How we review casino apps

How we review casino apps: BestApps checks every UK casino app against the same eight criteria, using only published facts from app stores, operators and the Gambling Commission. Here's what we look at, how much each part counts and what a score means.

Our approach: published facts, not testing

We review casino apps from what is published, not from our own play. We don't claim to have downloaded, played, deposited, withdrawn or timed anything. Instead, we read the Apple App Store and Google Play listings (checked on 20 October 2026 for our partners), each operator's terms and help pages, and its Gambling Commission register entry. Offers were checked on 5 October 2026.

That approach has a clear benefit: every statement in a review can be checked against its source. We don't use App Store or Google Play star ratings.

The eight criteria in every casino app review

What we check in each casino app review
CriterionWhat we look at
Licence and ownerThe licence holder and its Gambling Commission account
App detailsiOS and Android listings: store name, publisher, iOS version, size, standalone or combined app
Welcome offerThe headline and its terms, including wagering, exclusions and expiry
GamesWhat the operator publishes about its game lobby
Payments and withdrawalsMethods listed, published withdrawal times and fees
SupportContact channels and published hours
Safer-gambling toolsDeposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion
Privacy labelsWhat the App Store label and Google Play data safety section say

How much each criterion counts

We don't publish a points formula, but the weighting follows a clear order of importance.

  • The licence is a gate, not a score. An app must be run by a Gambling Commission licensee before we score it at all.
  • Payments and withdrawals count most. Getting your money in and out is what matters most to readers, so clear, published withdrawal times and no fees count strongly in an app's favour.
  • App details and support come next. A dedicated casino app with modest requirements, and support you can reach, both help an app's score. Missing phone support or unpublished hours count against it.
  • Safer-gambling tools always count. Every licensed app must offer the basics, so we look for tools and information beyond the minimum.
  • Offers and games count less. They change often, and an offer's value depends on its terms, so they carry less weight than the app's lasting features.
  • Privacy labels add detail. We note whether data is used to track you across other companies' apps.

What our partner scores are

Our five partner apps carry an editorial score out of 5. A score is an editorial summary built from published facts, not a test result.

Ladbrokes4.2
PlayOJO4.2
Casumo4.2
10bet3.8

As an example of how facts drive a score, Coral publishes a dedicated casino app, says it charges no withdrawal fees and gives Visa Fast Funds payout times. 10bet's casino sits inside a sportsbook app, and its help pages don't publish a minimum deposit or withdrawal fees. Read the full reviews of Coral and 10bet to see the detail.

How we review apps that aren't partners

We review other UK casino apps with no commercial relationship using the same criteria and sources, but without a score, and we never link to their sites or store listings. Where a brand's facts aren't published, we say so. The casino app reviews hub lists every app we cover, and our scoring explained guide gives worked examples.

Keeping reviews up to date

Apps change with every update, and offers and payment methods change too. We date every review and update it when the published facts change. If you spot an error, email hello@bestapps.casino; our editorial policy explains how we correct pages.
