Best blackjack apps UK

The best blackjack apps UK players can use for real money are Casumo, 10bet and Coral. But at blackjack the table rules matter more than the app: a 6:5 payout on blackjack can cost you more than everything else combined. This page ranks the apps, then shows how to spot a good table, what each version costs in pounds and which side bets to skip.

Key takeaways

  • Casumo, 10bet and Coral are our picks, ranked on app features, payouts and support; check each lobby for the variants you want.
  • A blackjack that pays 6:5 instead of 3:2 adds 1.39% to the house edge, so read the table rules first.
  • With basic strategy, common live versions cost roughly £4.50 to £6.20 per 100 hands at £10 a hand.
  • Side bets and insurance carry far higher edges than the main game.
  • Card counting does not work on RNG blackjack, which reshuffles every hand.

How we chose the best blackjack apps

Blackjack is the same card game on every licensed app, but the rules at each table, and the app around it, are not. We ranked apps on what you can check before you play: the app's own features, how quickly and cheaply it pays out, how you reach support, and whether its bonus terms are honest about table games.

What we could not do is rank by blackjack range. None of these operators publishes a full list of its tables, so we never claim an app carries a particular variant. Treat the ranking as a guide to the app and its money side, then use the checks later on this page to pick a good table inside it. The full set of lists is on our best casino apps hub.

Best blackjack apps UK, ranked

1. Casumo: best app for live blackjack on a phone

Casumo's iPhone app runs on iOS 15.0 or later at 52.5 MB, and its listing includes Face ID and Touch ID login, Quick Deposit with Apple Pay and a haptic feedback toggle, small touches that help when you are making quick hit or stand decisions. On Android the app is titled "Casumo - Live Casino & Slots". The listing does not name blackjack specifically, so check the Casumo games lobby for live and RNG tables.

Casumo says PayPal, Apple Pay and e-wallet withdrawals arrive instantly after approval. Its bonus is the most blackjack-relevant detail: game restrictions apply, and a £5 maximum bet runs while the bonus is active, so most players will want to play blackjack with cash, not bonus funds. Support runs 7:00 to 23:00.

2. 10bet: best for phone support at the table

10bet's app combines its sportsbook with a casino that its listing says includes live casino tables. It needs iOS 16.0 or later and takes 112.3 MB. The standout is a published UK phone line, 0808 175 0550, open 08:00 to 23:00, which is handy if a hand is settled in a way you want explained. See the 10bet games page for what the lobby holds.

Card and e-wallet withdrawals take up to 2 business days. Its welcome bonus is wagered on slots, so it adds little for a blackjack player.

3. Coral Casino: the only listing that names blackjack

Coral's App Store listing is the only one of the three to name blackjack directly, alongside roulette and live casino. It is a standalone casino app (101.6 MB, iOS 18.0 or later), and Coral says it charges no withdrawal fees, with Visa Fast Funds payouts usually approved within a couple of hours and then landing in up to 4 hours. Browse the Coral games guide for more.

It ranks third because the iOS 18 requirement rules out many older iPhones and no phone support is published. Its welcome spins are for slots only.

Blackjack rules that change the house edge

Every blackjack table publishes its rules in the game's help screen, and small rule changes add up. These figures come from Wizard of Odds' rule variations table (opens in a new tab), measured against an eight-deck game where the dealer stands on soft 17.

How common rules shift the house edge
RuleEffect on the playerWhat to look for in the help screen
Blackjack pays 6:5 instead of 3:2Costs 1.39%"Blackjack pays 3 to 2"
Blackjack pays even moneyCosts 2.27%Avoid unless other rules compensate
Dealer hits soft 17Costs 0.22%"Dealer stands on all 17s"
No doubling after a splitCosts 0.14%"Double after split allowed"
Double on 10 and 11 onlyCosts 0.18%"Double on any two cards"
European no-hole-card ruleCosts 0.11%Whether the dealer takes a second card at the start
Six decks instead of eightWorth +0.02%Number of decks

The payout rule matters most. At 3:2 a £10 blackjack wins £15; at 6:5 it wins £12. That £3 gap, repeated every time you are dealt a natural, is why the 6:5 rule costs more than the dealer hitting soft 17 and no doubling after splits put together. Our blackjack app guide covers the full rules.

What blackjack costs per 100 hands

With the edge known, the cost is simple: stake × hands × house edge. These examples assume you play basic strategy; mistakes push the cost up.

Expected cost of 100 hands at £10 a hand
Version and rulesHouse edgeExpected cost
Evolution Infinite Blackjack (8 decks, six-card Charlie)0.45%£4.50
European rules (6 decks, no peek, double 9 to 11)0.62%£6.20
Blackjack Switch (6 decks, dealer hits soft 17)0.58%£5.80
Free Bet Blackjack (standard rules)1.04%£10.40
Single deck paying 6:51.44%£14.40

Despite its name, Free Bet Blackjack does not hand out money: its no-cost doubles and splits are paid for by a rule that a dealer 22 pushes, which is why its edge is more than double Infinite Blackjack's. Read about Infinite Blackjack and the rest of our house edge by game figures.

These are long-run averages. Over a single session of 100 hands your result will usually differ from the expected cost by far more than the cost itself, in either direction.

Live blackjack vs RNG blackjack on a phone

Blackjack apps offer two kinds of table. RNG blackjack is software: a tested random number generator deals each hand, and most online games shuffle after every hand. Live blackjack is dealt by a real dealer on camera from a shoe of physical cards.

  • Pace. UK rules require at least 5 seconds per game cycle for casino games other than slots, so even RNG tables cannot be rapid-fire. Live tables run at the dealer's pace.
  • Seats. Classic live tables have seven seats; Bet Behind lets you back a seated player's hand instead. Evolution's Infinite tables have unlimited seats, with everyone sharing the same first two cards.
  • Screen. RNG games scale cleanly to a small screen. Live games need a steady connection and are easier to follow on a larger phone or in landscape.
  • Data. Live streams use much more data than RNG tables, so Wi-Fi is the safer option.

Our guide to live blackjack on mobile goes further, and Evolution's live blackjack page (opens in a new tab) lists the studio's main variants. Remember that each app chooses which tables to carry.

Basic strategy on a blackjack app

Basic strategy is the mathematically best decision for each hand against each dealer card. It reduces the house edge to the figures above; it never removes it. For four to eight decks with the dealer standing on soft 17, Wizard of Odds' basic strategy chart (opens in a new tab) includes these principles:

  1. Always split aces and 8s.
  2. Never split 5s or 10s.
  3. Always stand on hard 17 or more.
  4. Stand on hard 13 to 16 only when the dealer shows 2 to 6.
  5. Double hard 11 unless the dealer shows an ace.
  6. Never take insurance or even money.

Strategy changes with the rules: no-hole-card European games and dealer-hits-soft-17 tables use slightly different charts. See blackjack strategy on mobile for more.

Blackjack side bets: what they really cost

Side bets are where blackjack apps make the game expensive. Each one is a separate wager with its own, much higher, house edge. Figures below are from Wizard of Odds' published analysis for the paytables named.

Side bet house edges
Side betPaytable or settingHouse edgeCost per £100 bet
Insurance8 decks, ace showingAbout 7.47%About £7.47
Perfect Pairs25/12/6, 8 decks4.10%£4.10

Push 22 (Free Bet)6 decks, dealer hits soft 1711.76%£11.76

Compare those with 0.45% to 0.62% on the main game. A £1 side bet on every £10 hand can easily double what an hour of blackjack costs you. Read more about side bets.

Does card counting work on blackjack apps?

No. Card counting is a historical idea: the mathematician Edward O. Thorp popularised it in a 1962 book, and it relies on tracking cards through a shoe that is not reshuffled. RNG blackjack shuffles after every hand, so there is nothing to track. Live tables generally use shuffling methods, such as continuous shufflers or reshuffling well before the shoe runs out, that defeat it too.

Apple's App Store Review Guidelines (opens in a new tab) also ban illegal gambling aids, including card counters, from the store. Be wary of any app or video that promises a way past the house edge; no system changes it.

Welcome bonuses and blackjack apps

Most welcome offers are designed for slots. Blackjack, roulette and live tables are often excluded or count for less towards wagering,. That applies to all three apps here: Casumo says game restrictions apply, 10bet's bonus is wagered on slots, and Coral's offer is spins on selected slots.

The honest advice is to choose a blackjack app for its tables and payouts, not its bonus, and to read the terms before you take bonus money near a card table. Our guide to reading casino app bonus terms shows where the game rules sit.

Other UK blackjack apps worth knowing

These licensed brands are relevant to blackjack players but are not ranked, because we only rank our partners against full published facts.

  • Sky Casino: its iOS app is listed as "Sky Casino Blackjack, Roulette" (155.9 MB, iOS 15.0 or later), covering blackjack, roulette, baccarat, slots and live casino.
  • Betfair Casino: the "Betfair Live Casino" iOS app lists live blackjack, roulette and baccarat, though its iOS 9.0 requirement suggests an older listing.
  • Virgin Games: Gamesys's site lists table games including blackjack, roulette, baccarat and craps.
  • 888casino: third-party reviews mention exclusive 888-branded live blackjack tables; its UK app listing could not be confirmed.

How to check a blackjack table in any app

  1. Open the blackjack game but do not place a bet.
  2. Tap the information or help icon inside the game.
  3. Find the blackjack payout: you want 3 to 2.
  4. Check whether the dealer stands or hits on soft 17, and whether you can double after splitting.
  5. Look for the RTP figure, which UK games must make available, and compare tables.
  6. Note the table's minimum and maximum bets, and set a deposit limit that fits your budget.

Blackjack is a game of small edges, but an edge all the same. Set a budget, treat it as the cost of the evening, and use the Casumo safer gambling tools or your chosen app's equivalents.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best blackjack app in the UK?

Casumo is our top blackjack app for its phone features, low iOS requirement and quick e-wallet payouts, followed by 10bet and Coral. Coral is the only one of the three whose listing names blackjack directly, so check each lobby for the tables you want. The table rules, especially a 3:2 blackjack payout, matter more than the app. See which casino app has the best blackjack or the Casumo app review.

Can you win real money on blackjack apps?

Yes, on a licensed UK app blackjack winnings are real money you can withdraw. Blackjack also has one of the lowest house edges in the casino, around 0.45% to 0.62% with basic strategy on common versions. Low is not zero, though: over many hands you should expect to lose a little of what you stake. Our answer to can you win real money on casino apps explains why.

Is online blackjack rigged on apps?

No, not on UK-licensed apps. RNG blackjack must use a random number generator tested to Gambling Commission standards, and simulated cards must follow the same probabilities as a real deck. Live blackjack is dealt from physical cards on camera. The house edge comes from the game's published rules and payouts, not from rigging. Read do casino apps rig games for how testing works.

What is the house edge on blackjack apps?

It depends on the rules. Wizard of Odds puts Evolution's Infinite Blackjack at 0.45% and a six-deck European no-peek game at 0.62%, both with basic strategy. A table paying 6:5 on blackjack adds 1.39%, and Free Bet Blackjack runs at 1.04%. Side bets are much higher. Check the game's help screen for its rules and RTP. See our house edge glossary entry for the basics.

Should I take insurance in blackjack?

No. Basic strategy says never take insurance or even money. Insurance is a side bet that pays 2 to 1 if the dealer has blackjack, and with eight decks its house edge is about 7.47%, many times higher than the main game. It feels like protection, but over time it simply adds to your losses. Our guide to blackjack strategy on mobile covers the other key decisions.

Can I use a bonus on blackjack?

Usually not in a useful way. Welcome offers at Casumo, 10bet and Coral are built for slots, and blackjack is often excluded or counts for less towards wagering. Casumo also caps bets at £5 while its bonus is active. Playing restricted games with bonus money can void winnings, so read the terms first. Our explainer on how wagering works in casino apps shows how contribution rules work.

Does the £5 stake limit apply to blackjack?

No. The £5 per spin limit for players aged 25 and over, and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds, applies only to online slots. Blackjack tables set their own minimum and maximum bets. What does apply is a 5-second minimum per game cycle, the autoplay ban and a ban on playing several games at once, all since 17 January 2025. Read about game speed rules for the detail.

Is live blackjack better than RNG blackjack on a phone?

Neither is better in principle; it depends on what you want. RNG blackjack works well on small screens and needs little data. Live blackjack gives you a real dealer and shoe, and versions such as Infinite Blackjack never run out of seats, but it needs a steady connection. Both carry a house edge set by the rules. Our live blackjack on mobile guide compares them in more depth.
