How to turn off casino app notifications

How to turn off casino app notifications: on iPhone, go to Settings, then Notifications, pick the app and switch off Allow Notifications; on Android, touch and hold a notification from the app and turn it off, or use Settings. That stops push alerts. Emails, texts and calls are separate, so this guide also covers your marketing preferences and the UK rules behind them.

Key takeaways

  • Push notifications are controlled by your phone's settings, so you can switch them off for any casino app in seconds.
  • Emails, texts and calls are marketing channels you control in your casino account, not on your phone.
  • Since 1 May 2025, UK operators must let you choose marketing by product and by channel, with options off by default.
  • Reality checks and the session time display are part of the game screen, so they keep working with notifications off.
  • If alerts trigger an urge to play, Focus modes, app timers, deleting the app or GAMSTOP go further.

How to turn off casino app notifications: the quick answer

A casino app can only send push notifications if your phone lets it, so the off switch is always in your phone's settings. That works the same for every casino app, whatever the brand, and it takes effect straight away.

Push alerts are only one way operators reach you, though. Marketing by email, text and phone is controlled in your casino account, and UK rules give you a say over each of those channels. Turning off both layers is what makes the messages stop.

This guide is part of our set of casino app guides. For background on why apps send alerts at all, see our explainer on push notifications and gambling marketing.

Turn off casino app notifications on iPhone

On an iPhone or iPad, you can switch off one app's notifications completely, or quieten them from the Lock Screen when one arrives.

From Settings

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Scroll to the casino app and tap it.
  4. Switch off Allow Notifications.

From a notification on the Lock Screen

  1. Swipe left on a notification from the casino app.
  2. Tap Options.
  3. Choose Turn Off to stop all its notifications, or a mute option if you only want a pause.

If you'd rather not change each app, a Focus mode lets you choose which apps can notify you at certain times. Leaving casino apps off the allowed list silences them while that Focus is on.

How to turn off casino app notifications on Android

On Android phones, menu names vary between manufacturers and Android versions, but one of these routes works on most devices.

From a notification

  1. When a notification from the casino app appears, touch and hold it.
  2. Tap Turn off notifications, or the settings icon that appears.
  3. Switch off all notifications for that app.

From Settings

  1. Open Settings and tap Notifications (on some phones, Apps).
  2. Find the casino app in the list of apps.
  3. Switch its notifications off, or open it to turn off individual categories.

Android also has Focus mode in Digital Wellbeing. Google's Digital Wellbeing help page (opens in a new tab) says Focus mode pauses the apps you choose and their notifications, which is useful if you want casino apps quiet during set hours. App timers there close an app and dim its icon once your daily allowance runs out; our guide to blocking casino apps with Digital Wellbeing shows how.

Push, email, SMS and calls: where to switch off each one

Each type of message has its own off switch. The table shows where to find it, so you can stop the ones you don't want and keep any you find useful.

For texts in particular, the Gambling Commission has a page on how to stop gambling marketing texts and emails (opens in a new tab), and our answer on stopping casino marketing texts sums up the steps.

What UK rules say about casino marketing on your phone

Since 1 May 2025, online casino, bingo and betting operators must let you choose which products you hear about (betting, casino or bingo) and through which channels (phone, email or SMS). The options must be off by default when you register. The rule is licence condition 5.1.12 on direct marketing preferences (opens in a new tab), and existing customers were to be asked to confirm their preferences at their first log-in after it started.

Push notifications aren't one of the required channels. When the Commission set the rule, it said in its summary of responses on direct marketing choice (opens in a new tab) that a separate push-notification option was unnecessary. In practice, that makes your phone's settings the dependable control for push alerts.

Other rules also stop marketing. Operators must stop marketing and new bonus offers when they see strong signs that someone is being harmed, and after a self-exclusion they must remove you from marketing within two days. Since 19 January 2026, promotions that mix gambling products, such as a bet on football that earns casino spins, have been banned. Our pages on marketing consent and the mixed-product bonus ban explain both.

Notification settings inside casino apps

Some apps also have their own notification or marketing settings in the account area. None of the App Store or Google Play listings for Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo or 10bet describes notification features, so we can't point to a specific in-app switch for each. Look in your account or profile settings for options named after notifications, communication or marketing preferences.

Turning off push at phone level works whatever the app offers. Our brand pages cover each app's settings in more detail: Coral app settings and notifications, Ladbrokes app settings and notifications and PlayOJO app settings and notifications.

What still works with casino app notifications turned off

Switching off push alerts doesn't remove the safer-gambling features built into the games themselves. These are part of the game screen, not notifications.

  • Reality checks: UK technical standards say you must be able to set how often a reality check appears, and you have to acknowledge it to clear it.
  • Time display: full-screen apps that hide the phone's clock must show the time of day or how long you've been playing.
  • Net spend and time: since 17 January 2025, casino games must show your net spend and time spent in real time.
  • Account messages: anything sent to the app's inbox or by email is still there when you look.

If you rely on alerts for things like withdrawal updates or document requests, check the app's messages area or your email instead. Our guide to reality checks in casino apps explains how to set the interval.

When casino notifications trigger the urge to play

Alerts about offers or new games can pull you back into an app when you hadn't planned to play. If that's happening, switching them off is a good first step, and it's worth thinking about whether you'd like to go further.

Stronger steps include deleting the app, setting app timers or Screen Time limits, adding a bank gambling block, or registering with GAMSTOP to block all UK-licensed gambling sites and apps for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. Our guides to notifications and urges, how to delete a casino app and blocking casino apps with Screen Time set these out.

If gambling is starting to feel hard to control, the National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, is free, confidential and open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133.

Reducing gambling ads in other apps

Casino notifications aren't the only gambling messages on a phone. Ads in videos and other apps come through ad networks, and you control them through your ad settings rather than the casino.

The Gambling Commission's guide on controlling gambling ads on YouTube (opens in a new tab) explains how to choose See Fewer next to Gambling in your Google ad settings. Google doesn't promise that no gambling ads will appear, but it should cut them down. Google Play's policy also says gambling ads in apps must not target users known to be under 18.

Background activity and other permissions to check

While you're in the app's settings, it's worth looking at what else it can do in the background. PlayOJO's App Store listing, for example, says the app may use your location even when it isn't open, which can reduce battery life. You can change location access in your phone's privacy settings without affecting your account.

Our guides to casino app permissions explained and whether casino apps track your location cover what each permission is for and which ones an app genuinely needs. The PlayOJO iPhone app page lists that app's privacy label.

Casino apps and welcome offers, without the alerts

Turning notifications off doesn't stop you claiming or using an offer; you'll just find the details in the app rather than on your Lock Screen. These partner offers are for new customers aged 18+, and terms apply. Bonuses don't change the house edge, so treat any deposit as money spent on entertainment.

Coral (1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027): deposit, excluding certain types, and bet £10 or more on slots to receive 100 free spins on selected games worth 10p each. Accept them within 48 hours and use them within 7 days; winnings have no wagering. Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don't qualify.

Ladbrokes: after depositing and playing £10 or more on slots, you get 50 free spins a day for 10 days, up to 500. Spins are 10p on selected games, must be claimed before 23:59 each day and expire after 7 days, with no wagering. Prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers deposits are excluded, and as Coral shares the same operator you may not be able to hold new accounts at both.

PlayOJO: a first deposit of £10 or more gets 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each, with no wagering and cash winnings. Northern Ireland is excluded, it can't be combined with other offers, and it's only available through the designated link. Frequently asked questions

How do I stop notifications from a casino app on iPhone?

Open Settings, tap Notifications, choose the casino app and switch off Allow Notifications. You can also swipe left on a notification on the Lock Screen, tap Options and choose Turn Off. Either method stops push alerts straight away without affecting your account. Emails and texts are separate and need changing in the app's marketing preferences. Our short answer on how to turn off casino app notifications recaps the steps.

How do I turn off casino notifications on Android?

Touch and hold a notification from the app and tap Turn off notifications, or go to Settings, then Notifications or Apps, find the casino app and switch it off. Menu names vary by manufacturer, but every Android phone has an equivalent. Digital Wellbeing's Focus mode can also pause chosen apps and their notifications during set times. See blocking casino apps with Digital Wellbeing for more.

Why do I still get casino texts after turning off notifications?

Because texts are a marketing channel tied to your casino account, not to the app's notification permission. Since 1 May 2025, UK operators must let you choose marketing by channel, covering phone, email and SMS, so turn off SMS in your account's marketing preferences or ask support to remove you. The Gambling Commission also has guidance on stopping texts. Our answer on stopping casino marketing texts has the steps.

Are casino apps allowed to send me offers?

Yes, but only with your agreement for direct marketing by phone, email or SMS. UK rules require operators to let you opt in by product and by channel, with options off by default at registration. Push notifications depend on the permission you give on your phone. Operators must stop marketing if they see strong signs of harm, or within two days of a self-exclusion. Read more in can casino apps send me offers.

Will turning off notifications stop reality checks?

No, reality checks are part of the game screen, not push notifications, so they keep working. UK technical standards say you must be able to set how often a reality check appears and acknowledge it to clear it. Casino games must also show your net spend and time spent in real time, and full-screen apps must show the time. Our guide to reality checks in casino apps explains how to set them.

Does deleting a casino app stop all its messages?

Deleting the app stops push notifications, because nothing is left on the phone to send them. It doesn't stop marketing emails, texts or calls, which are tied to your account. Change your marketing preferences before deleting, or close the account if you no longer want it. Our guide on how to delete a casino app covers what else stays behind, including your balance.

Can I mute casino notifications only at certain times?

Yes, both iPhone and Android can silence apps on a schedule. On iPhone, set up a Focus mode and leave casino apps off its allowed list. On Android, Digital Wellbeing's Focus mode pauses the apps you choose, along with their notifications, and can run on a schedule. That suits people who want quiet evenings or workdays. For more on how alerts affect habits, see phone habits and gambling.

What is a push notification in a casino app?

A push notification is a message an app sends to your phone's Lock Screen or notification panel, even when the app isn't open. Casino apps may use them for offers, game news or account updates. You give or refuse permission on your phone, and you can withdraw it any time in settings. UK rules don't require a separate push option in marketing preferences. Our glossary entry on push notifications explains the term.
