Unibet app review: our honest summary
Unibet is one of the older names in online gambling. The company was founded in 1997 by Anders Ström, and in Britain it is run by Platinum Gaming Limited, a Kindred Group company with a London head office. The unibet.co.uk domain is listed as active on the Gambling Commission's register.
Two things shape this review. First, the operator's regulatory record is poor for a brand of its size: a £2.9m fine in 2023 and a £10m penalty in 2025. Second, the practical details you would normally weigh up (app store listings, game numbers, cashier methods, payout speeds and support hours) were not confirmed in sources we could verify.
So rather than guess, this page sets out what is certain, explains each penalty in plain terms, and gives you a short checklist to run in the app before you deposit. It also compares Unibet with three partner apps whose details are published.

Is Unibet licensed in the UK? Operator and owner
Yes. The register entry for Platinum Gaming Limited (opens in a new tab) shows account 45322, covering remote casino, bingo and betting licences, with unibet.co.uk listed as an active domain. Holding all three means one company can offer sports betting, casino and bingo under the same brand.
Platinum Gaming sits within Kindred Group, which also owned 32Red in Britain at the time of the 2023 fine. Company histories name Kindred as Unibet's parent; whether Kindred's own ownership has changed recently couldn't be confirmed for this review, so the register is the best place to see the current licence holder.
- Search the Gambling Commission's public register for account 45322.
- Check the licence status shows as active.
- Open the domain names list and confirm unibet.co.uk appears.
- Compare that domain with the address the app or website sends you to.
Our explainer on remote gambling licences covers what each licence type allows, and the licence glossary entry defines the terms used on the register.
Unibet fines: the 2023 and 2025 penalties explained
In March 2023 the Gambling Commission fined Kindred's British businesses £7.1m in total. Platinum Gaming Limited, which runs Unibet, paid £2.9m and received an official warning; 32Red Limited paid £4.2m separately.
The Commission found that weak multiple-account controls let customers who had self-excluded or been blocked at 32Red go on gambling. It also found failures to identify and interact with customers showing signs of problem gambling, and anti-money-laundering policies that weren't good enough.
Then, on 22 October 2025, the Commission announced a £10m penalty for Platinum Gaming Limited (opens in a new tab) over further social responsibility and anti-money-laundering failures. Two major actions within three years is a pattern worth knowing about before you open an account.
| Date | Company | Action | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| 23 March 2023 | Platinum Gaming Limited | £2.9m fine plus official warning | Multiple-account controls, customer interaction and anti-money-laundering failures |
| 23 March 2023 | 32Red Limited (same group) | £4.2m fine | Part of the same £7.1m Kindred action |
| 22 October 2025 | Platinum Gaming Limited | £10m penalty | Social responsibility and anti-money-laundering failures |
Fines don't mean an operator is unsafe today, and the licence remains in place. They do show where it has fallen short, and the areas involved, protecting vulnerable customers, are the ones that matter most. The customer interaction rules explain what operators must now do when they spot signs of harm.
Unibet app download on iPhone: how to find the real one
We couldn't confirm the Unibet App Store listing for this review, so there is no app name, iOS version or download size to report. Because Platinum Gaming holds a betting licence as well as a casino licence, the listing you find may be a sports betting app with a casino section rather than a casino-only app.
Before you tap Get, run through these checks. They take a minute and protect you from look-alike apps.
- Open the App Store and search for Unibet.
- Read the seller name under the app title; it should tie back to the Unibet or Kindred business.
- Scroll to Information and note the size, the iOS version it needs and the age rating, which should be 18+.
- Read the App Privacy section to see which data is linked to you or used for tracking.
- Check the description to see whether it is a casino app or a sportsbook with casino games.
- Install only if all of this matches, then register and complete identity checks.
Our guide to reading a casino app privacy label explains each data category. The Unibet iPhone app page will carry listing details once they are confirmed, and which iOS version casino apps need helps if your phone is older.
Unibet Android app: Google Play checks
No Unibet Google Play listing was confirmed for this review either. Google's real-money gambling app policy (opens in a new tab) says developers must complete an application process, hold a valid licence for each country, block under-18s, restrict access to licensed areas and keep the app free to download. A genuine Unibet app on Google Play should therefore meet all of those conditions.
Be wary of any page offering a Unibet APK outside the Play Store. Sideloaded files skip Google's checks, and fake gambling apps are a known way to steal logins and card details. Fake casino apps and scams shows the warning signs, and our Unibet Android app page will track the listing.
Unibet casino games on mobile and what they cost
Unibet doesn't publish a game count or studio list in any source we could verify, so check the lobby once you have registered. Whatever it carries, the cost of each game is set by its house edge, and the game's help or rules screen is where to find its return.
The table below uses figures from Wizard of Odds' house edge analysis (opens in a new tab) and standard roulette maths to show the average cost of £500 in total stakes. That might be 50 hands of £10 blackjack, or 250 spins at £2 on roulette.
| Game and rules | House edge | Average cost |
|---|---|---|
| Blackjack, liberal Vegas rules, basic strategy | 0.28% | £1.40 |
| Blackjack, Atlantic City rules, basic strategy | 0.43% | £2.15 |
| European roulette | 2.70% | £13.50 |
| American roulette | 5.26% | £26.30 |
Basic strategy only reduces the blackjack edge; it never removes it, and a table with worse rules, such as a 6:5 payout on blackjack, costs more. Our house edge by game table covers more games, and how to find a game's RTP in an app shows where to look.
Unibet deposits and withdrawals: rules that apply
Unibet's payment methods, minimum deposit and withdrawal times weren't published in sources we could verify. Look in the cashier before depositing. Several UK rules apply whatever the cashier shows, and they are worth knowing before you add money.
| Rule | Since | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Age and identity checks before gambling | 7 May 2019 | You must be verified before you can deposit or play |
| Credit card ban | 14 April 2020 | No credit cards, including e-wallets funded by one |
| Financial vulnerability checks | 28 February 2025 | Light-touch checks once net deposits pass £150 in 30 days |
| Limit prompt before first deposit | 31 October 2025 | You'll be asked to set a financial limit |
For your first payout, verify your identity early, withdraw to the method you deposited with, and keep a note of the request date. If it stalls, our guide to a withdrawal that is pending explains the usual causes. The Unibet withdrawals page collects anything Unibet publishes, and financial risk checks explains the £150 rule.
Unibet welcome bonus: what we found
No Unibet welcome offer was found at the time of checking (25 October 2026). If you see one quoted elsewhere, check its date: since 19 January 2026, wagering can't be more than 10 times the bonus, and offers that mix sports bets with casino play are banned. A quoted offer that breaks either rule is out of date.
That second rule matters for brands like Unibet that run sport and casino side by side. A promotion that asks you to place a sports bet to get casino spins, or the other way round, can no longer be offered in Great Britain. The mixed product bonus ban explains the detail.
Safer gambling and self-exclusion at Unibet
Unibet's own list of safer-gambling tools wasn't confirmed, but every UK operator must offer deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion. Look for them in the account or settings area of the app.
Given that the 2023 fine involved self-excluded customers still being able to gamble across group brands, a national block gives extra peace of mind. GAMSTOP explains how its scheme works (opens in a new tab): it covers every online operator licensed in Great Britain for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years, and can't be cancelled early.
- Set a deposit limit before you play, using our deposit limit guide.
- Add a bank gambling block if your bank offers one.
- Use Screen Time on iPhone or Digital Wellbeing on Android to limit or block gambling apps.
- Call the National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, on 0808 8020 133 (free, 24/7) if gambling is causing harm.
Our help and support page lists every free UK service.
How to complain about Unibet
Start with Unibet's own complaints process and keep copies of every message. The operator has eight weeks to resolve it. If it doesn't, you can take the complaint to a free alternative dispute resolution provider (opens in a new tab) approved by the Gambling Commission.
Our guide on what ADR means for casino app players covers which complaints qualify and what an ADR body can and can't decide.

Frequently asked questions
Is Unibet safe and licensed in the UK?
Unibet is licensed in Great Britain through Platinum Gaming Limited, Gambling Commission account 45322, and unibet.co.uk is listed as an active domain. That means UK protections such as identity checks, deposit limits and access to free dispute resolution apply. The operator has, however, been fined £2.9m in 2023 and given a £10m penalty in 2025. Read are casino apps safe for what a licence does and doesn't promise.
Who owns Unibet?
Unibet belongs to Kindred Group, and its British business is run by Platinum Gaming Limited. The brand was founded in 1997 by Anders Ström. Whether Kindred's own ownership has changed recently couldn't be confirmed for this review, so check the Gambling Commission register for the current licence holder. Our guide to how casino apps are licensed in the UK shows how to read a register entry.
Why was Unibet fined £10m?
On 22 October 2025 the Gambling Commission announced a £10m penalty for Platinum Gaming Limited, the company that runs Unibet in Britain, over social responsibility and anti-money-laundering failures. It followed a £2.9m fine and official warning in March 2023 for weak multiple-account controls, poor customer interaction and inadequate anti-money-laundering policies. Our page on customer interaction rules explains what operators must do to protect players.
Is there a Unibet app for iPhone?
A Unibet App Store listing couldn't be confirmed for this review, so we can't give its size or iOS requirement. Search the App Store, check that the seller ties back to the Unibet business, and read the size, iOS version and privacy details under Information before installing. Because Unibet also offers sports betting, the app may combine sport and casino. Our Unibet iPhone app page will add details once confirmed.
How do I download the Unibet app on Android?
Search Google Play for Unibet and check the developer name before installing. A Play Store listing wasn't confirmed for this review, so we can't give its size or Android version. Google only allows licensed real-money gambling apps that block under-18s and restrict access to licensed countries. Avoid APK files from other websites, which skip Google's checks. Our guide to casino APK files explains the risks.
How long do Unibet withdrawals take?
Unibet's withdrawal times aren't published in sources we could verify, so check the cashier and help pages in the app. In general, UK casino withdrawals pass an internal review first and then take from minutes to several working days depending on the method. Completing identity checks early helps avoid delays. Our Unibet withdrawals page and how long casino app withdrawals take cover the detail.
Does Unibet have a welcome bonus?
No Unibet welcome offer was found at the time of checking on 25 October 2026. If you see one quoted, make sure it fits current UK rules: wagering can't be more than 10 times the bonus, and offers that mix sports betting with casino play have been banned since 19 January 2026. An offer that breaks either is out of date. Our 10x wagering cap explainer has the full rule.
Can I self-exclude from Unibet?
Yes. Every UK-licensed operator, Unibet included, must offer self-exclusion, and you can also use GAMSTOP to block all GB-licensed online operators at once for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. A bank gambling block and your phone's app controls add further barriers. Our GAMSTOP guide explains how to register and what happens next.
