Do casino apps have welcome bonuses?

Do casino apps have welcome bonuses? Yes: most UK-licensed casino apps offer new customers a welcome bonus, usually spins for a qualifying deposit or stake, or a percentage match on the first deposit. The offer normally belongs to your account rather than the app, and since 19 January 2026 any wagering on it is capped at 10 times the bonus.

Key takeaways

  • Most UK casino apps offer a welcome bonus to new customers aged 18+, with terms attached.
  • The common types are spins for a qualifying stake, spins for a first deposit, and a deposit match.
  • Wagering on any bonus is capped at 10x since 19 January 2026, and some offers have none at all.
  • A bonus can’t be bought through Apple or Google billing; it comes from the operator’s own cashier.
  • Work out the face value in pounds and read the payment exclusions before you deposit.

Yes, most casino apps have welcome bonuses

Almost every UK-licensed real-money casino app advertises a welcome offer for new customers. You’ll usually see it on the app’s registration screen or promotions tab, and the same offer generally appears on the operator’s website, because the bonus is attached to your account rather than to the app download.

That last point matters. Downloading the app doesn’t trigger anything on its own; opening an account, passing age and identity checks, and meeting the qualifying condition does. Our welcome bonus glossary entry defines the term, and the casino app questions hub collects related answers.

Types of casino app welcome bonus

Welcome offers in UK apps fall into a few patterns. Each has different maths, so it helps to recognise which one you’re looking at.

Common welcome bonus types in UK casino apps
TypeHow it worksPartner example
Spins for a qualifying stakeDeposit, then stake a set amount on slots to receive spinsCoral, Ladbrokes
Spins for a first depositSpins arrive when your first deposit clearsPlayOJO
Deposit matchA percentage of your first deposit is added as bonus funds, with wageringCasumo, 10bet
No-wagering spinsWinnings from the spins are paid as cashCoral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO
No-deposit bonusA small reward for signing up, with no depositNone of our partners

Spin offers are slot offers. Blackjack, roulette and live casino games are often excluded from bonuses or count for less towards wagering, so check the terms before assuming a bonus works at a table. Our guide to free spins in casino apps covers spin offers in depth, and deposit match explains the other main type.

Welcome bonuses on our five partner casino apps

Here’s how the welcome offers on the five apps we work with compare, as last checked on 5 October 2026. All are for new customers aged 18+, and terms apply to each.

None of these needs a promo code, and none is a no-deposit offer. Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited, part of Entain, so one person may not be able to open new accounts at both. Our Casumo welcome bonus and 10bet welcome bonus pages cover the two deposit-match offers in full.

What a casino app welcome bonus is worth in pounds

Headline numbers can mislead, so convert each offer into pounds. For spins, multiply the number of spins by the spin value. For a deposit match, work out how much you must deposit and how much you must stake before winnings can be withdrawn.

  • Coral: 100 spins × 10p = £10 of spins, after a £10 slot stake of your own.
  • Ladbrokes: up to 500 spins × 10p = £50 of spins, but only if you claim a batch on each of the 10 days.
  • PlayOJO: 80 spins × 10p = £8 of spins. Big Bass Bonanza is listed at 96.71% RTP, so the average expected return is about £7.74 (£8 × 0.9671), though any single session can land well above or below that.
  • Casumo: a £200 deposit gets the full £100 bonus, which then needs £1,000 of bets (10 × £100) within 7 days at no more than £5 a bet.
  • 10bet: a £25 deposit gets a £25 bonus, which needs £250 of slot bets (10 × £25) within 3 days.

Wagering costs money on average. At a slot paying 96.71%, the house edge is 3.29%, so wagering £1,000 has an expected cost of about £32.90 and wagering £250 about £8.23. That doesn’t make a deposit match bad, but it shows why a £100 bonus isn’t £100 of value. See how wagering works in casino apps for more worked examples.

UK rules that shape casino app bonuses

Several Gambling Commission rules apply to every welcome bonus in a UK app, whatever the brand. The biggest change came on 19 January 2026, when the Commission’s rules on safer and simpler promotions (opens in a new tab) took effect.

  • Wagering can’t be more than 10 times the bonus. Our page on the UK wagering cap explains the detail.
  • One offer can’t mix gambling products, so a combined sportsbook and casino app can’t require a sports bet to release casino spins, or the reverse.
  • Your age and identity must be verified before you can deposit or gamble, including with a bonus.
  • Significant terms, such as deposit, wagering, time limits and payment exclusions, must be shown clearly with the offer, not buried in the full terms.
  • You must be able to withdraw your own deposit balance at any time, even while a bonus is active.

The Commission’s consumer page on free offers and bonuses (opens in a new tab) says operators should make clear whether you’re playing with your own money or bonus funds and should be clear about restrictions such as bet size limits.

Why you never pay for a casino bonus through the App Store

Apple’s App Review Guidelines (opens in a new tab) say real-money gaming apps can’t use in-app purchase for credit or currency, and must be free on the App Store. Google Play’s policy likewise bars its billing system for gambling apps and requires them to be free to install.

So a real-money welcome bonus always comes through the operator’s own cashier, triggered by a deposit with a method such as a debit card or Apple Pay. If an app offers “bonus coins” for sale through your Apple ID, you’re in a social casino, not a real-money one. Credit cards are banned for gambling, so they can’t fund a qualifying deposit either.

How to claim a welcome bonus in a casino app

  1. Install the official app from the App Store or Google Play, checking the publisher name matches the operator.
  2. Open the offer terms before registering and note the qualifying deposit, stake, spin value, expiry and excluded payment methods.
  3. Register with your real details so the age and identity checks pass.
  4. Set a deposit limit when the app prompts you before your first deposit.
  5. Opt in or select the welcome offer if the terms require it; 10bet asks you to choose its casino bonus at sign-up.
  6. Deposit with an eligible method, then complete any qualifying slot stake.
  7. Accept or open the spins or bonus within the stated window and track the expiry.

Our step-by-step guide to claiming a bonus in a casino app adds more detail on each stage, and reading casino app bonus terms shows what to look for in the small print.

When a casino app welcome bonus isn’t worth taking

A welcome bonus suits someone who was going to play slots at that stake anyway. It doesn’t suit everyone, and turning one down is perfectly sensible.

  • If you mainly play blackjack, roulette or live tables, spin offers won’t help and deposit matches may weight those games at only a fraction.
  • If you’d have to deposit more than you planned to reach the full match, the bonus is nudging you to spend.
  • If you prefer a particular e-wallet, check it isn’t excluded; Coral and Ladbrokes leave out PayPal, Skrill and Neteller.
  • If the time limit is short, such as 3 days, think about whether you’ll realistically play within it.

Bonuses don’t change the house edge. Treat any welcome offer as a little extra entertainment, not a way to make money.

Frequently asked questions

Do all casino apps have a welcome bonus?

Most UK-licensed casino apps do, but not all, and the size and type vary a lot. Some give spins for a qualifying stake, some match your first deposit, and some offer nothing beyond loyalty rewards. Whatever the app, the offer is usually tied to your new account rather than the download. Compare current options on our best casino apps lists, and always read the terms before depositing.

Is the app welcome bonus the same as on the website?

Usually, yes. A welcome offer is normally attached to your account, so the operator’s app and website show the same offer for new customers. Occasionally an operator runs a promotion only in its app, which is legal if it follows UK rules. If the two differ, read the terms for the version you’re claiming. Our page asking are app-only bonuses real looks at this in more detail.

Do casino apps have no-deposit bonuses?

None of our five partners offers one. Where any operator does, a no-deposit bonus still needs age and identity verification before you can use it, and it carries terms such as game restrictions and expiry. All five of our partner offers need a deposit, and none requires a promo code. Our low deposit casino apps list is a sensible alternative if you want to start small.

Can I use a casino app welcome bonus on blackjack or roulette?

Usually not in full. Spin offers are slot offers, so they only work on the selected slots. Deposit-match bonuses often exclude table and live games or count them at a lower rate towards wagering; 10bet, for example, asks you to wager its bonus on slots. Always check the game rules in the terms. Our page on using a bonus on live casino explains the usual restrictions.

How much wagering can a UK casino app bonus have?

No more than 10 times the bonus amount, since 19 January 2026. Before then, much higher multiples were common. The cap applies to every licensed operator in Great Britain, on apps and websites alike. Some offers, like the Coral, Ladbrokes and PlayOJO spins, have no wagering at all. The wagering cap rule page gives the full timeline and the Commission’s reasoning.

Can I get welcome bonuses on several casino apps?

Usually one per operator: welcome offers are typically limited to one per customer, as Coral’s terms state. You can join different operators, but brands under the same company may share account rules: Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited, so you may not be able to open new accounts at both. Our page on having more than one casino app explains the limits.

Do I need a promo code for a casino app bonus?

Not for any of our five partner offers. You claim them by registering, opting in or selecting the offer where required, and meeting the qualifying deposit or stake. PlayOJO’s offer is available only through the designated offer link. If another site promises a secret code for a bigger bonus, treat it with caution and check the operator’s own terms. Our bonus terms guide shows what to check.

Are welcome bonuses worth it?

They can add a little value if you were going to play slots anyway, but they never change the house edge. Convert the offer into pounds: 80 spins at 10p is £8 of spins, while a £100 match with 10x wagering needs £1,000 of bets. If an offer would push you to deposit more than planned, skip it. Our budgeting for casino apps page helps set a sensible spend.
