Trustly casino apps in the UK

Trustly casino apps let you pay straight from your bank account: you pick your bank in the cashier and approve the payment with your bank's own security, with no card number typed in. Among our partners, PlayOJO and Casumo name Trustly. Here is how it works, who stands behind it, and what it means for bonuses and payouts.

Key takeaways

  • Trustly is a Pay by Bank service: you approve each casino deposit inside your own bank's app or login.
  • Trustly UK Limited is an Authorised Payment Institution regulated by the FCA (firm reference 1005703).
  • PlayOJO and Casumo name Trustly in their published payment information; Coral and Ladbrokes offer Pay by Bank through a different provider.
  • Trustly says it never stores your bank login details and can't take a payment you haven't authorised.
  • Card-based gambling blocks from some banks may not cover bank payments, so check how your bank's block works.

What Trustly is and why casino apps use it

Trustly is a payment company that moves money directly between your bank account and a merchant. In Trustly's own explanation of how paying with Trustly works (opens in a new tab), you choose your bank at checkout and approve the payment with whatever security your bank already uses. There is no card to add and no separate wallet to top up.

For a casino app on your phone, that means a deposit becomes a short trip into your banking app and back. It suits people who don't want card details saved in a gambling account, or who simply prefer to see the payment come straight out of their current account.

Trustly sells more than deposits. Its UK business lists pay-ins, pay-outs, Direct Debit payments and identity and account checks among its services for merchants. Whether a particular casino uses Trustly for withdrawals or for verification is up to that casino, so treat Trustly payouts as something to confirm in the cashier, not something to assume.

Is Trustly safe for casino payments? Regulation and security

Trustly's UK arm is a regulated payment business, not an unregulated middleman. Its UK company page (opens in a new tab) sets out the details, summarised below.

Bank login storageTrustly says it never stores your bank login details
AuthorisationTrustly says it can't make a payment without your authorisation
Fees to youNot stated on Trustly's help pages

The security model is the main attraction. Trustly's page on how it protects your payments (opens in a new tab) says your login details are not kept, and each payment needs your approval. Your bank's own checks, such as biometrics or a one-time code, still apply.

Being regulated doesn't make the casino itself safe, though. That depends on the app holding a Gambling Commission licence. Our guide to how casino apps are licensed in the UK shows how to check, and are casino apps safe? covers the wider picture.

Which casino apps accept Trustly: our partners

Only some operators name Trustly as the provider. Others offer the same kind of bank payment through a different company, which looks similar on screen but isn't Trustly. The table separates the two.

Casumo's UK FAQ lists Trustly among its deposit methods, with a £10 minimum for every method. Its published withdrawal table covers cards, PayPal, bank, Apple Pay, Skrill, Neteller and MuchBetter, but not Trustly by name, so plan on a bank payout of up to 5 days after approval unless the cashier offers otherwise. The Casumo app payments page has the full list.

PlayOJO names Trustly alongside debit cards, Payz and Apple Pay, and points you to the cashier for the current list. It says some deposit methods can take up to 3 working days to be credited, so a bank payment may not always appear instantly. More detail is on our PlayOJO payments page.

How to deposit with Trustly in a casino app

The steps below describe the general Trustly flow. Screens and wording vary between apps and banks, so follow what your own bank shows you.

  1. Verify your age and identity with the casino first; UK rules require this before any deposit.
  2. Set a deposit limit when prompted. Licensed apps must ask before your first deposit.
  3. In the cashier, choose Trustly or the bank payment option, then enter the amount.
  4. Select your bank from the list Trustly shows.
  5. Your phone switches to your banking app or bank login. Approve the payment with your usual security, such as Face ID, fingerprint or passcode.
  6. Return to the casino app and check the balance. If the money hasn't arrived, check the transaction history before paying again.

If the deposit fails, our guide to a declined casino app payment covers common causes, and first deposit in a casino app explains the limit prompt you'll see before paying.

Trustly vs debit cards and e-wallets in casino apps

Trustly sits between a card and an e-wallet. It moves real bank money like a card does, but you approve each payment in your bank like an open banking transfer. The comparison below uses what the providers and our partners publish.

The bonus row matters if you want an offer. None of our partners name Trustly as an excluded method in the terms we hold, while Skrill and Neteller are excluded by three of them. Casumo still says payment restrictions apply, so read its terms. Our pages on Skrill casino apps and debit cards give the other sides of the comparison.

Trustly and bank gambling blocks

Many banks let you block gambling payments, but those blocks are often built around card payments. Because Trustly takes money directly from your account rather than through a card, a card-only block may not stop it.

  • Revolut says its gambling block covers card payments and does not affect bank transfers or payments through third-party apps.
  • Lloyds says its gambling freeze does not cover direct debits or bank transfers.
  • HSBC's restriction, according to the Gambling Commission's list, includes its Pay by Bank app.

If you use a block to stay in control, ask your bank whether it covers payments started through providers such as Trustly. Adding GAMSTOP and the tools in our banking app blocks guide closes the gaps. Free, confidential support is available from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.

Trustly withdrawals from casino apps

Trustly can handle payouts for merchants, but whether you get money back through Trustly depends on the casino. Of our partners, PlayOJO says it returns money to the deposit method where possible and processes most payments within a few hours. Casumo publishes up to 5 days for bank withdrawals after approval, and approves or denies withdrawals within three days under its policy.

Whichever route is used, the casino's own review comes first. The Gambling Commission expects you to be able to withdraw without unreasonable delay, and a payout request can't be reversed back into play. Trustly casino apps with a welcome offer

PlayOJO and Casumo are the partners that name Trustly, and Coral is included for players happy to use another Pay by Bank provider. All offers are for new customers aged 18+, and terms apply.

Casumo: opt in for 50% up to £100 on a first deposit of at least £20, wagered 10x within 7 days, £5 maximum bet, with game and payment restrictions. Frequently asked questions

Which UK casino apps accept Trustly?

Among our partners, PlayOJO and Casumo name Trustly in their published payment information. Coral and Ladbrokes offer Pay by Bank too, but through a different provider, so you won't see the Trustly name there. 10bet's help centre doesn't name providers. The cashier always shows the current list, so check it before you sign up. Our PlayOJO payment methods page and Casumo payments page have the detail.

Is Trustly safe to use with casino apps?

Trustly is a regulated payment firm and says it never stores your bank login details. Trustly UK Limited is an Authorised Payment Institution regulated by the FCA, firm reference 1005703, and each payment needs your approval inside your bank. The casino's safety is a separate question and depends on its Gambling Commission licence. Our guide to spotting an unlicensed casino app shows what to check.

Does Trustly charge fees for casino deposits?

Trustly's help pages don't say it charges consumers a fee, but they don't rule one out either, so we can't confirm a figure. The casino may have its own rules: Casumo, for example, charges £3 on withdrawals under £10 but nothing from £10. Check the cashier before you pay and your bank statement afterwards. Our withdrawal fees guide lists each partner's published charges.

Can I withdraw to Trustly from a casino app?

Sometimes, but it depends on the casino. Trustly offers pay-outs to merchants, yet our partners don't all publish Trustly withdrawals. PlayOJO says it pays back to the deposit method where possible. Casumo's withdrawal table lists bank payouts of up to 5 days rather than Trustly by name. Look in the cashier's withdrawal options to see what is offered. Our guide on how long withdrawals take compares the methods.

Do I need a Trustly account to pay?

No, you don't need a separate Trustly account. You choose your bank in the casino's cashier and approve the payment using your normal online or mobile banking security. That makes it different from e-wallets such as Skrill, where you open and fund a wallet first. All you need is a UK current account with online banking set up. Our open banking casino payments page explains the technology behind it.

Does Trustly count for casino welcome bonuses?

None of our partners name Trustly as an excluded method in the offer terms we hold. Coral, Ladbrokes and 10bet exclude e-wallets such as Skrill and Neteller instead. Casumo says payment restrictions apply without listing them, so check its terms before depositing for the 50% bonus. All offers are 18+ with terms. Our page on payment methods excluded from bonuses tracks the exclusions by app.

Will my bank's gambling block stop Trustly payments?

Not always. Many bank blocks focus on card payments. Revolut says its block does not affect bank transfers or third-party apps, and Lloyds' freeze doesn't cover bank transfers. HSBC's restriction does include its Pay by Bank app, according to the Gambling Commission's list. Ask your bank how its block treats Trustly, and consider GAMSTOP self-exclusion as well. Our banking app blocks guide covers each bank.

What is the difference between Trustly and Pay by Bank?

Pay by Bank is the type of payment, and Trustly is one company that provides it. Both let you pay straight from your bank account and approve the payment in your bank. Coral and Ladbrokes offer Pay by Bank through a different provider, so the method works the same way there even though the Trustly name doesn't appear. Our pay by bank casino apps page covers the method across all providers.
