Can I delete my casino app account?

Can I delete my casino app account? Yes, you can ask any UK-licensed operator to close your account, but deleting the app from your phone doesn't do it. The account, balance and data stay with the operator until you contact them. Withdraw your money first, then choose between a simple closure, a request to delete your data or self-exclusion.

Key takeaways

  • Uninstalling a casino app leaves your account open, with your balance and details intact.
  • Withdraw any cash balance before you ask for closure.
  • Most operators close accounts through live chat or email; the app may also have a closure option in account settings.
  • If gambling is the reason, self-exclusion or GAMSTOP is stronger than a plain closure.
  • Google Play's data safety section for each of our partner apps says deletion of data can be requested.

Can I delete my casino app account? Yes, but not by deleting the app

Your casino account lives on the operator's systems, not on your phone. Removing the app is like deleting a shop's app: your account with the shop is still there. To close it, you have to ask the operator.

That matters for three reasons. Any money left in the account stays there. The operator keeps sending marketing if you've agreed to it. And if you reinstall the app or open the website, you can log straight back in.

If you just want the icon gone, our guide on how to delete a casino app covers iPhone and Android. If you want the account itself shut, read on. This page sits in our casino app questions section.

Deleting the app, closing the account or self-excluding

People say "delete my account" to mean quite different things. Pick the option that matches what you want to happen.

If the reason is that gambling feels out of control, closure alone is weak, because opening a new account elsewhere takes minutes. The Gambling Commission's self-exclusion guide (opens in a new tab) explains what businesses must do when you self-exclude.

Before you close a casino app account

A few minutes of preparation stops money or information getting stuck.

  1. Withdraw your cash balance. Coral and Ladbrokes say they charge no withdrawal fees; Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals under £10.
  2. Wait for any pending withdrawal to arrive. Under UK rules you can't cancel a withdrawal once it's requested.
  3. Let any open bets or game rounds finish.
  4. Download or screenshot your transaction history if you want a record of what you've spent.
  5. Check the terms for any unused bonus funds or free spins, because they may be forfeited when the account closes.
  6. Turn off marketing in the app's preferences, so you're not relying on the closure to stop messages.

Our guide to withdrawing from a casino app covers the cash-out itself, and how long casino app withdrawals take helps you plan the wait.

How to close your casino app account step by step

Operators don't all handle closure the same way, and we don't name menus that the operators themselves don't publish. This route works almost everywhere.

  1. Sign in to the app or website.
  2. Look in your account settings or safer gambling section for an account closure option.
  3. If there isn't one, open live chat or email the support team.
  4. Say clearly that you want the account closed, and whether it's for gambling-related reasons.
  5. Ask them to confirm by email that the account is closed and that any balance has been paid out.
  6. Uninstall the app once you have the confirmation.

PlayOJO's help page (opens in a new tab) also lists self-exclusion among its account tools, next to deposit, time and loss limits. Our live chat in casino apps guide explains how in-app chat usually works.

Deleting your data, not just the account

Closing an account and erasing your personal data are different requests. Google Play's data safety section for each of our five partner apps says users can request that their data be deleted. You can see this, for example, on the Coral Casino Google Play listing (opens in a new tab).

Gambling operators work under anti-money-laundering and licensing rules, so expect them to keep some records even after a deletion request. Their privacy policy should explain what they keep and for how long. If you're unhappy with how a data request is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (opens in a new tab).

If you want to know what an app collects in the first place, read what a casino app privacy label means and how casino apps use your data.

Closing a Coral or Ladbrokes app account

Coral and Ladbrokes are separate brands run by the same company, LC International Limited, under Gambling Commission account 54743. Each brand has its own account, so closing one doesn't automatically close the other. Ask support directly if you want both shut.

Because they share an operator, one person may not be able to hold new accounts at both. Our question on why you can't open accounts at Coral and Ladbrokes explains more. If you're closing for gambling reasons, self-excluding with each brand, or using GAMSTOP, is the clearer route.

If you're deleting your account because of gambling

Wanting to delete an account is often a sign you've decided gambling isn't working for you, and acting on that is worth doing. Make the decision stick by blocking every route rather than one.

  • Self-exclude with the operator. Under licence condition LCCP 3.5.3 (opens in a new tab), operators must refuse service, close the account and return funds, and remove you from marketing.
  • Register with GAMSTOP (opens in a new tab) to cover every online gambling business licensed in Great Britain for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years.
  • Add a bank gambling block so card payments are refused.
  • Install a blocker such as Gamban on your devices.
  • Call the National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, free and 24/7 on 0808 8020 133.

Our guide to self-excluding from all casino apps walks through each step.

Frequently asked questions

Does deleting a casino app close my account?

No. Uninstalling removes the app from your phone, but the account, any balance and your personal details stay with the operator. You can reinstall the app or open the website and log straight back in. To close it, contact the operator through live chat, email or an account closure option. Our guide on how to close a casino account explains the process.

How do I permanently delete my casino account?

Ask the operator to close the account and, separately, to delete your personal data. Google Play's data safety section for our partner apps says deletion can be requested, though operators may keep some records for legal reasons. If gambling is the reason, self-exclusion makes the closure stick. See how to self-exclude from all casino apps.

What happens to my money when I close a casino account?

You should withdraw it first, and a licensed operator shouldn't keep it. If you self-exclude, licence conditions say the operator must close the account and return your funds. Withdraw before asking for closure to keep things simple. Read what happens to my balance if I delete the app for more on where your money sits.

Can I reopen a closed casino account?

Usually yes after a plain closure, by asking the operator. After a self-exclusion you can't reopen until the period ends, and GAMSTOP exclusions of 6 months, 1 year or 5 years can't be cancelled early. If you're not sure you're ready to stop for good, a time-out or deposit limit may suit you better.

Is closing my account the same as self-exclusion?

No. A plain closure just shuts the account, and you could open a new one later. Self-exclusion tells the operator to refuse you service for a set period, close the account, return funds and stop marketing. GAMSTOP extends that to every online operator licensed in Great Britain. GAMSTOP self-exclusion explains how to register.

Will I still get marketing after deleting the app?

You might, because deleting the app doesn't change your marketing preferences. Since 1 May 2025 operators must let you choose which products and channels you hear about. Turn marketing off in your account settings before closing, or ask support to do it. Our guide to stopping casino marketing texts covers email and SMS too.

Does closing my Coral account close my Ladbrokes account?

Not automatically. Both brands are run by LC International Limited, but each has its own account. Ask each support team if you want both closed, or self-exclude with both. Our page on the difference between the Coral and Ladbrokes apps explains how the two brands relate.

How long does it take to close a casino account?

The operators we cover don't publish a set closure time, and the request is usually handled by support once you ask. The slower part is often waiting for your final withdrawal to arrive. Ask for written confirmation once the account is shut. Our withdrawal pending guide explains what happens while money is on its way.
