What is OJOplus?

What is OJOplus? It's PlayOJO's money-back feature: PlayOJO says it gives you money back on every real-money game you play, and it describes this as its signature feature. It isn't a welcome bonus, and PlayOJO presents it as money back rather than a bonus you have to play through. Here's how it works, what it can realistically be worth in pounds and what to check in the app.

Key takeaways

  • OJOplus is PlayOJO's money back on every bet, built into normal real-money play.
  • It reduces the cost of play a little but doesn't remove the house edge.
  • The rate for each game and how the money is paid are set out by PlayOJO, so check its help pages and your account.
  • PlayOJO is run by Skill On Net Limited, licensed by the Gambling Commission under account 39326.

OJOplus explained: PlayOJO's money back on every bet

Most casino rewards ask you to do something extra: opt in, hit a target, or play through a bonus. OJOplus works differently. PlayOJO describes it as money back on every game played, so it runs in the background whenever you stake real money in the PlayOJO app.

In simple terms, the money back you build up is linked to how much you stake. The more you bet, the more comes back, but always less than the bet itself. That's the key point to hold on to: OJOplus softens the cost of play, it doesn't make play profitable.

PlayOJO's company records list three products, slots, live casino and bingo, and name OJOplus as the brand's signature feature. For more everyday app questions, browse our casino app questions hub.

How OJOplus works in the PlayOJO app

The general formula is simple: money back = the amount you stake × the OJOplus rate that applies to that game. PlayOJO doesn't publish a single flat rate in the sources we rely on, so the rate for any game, when the money is added and how you move it to your cash balance are details to read in PlayOJO's own help pages or the OJOplus area of your account.

A few points are clear from PlayOJO's published material. OJOplus applies to real-money play. It sits alongside PlayOJO's no-wagering approach, which is why its welcome spins pay winnings as cash. And it's separate from PlayOJO's other rewards, such as OJO Levels and Kickers, which we cover below.

Don't confuse OJOplus with a cashback offer that refunds a share of your losses. OJOplus is described as money back on bets, so it's tied to how much you stake rather than to how much you lose. Our cashback explainer covers the loss-based kind.

How to check your OJOplus money back on your phone

The app's layout can change between updates, so use this as a general route rather than an exact menu path.

  1. Download PlayOJO from the App Store or Google Play and log in with a verified account.
  2. Look for the OJOplus or rewards area in your account.
  3. Read the OJOplus terms there or in PlayOJO's help pages, including how the rate is set for each game type.
  4. Check how and when money back moves into your withdrawable balance.
  5. If anything is unclear, ask PlayOJO's live chat after logging in, or email support@playojo.com.

What OJOplus is worth against the house edge

The fairest way to judge any money-back scheme is to set it against the cost of play. That cost, on average, is total staked × house edge, where house edge is 100% minus the RTP shown in the game's help screen.

Expected cost of play on a 96% RTP slot, before any money back
Total stakedExpected cost at 4% house edgeOJOplus money backExpected cost after money back
£50£2£50 × the game's OJOplus rate£2 minus the money back
£100£4£100 × the game's OJOplus rate£4 minus the money back
£250£10£250 × the game's OJOplus rate£10 minus the money back
£500£20£500 × the game's OJOplus rate£20 minus the money back

Fill in the rate PlayOJO shows for your game and the arithmetic does the rest. Because money back is a fraction of each stake while the house edge is also a fraction of each stake, OJOplus trims the expected cost in proportion to how much you play. It doesn't turn the expected result positive, and short sessions can still end well above or below these averages.

Games with lower house edges cost less per pound staked to begin with. Our pages on house edge and how to find a game's RTP in an app show where to read the figures.

OJOplus vs wagering bonuses and cashback

OJOplus is easiest to understand next to the rewards it is often compared with.

Since 19 January 2026, UK bonus wagering can't exceed 10x the bonus, which has narrowed the gap between bonuses and no-wagering rewards. A bonus still has a play-through, though, while money back on each bet does not. Our explainers on no wagering and the UK wagering cap explain both.

OJOplus, OJO Levels, Kickers and OJO Club

OJOplus is one of several PlayOJO reward features, and its help pages describe the others briefly.

  • OJO Levels: you move up levels as you play. Levels only go up, and not every level brings a reward.
  • Kickers: daily perks that appear in your account.
  • OJO Club: an invitation-only tier with an assigned account manager.
  • Free spins from rewards: PlayOJO's help page says free spins expire after 24 hours, and the Rewards section shows the game, spin value and deadline.

Invitation-only VIP-style schemes are tightly regulated in the UK. Since 31 October 2020, operators must check that a high-value customer's spending is affordable and sustainable before offering VIP treatment, and a senior licensed manager must oversee each scheme. Our page on loyalty points on casino apps covers reward schemes more broadly.

Getting OJOplus on your phone: the PlayOJO app

PlayOJO is a casino-only brand with no sportsbook, so its app is a standalone casino app on both iPhone and Android. Both listings carry an adult rating.

The App Store listing (opens in a new tab) also says the app may use your location even when it isn't open, which can affect battery life. At 25.4 MB it's one of the lighter casino apps on iPhone. For install help, see the PlayOJO iPhone app and PlayOJO Android app pages.

Who runs PlayOJO, and how safe is it?

PlayOJO is operated by Skill On Net Limited, which holds a Gambling Commission licence under account 39326 for casino since 2014 and bingo since February 2020. The brand launched in February 2017, the register lists a head office in Limassol, Cyprus, and it also holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence. You can check the entry on the Gambling Commission public register (opens in a new tab).

On 23 May 2023 the Commission announced that Skill On Net would pay £305,150 after an investigation found social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures, as set out in the Commission's news release (opens in a new tab). On payments, PlayOJO says it processes most withdrawals within a few hours, lets you withdraw as little as you like and aims to verify documents within 12 hours. Our PlayOJO safety page has more.

Money back is not a reason to play more

A running money-back total can feel like progress, but it grows only because you've staked more. Over time the house edge means losses are the likely outcome, and money back reduces that cost rather than reversing it. Treat OJOplus as a small discount on entertainment you'd have chosen anyway.

PlayOJO's app listing names Safe Mate, Take A Break and deposit limits among its tools. Its help page says deposit limits sit under My Account > Settings > Deposit Limits, decreases apply straight away and increases take 24 hours, and time limits, loss limits, OJO Safeguard and self-exclusion are also available. See PlayOJO's safer gambling tools or call the National Gambling Helpline free on 0808 8020 133.

PlayOJO's welcome offer and two alternatives

OJOplus applies to real-money play, whereas the welcome offer is a one-off for new customers. If PlayOJO's approach appeals, its welcome offer follows the same no-wagering idea. Coral and Ladbrokes are alternatives built on free spins for slot play. 18+ and terms apply to every offer.

  • PlayOJO, 80 free spins with no wagering: new UK customers only (not Northern Ireland), first deposit of at least £10, spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each, winnings paid as cash. It can't be combined with other offers and is available only through the designated offer link. Face value: 80 × 10p = £8.
  • Coral, bet £10 on slots for 100 free spins: new players; running 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027; spins worth 10p each on selected games, 48 hours to accept, 7 days to use, no wagering on winnings. Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid card and certain debit card deposits don't qualify.
  • Ladbrokes, play £10 on slots for up to 500 free spins: new customers; 50 spins a day for 10 days at 10p on selected games, claim each batch by 23:59, use within 7 days, no wagering. Deposits by prepaid card, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill or Moneybookers don't qualify.

All three are slot offers, so don't expect to use them on live or table games. For a ranking built on no-wagering deals, see the best no-wagering casino apps, or compare two of them in Coral vs PlayOJO.

Frequently asked questions

Is OJOplus real money?

PlayOJO presents OJOplus as money back on every real-money bet, and its welcome offer pays spin winnings as cash with no wagering. Exactly how the money back reaches your withdrawable balance is set out in PlayOJO's help pages and the OJOplus area of your account, so read that before you rely on it. It's always a fraction of what you stake. Our page on whether casino app winnings are paid in cash explains how cash and bonus balances differ.

Does OJOplus have wagering requirements?

PlayOJO presents OJOplus as money back rather than a bonus to play through, and its welcome spins are a no-wagering offer that pays winnings as cash. That's the core difference from a deposit bonus, which in the UK can carry wagering of up to 10x the bonus since 19 January 2026. Check PlayOJO's current OJOplus terms for any conditions on how and when money back is paid. Our guide to what no wagering means explains the term.

How much money back do you get with OJOplus?

It depends on the OJOplus rate for the game you play, multiplied by what you stake. PlayOJO doesn't publish a single flat rate in the sources we rely on, so check the rate in the app or on its help pages. Whatever the rate, money back is a small share of each stake and doesn't outweigh the house edge over time. Our explainer on house edge shows how to work out the cost of play.

Does OJOplus apply to live casino and bingo?

PlayOJO's company description says money back applies to every game played, and its products are slots, live casino and bingo. Rates can differ by game type, so check the OJOplus terms for the specific game before assuming a figure. Remember that live casino games follow UK speed rules too, with at least 5 seconds per game cycle. See PlayOJO live casino and the PlayOJO games page for what's in the lobby.

Is OJOplus the same as cashback?

Not quite. OJOplus is described as money back on every bet, so it's linked to the amount you stake, whatever happens on the spin. Loss-based cashback refunds a share of net losses over a period and usually has its own terms. Both reduce the cost of play without removing the house edge. Our pages on cashback on a casino app and the cashback glossary entry explain the other kind.

Do I get OJOplus in the PlayOJO app and on the website?

OJOplus is a feature of your PlayOJO account rather than of one device, and the app listing names it among the app's features. The iPhone app is called PlayOJO Real Money Casino and the Android app PlayOJO: Online Casino Games, both published by Skill On Net Ltd. If you see a difference between app and browser, ask support. Our comparison of PlayOJO's app and website covers the rest.

Can OJOplus help me win back losses?

No. Money back is always smaller than the stakes that produce it, so playing more to build OJOplus means staking more and, on average, losing more. Chasing losses is a common sign that gambling is becoming a problem. If that sounds familiar, set a limit, take a break or talk to someone. Our page on what to do if you're worried about your gambling lists free help, including the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.

Is PlayOJO licensed in the UK?

Yes. PlayOJO is run by Skill On Net Limited under Gambling Commission account 39326, licensed for casino since 2014 and bingo since February 2020. In May 2023 the company agreed to pay £305,150 over social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures, which the Commission published. You can check the register entry yourself.
