This PlayOJO app review covers what the casino-only app from Skill On Net offers UK players: a 25.4 MB iPhone download, an Android version on Google Play, no-wagering spins for new depositors, OJOplus money back and payouts that PlayOJO says are mostly processed within hours. The weak spots get equal space.

PlayOJO app review: the verdict in brief

Rated 4.2/5. The PlayOJO app is one of the lighter real-money casino downloads in the UK, it runs on older iPhones than most rivals, and its headline idea is simple: no wagering on the welcome spins, plus a slice of every stake returned as OJOplus money back. That combination is why it sits just behind Coral and level with Ladbrokes in our casino app reviews.

It loses marks for things that matter when something goes wrong. PlayOJO's help page lists no phone number, live chat only opens once you're logged in, and the operator doesn't publish fees, per-method minimum deposits or maximum deposits. Its licence holder also agreed a regulatory settlement with the Gambling Commission in 2023, covered further down.

The score is an editorial summary built from published facts: the store listings, PlayOJO's help pages, the Gambling Commission's register and the offer terms. It isn't a test result. You can read how the categories are weighted in how we review casino apps.

PlayOJO app download for iPhone and Android

PlayOJO publishes one native app on each of the two big stores, and both list Skill On Net Ltd as the seller or developer. That matters: Apple's rules say gambling apps should come from the legal entity that provides the service, so the publisher name is a quick way to spot a copycat. On the UK App Store the app is called PlayOJO Real Money Casino; on Google Play it appears as PlayOJO: Online Casino Games.

The 25.4 MB figure is small next to the Coral and Ladbrokes casino apps, which the App Store lists at just over 100 MB each and which need iOS 18.0 or later. If your iPhone is stuck on iOS 15, 16 or 17, PlayOJO will still install, whereas those two apps won't. Our casino apps on iPhone page explains how to check your iOS version.

How to install the PlayOJO app

  1. Open the App Store on an iPhone or iPad, or Google Play on an Android phone.
  2. Search for PlayOJO and confirm the seller is Skill On Net Ltd before you tap install.
  3. Download the app over Wi-Fi if your data allowance is tight, then open it.
  4. Log in, or register with your real name, date of birth and UK address so age and identity checks can run.
  5. Set a deposit limit when prompted before your first deposit; UK operators must ask you to set a financial limit at that point.

You can go straight to PlayOJO's App Store listing (opens in a new tab) or its Google Play page (opens in a new tab) rather than searching. Step-by-step help for each platform is in our guides to downloading a casino app on iPhone and installing a casino app on Android, and there are dedicated pages for the PlayOJO iPhone app and the PlayOJO Android app.

Google Play doesn't show a minimum Android version on its web listing any more; your phone tells you whether it's compatible when you open the store page on the device.

PlayOJO app privacy label, data safety and location

Apple's privacy label for the PlayOJO app is short. Under "Used to track you" it lists Identifiers, and under "Data not linked to you" it lists Identifiers (Device ID). By contrast, the Coral and Ladbrokes casino labels name several categories linked to you, such as financial and contact information.

Google Play's data safety section for PlayOJO states that no data is shared and none is collected, that data is encrypted in transit and that you can ask for it to be deleted. Treat both labels as the developer's own declaration; our guide to reading a casino app privacy label explains what each heading means and what it doesn't promise.

The iOS listing also carries this line: the app "may use your location even when it is not open, which can decrease device battery life." Apple requires real-money gaming apps to be geo-restricted to places where they're licensed, which is the usual reason casino apps ask about location. PlayOJO's help pages don't explain its own approach, so check the permission prompt when you first open the app and choose the setting you're comfortable with.

Is the PlayOJO app safe? Licence, owner and record

Yes, the PlayOJO app is licensed for British players. It's run by Skill On Net Limited, which holds Gambling Commission account 39326: a remote casino licence since 1 November 2014 and bingo since February 2020. PlayOJO itself launched in February 2017. The register gives a head office in Limassol, Cyprus, and the company also holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence.

You can confirm this yourself on the Gambling Commission's register entry for Skill On Net (opens in a new tab). The same account covers several other casino domains, which is common for operators that run more than one brand.

The 2023 regulatory settlement

On 23 May 2023 the Commission announced that Skill On Net would pay £305,150 as part of a regulatory settlement, after an investigation found social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures (opens in a new tab). The Commission said the full sum would go to socially responsible causes. Its announcement doesn't name individual brands, so it relates to the licence holder rather than the PlayOJO app specifically.

A past settlement doesn't make an app unsafe today, but it's a fair thing to weigh. The protections that matter to you are the licence itself, the UK rules on age checks and verification, and access to a dispute service. More on that in our PlayOJO app safety page and the wider guide to how casino apps are licensed in the UK.

PlayOJO app games: slots, bingo, tables and live casino

PlayOJO's App Store listing describes slots, jackpot slots, bingo, table games and live casino, and PlayOJO's licence covers casino and bingo products. PlayOJO doesn't publish an official game count, so we don't quote one; open the lobby to see what's on offer today.

The one title we can name with certainty is Big Bass Bonanza, because the welcome spins are played on it. It's a Reel Kingdom fishing slot with a published RTP of 96.71%, high volatility, 10 paylines and a top win of 2,100x the stake. RTP can vary between versions of a game, so check the game's help screen for the figure that applies in the app.

  • Slots and jackpots: the main part of the lobby; see the PlayOJO slots app page for how they're organised.
  • Bingo: listed in the app and covered by a separate bingo licence; our bingo apps guide explains rooms and ticket prices.
  • Table games: named in the App Store description; check the lobby for which blackjack and roulette versions are available.
  • Live casino: streamed dealer tables; see the PlayOJO live casino app page for more.

UK game rules you'll see in the app

Every UK-licensed slot, including those in PlayOJO's lobby, runs under the same Gambling Commission design rules: no autoplay, at least 2.5 seconds per spin, no turbo or slam-stop, and no fanfare for a return that's equal to or lower than your stake. Stakes are capped at £5 a spin if you're 25 or over and £2 if you're 18 to 24. Other casino games must allow at least 5 seconds per round, and you can't play several games at once.

What slot play costs on average at Big Bass Bonanza's 96.71% RTP
Stake per spinSpinsTotal stakedAverage loss (3.29%)
10p100£10£0.33
10p1,440 (one hour at 2.5s a spin)£144£4.74
50p100£50£1.65
£1100£100£3.29

The sums use expected loss = total staked × house edge, where the house edge is 100% minus the RTP. Real sessions swing far above and below these averages, especially on a high-volatility slot, but over time the edge works in the casino's favour. The full game list breakdown is on our PlayOJO app games page.

OJOplus money back, OJO Levels and Kickers

OJOplus is PlayOJO's signature feature: money back on every game you play, win or lose. Apple's store page describes it as money back on every bet. The rate isn't stated in the listing, so look at the OJOplus section in the app for the current figure and any games that pay a different amount. Our explainer what is OJOplus goes into how it's credited.

To keep expectations realistic: money back on stakes reduces the cost of play but doesn't remove it. If a slot returns 96.71% on average and you get a small percentage of each stake back, you still lose on average over time. It's a discount on entertainment, not a way to make money.

OJO Levels, Kickers and OJO Club

PlayOJO's help page sets out three more layers. OJO Levels only ever go up, though not every level comes with a reward. Kickers are daily perks. OJO Club is invitation-only and comes with an assigned account manager. Reward spins land in the Rewards section, which shows the game, the spin value and the deadline; PlayOJO says free spins expire after 24 hours.

PlayOJO app bonus: 80 no-wagering spins in pounds

New UK customers (excluding Northern Ireland) aged 18+ who make a first deposit of at least £10 through the designated offer link get 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each, with no wagering: whatever the spins win is paid as cash. The offer can't be combined with other offers. Terms apply.

So the spins are worth £8 of play and about £7.74 on average, though a high-volatility slot means most results will be well above or below that. Because there's no wagering, there's no playthrough to complete before you can withdraw what they pay. That's a real advantage now that every UK bonus is capped at 10x wagering anyway; zero is still simpler than ten.

How to claim it in the app

  1. Reach PlayOJO through the designated offer link and register, using details that match your ID.
  2. Set your deposit limit when you're prompted before the first deposit.
  3. Deposit £10 or more with a debit card or another eligible method; credit cards can't be used in Great Britain.
  4. Look in the Rewards section, which PlayOJO says shows each reward's game, spin value and deadline.
  5. Play them before the deadline shown; PlayOJO's help page says free spins expire after 24 hours.

The spins are for one slot only. Live casino, blackjack and roulette aren't part of this offer. Our PlayOJO app welcome bonus page covers the terms line by line, and the list of no-wagering casino apps shows how it compares. If you live in Northern Ireland, read can I play casino apps in Northern Ireland first.

PlayOJO app deposits and payment methods

PlayOJO's help page names debit cards, Payz, Apple Pay and Trustly as payment options, and says to check the cashier for the full current list. It also notes that some deposit methods can take up to 3 working days to be credited, and that you can have up to two unverified cards on your account at a time.

On an iPhone, Apple Pay lets you pay without typing card details into the app, while Trustly pays straight from your bank account. Standard debit card deposits remain the default for most players. The UK credit card ban also covers e-wallets topped up with a credit card.

For deposit-by-deposit detail, see the PlayOJO app payment methods page. If your bank has a gambling block switched on, deposits to PlayOJO will be declined, which is the point of the block.

PlayOJO withdrawal times and verification

PlayOJO says it processes the majority of withdrawals within a few hours, and that you can withdraw as little as you want. Money goes back to the method you deposited with wherever possible. Bank processing time is on top of that, and PlayOJO doesn't publish separate timings for each method.

Verification can add time. PlayOJO says documents may be requested after your first withdrawal request, and limits may apply until checks are done. It accepts a passport, driving licence, ID card or utility bill through its upload tool rather than by email, aims to verify within 12 hours, and asks you to contact support if you haven't heard back within 48 hours.

Steps to withdraw from the PlayOJO app

  1. Open the cashier from your account and choose to withdraw.
  2. Enter the amount; PlayOJO doesn't set a minimum.
  3. Confirm the payout method, which will normally be the one you deposited with.
  4. Upload any documents requested using the in-app upload tool, not email.
  5. Allow for bank processing once PlayOJO has approved the payment; contact support if verification passes 48 hours.

PlayOJO customer support: live chat and email

PlayOJO lists two support channels on its help and contact page (opens in a new tab): live chat, which opens once you're logged in, and email at support@playojo.com. PlayOJO says live chat availability depends on your country, and no phone number is given. If you can't log in, email is the fallback.

That's the app's clearest weakness. Some players want to talk to someone when a payment is stuck or an account is restricted, and PlayOJO doesn't offer that by phone. If a complaint isn't resolved, the operator's complaints process and then an independent dispute service are the routes; our PlayOJO customer support page sets out the order to follow.

Safer gambling tools in the PlayOJO app

PlayOJO gives you deposit limits, time limits, loss limits, a feature called OJO Safeguard and self-exclusion. The App Store listing also names Safe Mate and Take A Break. According to the help page, deposit limits sit under My Account, then Settings, then Deposit Limits. A lower limit applies immediately; an increase takes 24 hours.

  1. Open your account in the app and go to Settings.
  2. Choose Deposit Limits and set an amount you can afford to lose.
  3. Add a time or loss limit if you'd like a second check.
  4. Use Take A Break or self-exclusion if you want to stop for a set period.
  5. For a block across every GB-licensed site and app, register with GAMSTOP.

Device and bank tools add a layer outside the app. GAMSTOP (opens in a new tab) blocks you from all GB-licensed gambling for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. Most major banks let you switch off gambling payments, and our guide to setting deposit limits in a casino app covers the basics. The PlayOJO safer gambling tools page explains each feature in turn.

If gambling is causing you problems, call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. It's free, open 24/7 and run by GamCare.

PlayOJO app vs website: which should you use?

The app's advantages are practical: it's a small install, it opens straight from your home screen, and Apple Pay fits naturally on an iPhone. The App Store listing doesn't mention Face ID, Touch ID or push notifications, so don't assume either is available until you see the option in the app.

The website suits anyone who'd rather not install anything or who plays on a laptop. Both are run by the same licence holder under the same rules, so the protections are the same. Our page on the PlayOJO app vs website and the question is PlayOJO's app better than its website go through the trade-offs, and the general casino app vs mobile site comparison applies to every brand.

PlayOJO app pros, cons and who it suits

Advantages

  • Small 25.4 MB iPhone download that runs on iOS 15.0 or later
  • Standalone casino app, with no sportsbook bundled in
  • Welcome spins carry no wagering; winnings are paid in cash
  • OJOplus money back on every game played
  • Most withdrawals processed within a few hours, with no minimum
  • Short privacy label and a no-data-collected declaration on Google Play

Drawbacks

  • No phone support; live chat only after login and depends on country
  • Fees and per-method deposit limits aren't published
  • Welcome offer excludes Northern Ireland and must come through the offer link
  • Reward spins expire after 24 hours
  • Licence holder agreed a £305,150 settlement in 2023

It suits slot players who want simple bonus terms, people on older iPhones or with little free storage, and anyone who prefers a casino app that isn't attached to a betting app. It suits less well those who want phone support or a detailed fee table before they deposit.

PlayOJO app offer and the alternatives

PlayOJO is one of our partners, so its offer appears first below: 18+, new UK customers excluding Northern Ireland, minimum first deposit of £10, 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each, no wagering, winnings paid in cash, not combinable with other offers and only through the designated link. Terms apply.

If you'd prefer a different app, Coral and Ladbrokes both reward a £10 slot stake with spins. Coral: 18+, new players, deposit and bet £10+ on slots between 1 October 2026 and 1 February 2027 to get 100 free spins at 10p on selected games, accepted within 48 hours and valid for 7 days, with no wagering on winnings; some payment methods, including PayPal, Skrill and Neteller, don't qualify. Ladbrokes: 18+, new customers, deposit and spend £10+ on slots for 50 free spins a day for 10 days (maximum 500) at 10p on selected games, claimed by 23:59 each day and valid for 7 days, no wagering; PayPal, prepaid card and some e-wallet deposits don't qualify. Terms apply to all three.

Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited, so you may not be able to open new accounts at both. Whichever you choose, treat the spins as entertainment: the house edge still applies, and you should only deposit what you're prepared to lose.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PlayOJO app legit in the UK?

Yes, the PlayOJO app is run by Skill On Net Limited, which holds Gambling Commission account 39326 with a remote casino licence dating from 1 November 2014. That means UK rules on age checks, verification, safer-gambling tools and complaints apply. The licence holder agreed a £305,150 settlement with the Commission in May 2023 over social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures. See our PlayOJO app safety page and the guide to how casino apps are licensed in the UK.

How big is the PlayOJO app and which iOS does it need?

The PlayOJO app is 25.4 MB on the UK App Store and needs iOS 15.0 or later, or iPadOS 15.0 or later on an iPad. It also runs on Macs with Apple M1 chips or later and on Apple Vision. That's far smaller than many casino apps and supports older iPhones. Google Play doesn't publish a minimum Android version on the web listing, so your phone will tell you. More on the PlayOJO iPhone app page and our smallest casino app downloads list.

How long do PlayOJO withdrawals take?

PlayOJO says it processes most withdrawals within a few hours, and money normally returns to the method you deposited with. Your bank or payment provider's own processing time comes on top, and PlayOJO doesn't publish separate timings for each method. Your first withdrawal can be held while documents are checked; PlayOJO aims to verify within 12 hours. Our PlayOJO app withdrawals page and the general guide to how long casino app withdrawals take explain what affects timing.

What is the minimum withdrawal on the PlayOJO app?

There isn't one, according to PlayOJO's help page, which says you can withdraw as little as you want. That's unusual: Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, state a £5 minimum on some methods. PlayOJO doesn't publish withdrawal fees, so check the cashier for any charge before you confirm. Withdrawals go back to your deposit method where possible. For more on payout routes, see the PlayOJO app payment methods page and our explainer on casino app withdrawal fees.

Does the PlayOJO app have a welcome bonus?

Yes, new UK customers aged 18+ (not in Northern Ireland) who deposit at least £10 for the first time through the designated offer link get 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each. There's no wagering, so winnings are paid as cash, and it can't be combined with other offers. Terms apply. The spins are worth £8 in total. See the PlayOJO app welcome bonus page and our guide to free spins in casino apps.

Does PlayOJO have phone support?

No, PlayOJO's help page doesn't list a phone number. Support is through live chat, which you reach after logging in, and email at support@playojo.com. PlayOJO says chat availability depends on your country, so email is the route if you're locked out. If a complaint isn't resolved, you can take it to an independent dispute service. Our PlayOJO customer support page and the guide on how to complain about a casino app explain the steps.

What is OJOplus on the PlayOJO app?

OJOplus is PlayOJO's money-back feature, paying back part of every stake whether you win or lose. Its App Store description calls it as money back on every bet; the current rate is shown inside the app. It lowers the cost of playing but doesn't cancel the house edge, so you should still expect to lose over time. Our page what is OJOplus explains it in more detail, and the cashback casino apps list compares similar schemes.

Which documents does the PlayOJO app ask for?

PlayOJO accepts a passport, driving licence, ID card or utility bill, uploaded through its own upload tool rather than by email. It says documents may be requested after your first withdrawal request and that limits can apply until verification is complete. It aims to finish checks within 12 hours and asks you to contact support after 48 hours without an answer. See PlayOJO app verification and our guide to what documents casino apps ask for.

Can I set a deposit limit on the PlayOJO app?

Yes, PlayOJO's help page says deposit limits are under My Account, then Settings, then Deposit Limits. Lowering a limit takes effect straight away; raising it takes 24 hours. Time and loss limits, OJO Safeguard and self-exclusion are also available, and the App Store listing names Safe Mate and Take A Break. For a block across all GB-licensed apps, use GAMSTOP. See the PlayOJO safer gambling tools page and self-exclusion from casino apps.
