What BestApps is

BestApps is an independent UK guide to real-money casino apps, written by the BestApps editorial team. We cover the apps themselves: what each one is called in the store, who publishes it, which iOS version it needs, how big it is, how payments and withdrawals work, and which tools help you stay in control. Our goal is simple: help you decide which casino app is worth the space on your phone, then use it well.

We earn commission from five partner casinos (Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet) when readers follow our links and sign up. Commission never changes our facts or verdicts. We also review other UK casino apps with no commercial relationship, and we never link to them. Our advertiser disclosure explains this in full, and about BestApps tells you more about who we are.

The site has five main sections: casino app reviews, best casino apps UK lists, step-by-step guides, mobile casino games, and reference pages on UK rules, safer gambling, common questions and a glossary. Every page carries the date it was last checked, and we correct errors when readers email us.

How we rank and score the best casino apps UK

Our rankings and scores come from published facts, not from testing. We don't claim to have downloaded, played or timed anything. Instead we read the Apple App Store and Google Play listings (checked 20 October 2026 for the partner apps), each operator's terms and help pages, and its entry on the Gambling Commission register. Offers were checked on 5 October 2026.

What goes into a BestApps casino app score
AreaWhat we look at
Licence and ownerThe licence holder and its Gambling Commission account
App detailsStore name, publisher, iOS version, size, standalone or combined app, privacy label
Welcome offerThe headline and its terms, including wagering and exclusions
GamesWhat the operator publishes about its slots, live casino and table games
PaymentsMethods listed, published withdrawal times and fees
Support and safetyContact channels and safer-gambling tools

The result is an editorial summary out of 5: Coral 4.3, Ladbrokes 4.2, PlayOJO 4.2, Casumo 4.2 and 10bet 3.8. We don't use App Store or Google Play star ratings, and every page is dated. Read how we review casino apps for the full method.

Rankings work the same way. Each best-of list picks one need, such as fast withdrawals or an older iPhone, and orders the five partners by the facts that bear on it. Other UK apps appear unranked, with links to their reviews, so you can see the wider field.

What to check before you download any casino app

A few minutes of checking before you install saves trouble later. Work through these in order.

  1. Check the licence. Search the operator on the Gambling Commission's public register (opens in a new tab) and make sure the company matches the one named in the app's terms.
  2. Download only from the App Store or Google Play. Both require real-money gambling apps to be licensed where they're offered. Be wary of APK files sent by message or found on websites.
  3. Read the listing. Check the publisher, the minimum iOS version, the size and the privacy label or data safety section.
  4. Read the offer terms before you deposit. Wagering is capped at 10 times the bonus in Great Britain, but payment exclusions and time limits still apply. All offers are 18+ and terms apply.
  5. Check how you'll get paid. Look up the withdrawal times and fees the operator publishes for your payment method.

Our casino app checklist covers each step in more detail, and how to spot an unlicensed casino app explains the warning signs.

iPhone vs Android casino apps in plain terms

On both platforms you get the same account, balance and games; the differences are in the store and the phone. On iPhone, the App Store listing tells you the minimum iOS version and shows a privacy label. Among our partners, Coral and Ladbrokes need iOS 18.0, 10bet needs iOS 16.0, and PlayOJO and Casumo need iOS 15.0, so an older iPhone may rule some apps out.

On Android, all five partner apps are on Google Play in the UK. The web listing no longer shows a minimum Android version, so the Play Store on your phone tells you whether an app will run. Android listings show a data safety section in place of Apple's privacy label. Both platforms let you limit apps: Screen Time on iPhone and Digital Wellbeing on Android. Our iPhone vs Android casino apps comparison and the casino apps by device hub go further.

Staying in control on your phone

A casino app is always in your pocket, which makes limits more important, not less. Gambling is entertainment that costs money, and the house edge means losses are likely over time. Set a deposit limit when you open an account; UK apps must prompt you to do this before your first deposit. Add reality checks, turn off marketing notifications, and take a time-out if a session stops being fun.

For a firmer barrier, many banks offer a gambling block, and GAMSTOP self-excludes you from every GB-licensed online operator for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. If you're worried about your gambling, call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133, free and open 24 hours a day, run by GamCare (opens in a new tab). Our safer gambling tools in casino apps page explains each option.

18+. Every casino game has a house edge, so expect to lose what you stake over time. Set a budget first: safer gambling tools and support. Free help: National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133.

Casino apps: frequently asked questions

What are the best casino apps in the UK?

On our editorial scores, Coral leads at 4.3 out of 5, with Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and Casumo on 4.2 and 10bet on 3.8. Scores summarise published facts on licence, app details, offers, games, payments, support and safety tools. The best app for you depends on your phone, how you pay and what you play. Browse the best casino apps UK lists by need, or read what is the best casino app UK.

Are real money casino apps legal in the UK?

Yes, in Great Britain, as long as the operator holds a Gambling Commission licence. Apple and Google also require real-money gambling apps to be licensed and restricted to the places where they're legal. You must be 18 or over, and your age and identity are checked before you can deposit or play. Read are casino apps legal in the UK and our real money casino apps list.

Are casino apps safe?

Casino apps from UK-licensed operators, downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, are regulated by the Gambling Commission and must meet its rules on fairness, identity checks and safer gambling. Your own habits matter too: use Face ID or a strong password, avoid APK files from unknown sites and check the privacy label. Read our guide are casino apps safe and are casino apps safe to download.

Which casino app pays out fastest?

It depends on your payment method. Casumo says PayPal, Apple Pay and e-wallet withdrawals arrive instantly after approval, which it says takes a matter of hours. Coral and Ladbrokes say Visa Fast Funds approval typically takes a couple of hours, then up to 4 hours to reach your bank. PlayOJO says it processes most payments within a few hours. See fast withdrawal casino apps and which casino app pays out fastest.

Can you win real money on casino apps?

Yes, winnings on real-money apps are paid in cash and can be withdrawn. But every game has a house edge, so over time players as a whole lose more than they win, and any session can end in a loss. Think of what you deposit as the cost of entertainment. Read can you win real money on casino apps and house edge by game.

Do real money casino apps have welcome bonuses?

Most do. Our five partners offer either spin offers on selected slots or a deposit match with wagering, and since 19 January 2026 wagering in Great Britain can't be more than 10 times the bonus. Offers come with conditions such as a minimum deposit, payment exclusions and time limits. All are 18+ and terms apply. Read do casino apps have welcome bonuses and how wagering works.

Is it better to use a casino app or the website?

Both usually give you the same account, balance and games. An app offers quicker login with Face ID or Touch ID and can send notifications, which you can switch off. The mobile website needs no storage and works on phones that can't run the app. Our casino app vs mobile site comparison and is it better to play on an app or a browser weigh up both.
