequires
10bet: Sports Betting & Casino112.3 MBCombined sportsbook and casinoiOS 16.0 or later
Coral Casino: Slots & Games101.6 MBStandalone casinoiOS 18.0 or later
Ladbrokes Casino Games & Slots101.2 MBStandalone casinoiOS 18.0 or later
Casumo Casino & Sports Betting52.5 MBCombined casino and sportsbookiOS 15.0 or later
PlayOJO Real Money Casino25.4 MBCasino onlyiOS 15.0 or later

Added together, the five come to 393.0 MB before any cached data. If space is the only reason you're deleting, clearing a casino app's cache may be enough, and our guide to casino app storage space explains what builds up and why.

Deleting a combined sportsbook and casino app

Some casino apps are separate from their brand's betting app, and some aren't. That changes what you lose when you delete.

  • Coral and Ladbrokes publish dedicated casino apps that are separate from their sportsbook apps. Removing the casino app leaves a sportsbook app in place if you have one installed.
  • Casumo's iPhone app, Casumo Casino & Sports Betting, combines both. Deleting it removes the sportsbook as well.
  • 10bet's app, 10bet: Sports Betting & Casino, is one combined app on both iPhone and Android, so the same applies.
  • PlayOJO is a casino-only brand, so there's no sportsbook to think about.

Our explainer on what a standalone casino app is covers the difference, and the Casumo iPhone app page has its listing details. The reverse is also true: deleting a sportsbook app doesn't delete a separate casino app, so check both if you want all gambling apps gone.

Your personal data after you delete a casino app

Deleting the app removes what it stored on your phone, but not the information the operator holds about you. The store listings show what each app collects. On iOS, Coral's privacy label lists data used to track you (user content and usage data) and a long list of data linked to you, including financial info and identifiers. PlayOJO's label lists only identifiers.

On Google Play, the data safety sections for all five partner apps say data deletion can be requested. That request goes to the operator, not Google, and deleting the app doesn't make it for you. Ask support if you want your data deleted, bearing in mind that operators may need to keep some records.

Our guide on how to read a casino app privacy label explains each category, including how the Google Play data safety section differs.

Removing a casino app installed from an APK file

If you installed a casino app on Android from an APK file rather than the Play Store, uninstall it using the same steps above. Then take one extra step: since Android 8.0, permission to install apps from outside the Play Store is given app by app, so revoke it for the browser or file manager you used. Android lets you withdraw that approval at any time.

Google Play Protect also checks your device for potentially harmful apps from other sources and can deactivate or remove them, according to Google's Play Protect help page (opens in a new tab). Our guides to casino APK files and Google Play Protect and casino apps go further.

How to stop a casino app coming back

Reinstalling takes seconds, so if you're deleting a casino app to cut back on gambling, add a barrier that's harder to undo. Several work together, and none costs much effort to set up.

Ways to keep gambling apps off your phone
ToolWhat it doesCovers
Screen Time (iPhone)Can block installing apps or restrict apps by age ratingYour iPhone or a family member's
Digital Wellbeing (Android)App timers close an app when time runs out; Focus mode pauses chosen appsYour Android phone
GambanPaid app that blocks gambling sites and apps on all your devicesPhones, tablets and computers
Bank gambling blockStops gambling payments from your card or accountAny app or site using that card
GAMSTOPSelf-exclusion from all online gambling companies licensed in Great BritainEvery UK-licensed app and site

On iPhone, Apple's Screen Time guide (opens in a new tab) shows how Content & Privacy Restrictions can set Installing Apps to Blocked, which stops any app being reinstalled. On Android, Google's Digital Wellbeing help (opens in a new tab) explains app timers and Focus mode. Our step-by-step guides cover blocking casino apps with Screen Time, Digital Wellbeing and Gamban.

The strongest single step is GAMSTOP, which you can set for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. If you're worried about your gambling, the National Gambling Helpline is free and open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133.

Reinstalling a casino app later

If you deleted an app only for space, reinstalling is simple. Real-money casino apps must be free to download under both Apple's and Google's rules, and you log in with your existing details. Your account, balance and limits will be as you left them.

Check that your phone still meets the app's minimum. Coral and Ladbrokes need iOS 18.0 or later on iPhone, while PlayOJO and Casumo need iOS 15.0. Our guide to downloading a casino app on iPhone covers finding the genuine listing, and each partner's iPhone app page shows its listing details.

Swapping apps? Welcome offers at three UK casino apps

If you're deleting one casino app to try another, these partner offers are for new customers aged 18+, and terms apply. Deleting an app doesn't make you a new customer at the same operator, and only deposit what you can afford to lose.

Coral: from 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027, deposit (certain types excluded) and bet £10 or more on slots to get 100 free spins on selected games. Each spin is worth 10p, you have 48 hours to accept and 7 days to use them, and winnings carry no wagering. Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don't count.

Ladbrokes: deposit and play £10 or more on slots for 50 free spins a day over your first 10 days, a maximum of 500. They're 10p each on selected games, need claiming before 23:59 each day, last 7 days and have no wagering. Prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers don't qualify. Because the same company runs Coral, you may not be able to open new accounts at both.

PlayOJO: deposit at least £10 for the first time and get 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each, with no wagering and winnings paid in cash. It excludes Northern Ireland, can't be combined with other offers and is only available through the designated link. At 25.4 MB, its iPhone app is the smallest of the five; see the PlayOJO app review.

Frequently asked questions

Does deleting a casino app close my account?

No, deleting the app only removes it from your phone, and your account stays open with its balance and settings. You can still log in on the operator's website or reinstall the app later. To close the account, contact the operator's support team and ask, or use the account closure or self-exclusion options in your settings. Our guide on how to close a casino account and the answer to can I delete my casino app account explain the options.

What happens to my money if I delete a casino app?

Your money stays in your casino account, because the balance is held by the operator, not on your phone. You can withdraw it later through the website or by reinstalling the app. UK rules say operators can't confiscate your funds because you didn't log in within a set time, though dormant account fees are allowed after a reminder. It's simplest to withdraw before deleting. See how to withdraw from a casino app.

How do I delete a casino app on iPhone?

Touch and hold the app icon, tap Remove App, then tap Delete App and confirm. You can also go to Settings, General, iPhone Storage, choose the app and tap Delete App, which shows how much space it uses first. Avoid Offload App if you want the app fully gone, because it keeps the app's data and leaves the icon in place. Our iPhone casino apps page covers other settings.

How do I uninstall a casino app on Android?

Touch and hold the app icon and tap Uninstall, or drag it to Uninstall, then confirm. You can also use the Play Store's Manage apps & device screen or your phone's Settings under Apps. Menu names vary by manufacturer, but every Android phone offers one of these routes. If the app came from an APK file, revoke install permission for the browser you used too. Uninstalling doesn't affect your account or balance in any way.

Will I still get emails and texts after deleting a casino app?

Yes, possibly, because marketing emails, texts and calls are tied to your account, not the app. Deleting the app stops push notifications only. Since 1 May 2025, UK operators must let you choose which channels and products you get marketing about, so change your preferences in your account settings or ask support. Our guide to stopping casino marketing texts has the steps.

How much storage does a casino app take?

It varies widely. On the UK App Store, 10bet's app is 112.3 MB, Coral's 101.6 MB, Ladbrokes' 101.2 MB, Casumo's 52.5 MB and PlayOJO's 25.4 MB. Installed apps can grow beyond their download size as they cache images and game files. Clearing the cache can claw back space without deleting the app. Our answer on how much storage casino apps take and the storage space guide explain more.

How can I stop myself reinstalling a casino app?

Add a barrier that takes more effort to undo than reinstalling. On iPhone, Screen Time can block app installs; on Android, Digital Wellbeing app timers limit use. Gamban blocks gambling apps and sites across devices, a bank block stops gambling payments, and GAMSTOP excludes you from every UK-licensed online operator for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. See blocking casino apps with Screen Time and GAMSTOP.

Does deleting a casino app delete my personal data?

No, it only removes data stored on your phone. The operator keeps your account information. The Google Play data safety sections for Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet all say deletion can be requested, but you have to ask the operator, usually through support, and some records may need to be kept. Our guide on how casino apps use your data explains what's collected and why.
