How to clear a casino app cache

How to clear a casino app cache depends on your phone. On Android, open Settings, then Apps, pick the casino app, tap Storage and choose Clear cache. iPhones have no per-app cache button, so you offload or reinstall the app instead. Either way your balance is safe, because it's held by the casino, not on your phone.

Key takeaways

  • On Android, Clear cache removes temporary files and usually keeps you logged in; Clear storage resets the app completely.
  • iPhone has no Clear cache button for apps: offload and reinstall, or delete and reinstall, to get the same effect.
  • A clear-out can fix display glitches, stuck loading and odd behaviour after an update, but not account blocks, pending withdrawals or location errors.
  • Finish any game round first, and have your password and any two-step codes ready.

How to clear a casino app cache: the short version

A cache is a store of temporary files an app keeps so it doesn't have to download the same images and game assets every time. It usually speeds things up. When a file gets corrupted or out of date after an update, though, the app can show broken images, freeze on a loading screen or behave strangely. Wiping the cache makes it fetch fresh copies.

Clearing a casino app cache on Android

The route is similar on Samsung, Google Pixel and other Android phones, though the menu names shift a little between makers and versions.

  1. Finish or leave any game you're in and close the casino app.
  2. Open Settings and tap Apps (on some phones, Apps & notifications, then See all apps).
  3. Scroll to the casino app and tap it. Check the name matches the app you installed, for example Coral™ Casino: Slots & Games.
  4. Tap Storage, or Storage & cache.
  5. Tap Clear cache. The cache figure should drop to zero or close to it.
  6. Reopen the app and check whether the problem has gone.

If you use a Samsung or a Pixel, our Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel pages cover the device side in more detail.

Clear cache vs clear storage: which should you use?

Start with Clear cache. It's the lighter option and rarely changes anything you'd notice except that the app reloads some images. Clear storage (called Clear data on some phones) goes further and returns the app to how it was when first installed.

Because limits and self-exclusion are recorded on your account rather than in the app, clearing data can't be used to get round them, and it can't undo a limit you've set. That's by design. See deposit limits in casino apps and self-exclusion from casino apps.

Can you clear a casino app cache on iPhone?

Not directly. iOS doesn't offer a Clear cache button for individual apps, and none of our partners' App Store listings mention one in the app. You have two ways to get a clean start.

Offload and reinstall (keeps your data)

  1. Open Settings, tap General, then iPhone Storage.
  2. Tap the casino app in the list.
  3. Tap Offload App and confirm.
  4. Tap Reinstall App on the same screen, or tap the icon on your home screen.

Delete and reinstall (a full reset)

Press and hold the app icon, choose Remove App, then Delete App. Reinstall from the App Store by searching for the exact store name, such as Ladbrokes Casino Games & Slots or PlayOJO Real Money Casino, and checking the seller. You'll need to log in again. Our iPhone download guide covers the reinstall.

Clearing the cache for a casino website or home screen shortcut

If you play through the casino's mobile site, or a shortcut saved with our guide to adding a casino web app to your home screen, the cache lives in your browser.

  • Safari on iPhone: Safari's settings let you clear history and website data for everything, or remove data for a single site through the advanced website data list. Depending on your iOS version, Safari's settings sit under Settings, Apps, Safari, or directly under Settings.
  • Chrome on Android: open Chrome's menu, choose the option to delete browsing data, tick cookies and cached images, and pick a time range. To clear one site only, use site settings for that address.
  • Samsung Internet: look in the browser's settings for personal browsing data.

Clearing cookies signs you out of the casino site, so have your login details ready.

Casino app problems a cache clear can fix, and ones it can't

A cache clear is a fix for problems on your phone. It does nothing for problems on your account, which are the cause of a lot of 'broken app' complaints.

Before you clear a casino app cache: what to have ready

A minute of preparation saves a frustrating lock-out.

  • Finish your round. Don't clear data in the middle of a spin or a live hand. If an app has already crashed mid-game, read what happens to a bet if your app crashes first.
  • Know your password. If your phone filled it in automatically, check your password manager has it saved.
  • Have two-step codes to hand. If you use an authenticator app or text codes, keep that phone nearby. The NCSC's 2SV guidance (opens in a new tab) explains why it's worth keeping on.
  • Note any open withdrawal. Under the Gambling Commission's rules you can't cancel a withdrawal once requested, and clearing the app won't change its status.

After clearing: logging in and checking your settings

  1. Open the app and log in with your email or username and password.
  2. Complete any two-step check the casino asks for.
  3. If the app asks again for notification or location permission, choose what you're comfortable with. Our guide to casino app permissions explains each one.
  4. Check the problem has gone before you start playing.
  5. Look at your account's safer-gambling settings to confirm your limits are still in place, as they should be.

If biometric login was switched on, you may need to turn it on again in the app. See Face ID and Touch ID on casino apps.

When to reinstall the casino app instead

If clearing the cache and storage hasn't helped, a reinstall from the official store is the next step. It also makes sure you're running the latest version, which the NCSC recommends (opens in a new tab) for security as well as stability.

Install only from the official listing. On Google Play, the Coral Casino app (opens in a new tab) is published by LC International Limited, and the Ladbrokes Casino app (opens in a new tab) lists Ladbrokes Mobile Development with LC International Limited as the contact entity. Google Play Protect (opens in a new tab) checks Play apps before download and scans for harmful apps from other sources, which is one more reason not to swap to an APK when troubleshooting. See how to update a casino app and casino app not working for the next steps.

Cache, privacy and shared phones

A casino app's cache can hold images of games you've opened recently. On a phone you share, someone else may see them, or open the app if you stay logged in. A cache clear isn't a privacy tool on its own; signing out is.

If you're clearing data because you want to stop playing, a time-out or self-exclusion does far more. The National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24/7.

Reinstalling a casino app with a welcome offer

Clearing a cache doesn't make you a new customer, and welcome offers are for new accounts only. If you're starting fresh with a different casino, these partner apps are on the official stores. 18+ and terms apply.

  • Coral: new players, 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027. Deposit (some methods excluded) and bet £10 or more on slots to get 100 free spins on selected games, 10p each. Accept within 48 hours; use within 7 days; no wagering on spin winnings. Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don't qualify.
  • Ladbrokes: new customers who deposit and spend £10 or more on slots get 50 free spins a day for the first 10 days (500 maximum), 10p each on selected games. Claim before 23:59 each day; valid 7 days; no wagering. Prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers deposits don't qualify.
  • PlayOJO: new UK customers (excluding Northern Ireland) making a first deposit of £10 or more get 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each. No wagering; winnings paid in cash; not combinable with other offers; only through the designated offer link.

Spins are for slots; table and live games are usually excluded. Coral and Ladbrokes share an operator, so one person may not be able to open new accounts at both. Our Coral app review and PlayOJO app review have the details.

Clearing a cache is the same on every casino app. These partner apps are on the official stores if you need a clean reinstall. 18+, terms apply.

Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open another; check the terms first.

Frequently asked questions

Does clearing a casino app cache delete my account?

No. Clearing the cache only removes temporary files on your phone. Your account, balance, transaction history and safer-gambling limits are held by the casino and stay exactly as they were. Even Clear storage, the stronger option, only signs you out on that device. If you want to close the account itself, follow how to close a casino account.

Will clearing the cache log me out of the casino app?

Usually not. Clear cache on Android normally keeps your login, because sign-in details are stored as app data rather than cache. Clear storage, deleting the app or clearing browser cookies will sign you out. Make sure you know your password before you start. If you've forgotten it, see what happens if I forget my casino app password?

How do I clear the cache on a casino app on iPhone?

You can't clear an individual app's cache on iPhone, because iOS doesn't offer that button. Instead, go to Settings, General, iPhone Storage, tap the casino app and choose Offload App, then reinstall it. For a full reset, delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store. Our iPhone casino apps page covers related settings.

How often should I clear a casino app's cache?

Only when something's wrong. The cache exists to make the app faster, so clearing it routinely just means the app downloads the same images again. Clear it if you see broken thumbnails, stuck loading screens or odd behaviour after an update, or if you need storage space. Our casino app storage space guide shows how much room each partner app takes.

Can clearing the cache fix a pending withdrawal?

No. A pending withdrawal is being processed on the casino's side, and nothing you do on your phone changes that. Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, say withdrawals are approved by a review team first, then take from instantly to five banking days depending on the method. Read why is my casino app withdrawal pending? for the usual reasons.

Does clearing a casino app's data remove my deposit limit?

No. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are set on your casino account, not stored in the app, so clearing data or reinstalling has no effect on them. That protects you if you set a limit during a calm moment. To change a limit, use the account's safer-gambling settings, where increases usually come with a delay; at PlayOJO, for example, an increase takes 24 hours while a decrease is immediate. See setting deposit limits in a casino app.

Is it safe to clear a casino app's cache in the middle of a game?

It's better not to. Finish the round or leave the table first, because closing the app mid-game can leave you unsure how the round ended. The game's result is recorded by the casino, and you can check it in your account history afterwards. Read what happens if my app crashes mid-game? for how operators handle interrupted rounds.

What's the difference between clearing cache and reinstalling?

A cache clear removes temporary files but leaves the app and its saved data in place. Reinstalling removes everything and downloads the latest version from the store, so it also fixes problems caused by an outdated or partly installed app. Try the cache first, then storage, then reinstall. Our guide on casino app won't open follows the same order.
