The PlayOJO slots app is the slot side of PlayOJO Real Money Casino on iPhone and PlayOJO: Online Casino Games on Android, which list slots and jackpot slots among their games. This guide covers the slot types you’ll meet, the UK stake caps, how to find any slot’s RTP before you spin, and what those numbers mean for a £20 budget.

Key takeaways

  • UK stake caps apply to every PlayOJO slot: £5 a spin if you’re 25 or over, £2 if you’re 18 to 24.
  • Each slot’s RTP must be available before you play; look on the game’s information or help screen.
  • Big Bass Bonanza, the welcome-spins slot, has a published RTP of 96.71%, high volatility and a 2,100x maximum win.
  • On a 96.71% slot, every £20 you stake costs about 66p on average, but short sessions swing far from that.
  • No autoplay, no turbo and at least 2.5 seconds per spin: those rules apply in the app as on the website.

What the PlayOJO slots app offers

PlayOJO doesn’t have a separate slots-only app. Slots live inside the main PlayOJO app, which the App Store lists as PlayOJO Real Money Casino (iOS 15.0 or later, 25.4 MB), and which Google Play lists as PlayOJO: Online Casino Games. Both are published by Skill On Net Ltd, licensed by the Gambling Commission under account 39326.

The listing splits the slot side into slots and jackpot slots. PlayOJO doesn’t publish a slot count or a studio list, so the lobby is where you’ll see what’s available. Every slot in it follows the same British rules on stakes, speed and RTP information, which is what this page is about. The PlayOJO app games page covers the rest of the lobby, and the main PlayOJO app review covers the app as a whole.

Slot types you’ll find in UK slot apps like PlayOJO

Slots differ mainly in how they decide a win and how their bonus rounds work. These are the formats most common in UK lobbies. Check PlayOJO’s app to see which it carries at any given time.

Common slot formats and what to check
FormatHow wins are madeWhat to check on the info screen
Payline slotsMatching symbols along fixed lines, left to rightNumber of lines and the paytable

If any of these are new to you, our glossary entries on Megaways, cluster pays and hold and win explain each in a couple of minutes.

Big Bass Bonanza: the PlayOJO welcome-spins slot

Big Bass Bonanza is the one slot we can firmly link to PlayOJO, because it’s the game the welcome spins are played on. Its specifications come from the developer.

The feature is a fishing round. Three, four or five scatters start 10, 15 or 20 free spins. During those spins, a Fisherman wild collects the cash value of every fish money symbol on screen. Every fourth Fisherman collected adds 10 more spins and steps up the multiplier on fish values to 2x, then 3x, then 10x.

Our full Big Bass Bonanza review covers it in more depth, and Big Bass Splash is a later game in the same series. The studio is profiled on our Reel Kingdom page.

UK slot stake limits on the PlayOJO slots app

Every online slot played in Great Britain has a maximum stake per spin, and it depends on your age. PlayOJO knows your age from the identity check at sign-up, so the cap is applied to your account automatically.

Online slot stake limits in Great Britain
Your ageMaximum per spinIn force since
25 and over£59 April 2025
18 to 24£221 May 2025

The cap applies per game cycle, which on a slot means one spin. It covers slots only, so table games and live casino follow their own table limits. The Gambling Commission explains the detail in its online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab), and GOV.UK’s announcement of the £2 maximum stake for under-25s (opens in a new tab) explains why younger adults have a lower cap.

In practice this means the stake selector won’t let you go above your cap. For more on how it works across apps, see slot stake limits on mobile and our explainer on the UK slot stake limits.

How to find a slot’s RTP in the PlayOJO app

British rules require the RTP, or the likelihood of winning, to be available before you commit to play, along with the rules and paytable. That’s set by the Commission’s RTS 3 standard on game information (opens in a new tab). Exact screen names vary by studio, so use this as a guide.

  1. Open the slot from the PlayOJO lobby but don’t spin yet.
  2. Look for an information, menu or help icon. It’s often an “i”, a question mark or three lines.
  3. Open the game rules or help section rather than just the paytable.
  4. Scroll to the end, where the theoretical return to player is usually stated as a percentage.
  5. If there’s a separate RTP for a feature or jackpot, note that too.
  6. If you can’t find the figure, ask PlayOJO’s live chat before playing.

Apps don’t have lower RTP by default, but some studios offer a game in more than one RTP version. That’s why the help screen in the app you’re using matters more than a figure you saw elsewhere. Our guide to finding a game’s RTP in an app has tips that work across studios.

What RTP and volatility mean for a £20 slot budget

RTP is a long-run average across millions of spins. A 96.71% RTP means the house edge is 3.29%, so every £20 staked costs about 66p on average (£20 × 0.0329). The stake size changes how many spins your £20 buys, and how big a single win can be.

£20 on Big Bass Bonanza at different stakes
Stake per spinSpins from £20 (before any wins)Average cost per £20 stakedTop win at 2,100x
10p200about 66p£210
50p40about 66p£1,050
£120about 66p£2,100

High volatility, which Big Bass Bonanza has, means wins are less frequent but can be larger. With only 20 spins at £1, you may lose the whole £20 before the free spins round appears. At 10p, the same budget gives you ten times as many spins, but each win is ten times smaller. Neither changes the average cost per pound staked.

Read our glossary entries on RTP and volatility for the definitions, and remember that no pattern or timing improves your odds. Each spin is independent.

UK slot design rules you’ll notice in the PlayOJO app

If you’ve played slots outside Britain, a few things will feel different. They are rules for every UK-licensed slot, not PlayOJO choices.

  • No autoplay. You start every spin yourself (since 31 October 2021).
  • At least 2.5 seconds per spin, with no turbo, quick-spin or slam-stop to cut it short.
  • No false celebrations. A return equal to or less than your stake can’t be shown as a win with sounds or animations.
  • Net spend and time on screen. Since 17 January 2025, your running net position and time played must be shown.
  • No feature buys. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players.

Our UK game design rules page covers each in full, and what the 2.5 second rule is explains the spin-speed limit.

OJOplus money back on PlayOJO slots

The App Store listing describes OJOplus as money back on every bet, which includes slot spins. The rate isn’t stated in the listing, so look it up in the app’s terms rather than assuming one.

A small amount back on each spin lowers the effective cost a little. It doesn’t change the slot’s RTP or make a profit likely, and it shouldn’t be a reason to spin more. Our page on what OJOplus is gives the full picture.

Playing PlayOJO slots on a phone: practical tips

Modern slots are built to run on phone screens, but how each one fits depends on the studio. Some play upright, others ask you to turn the phone sideways. The PlayOJO listing doesn’t say which slots work in portrait, so try the game and see.

  • Slots use far less data than live casino, but games download graphics when you first open them. Use Wi-Fi for a new game if your data allowance is tight.
  • If a spin is interrupted by lost signal, the result is usually settled by the game’s server. Reopen the game to see the outcome.
  • Turn on a reality check or session reminder in your account settings if you lose track of time.
  • Keep your phone and the app updated so games load properly.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a separate PlayOJO slots app?

No. Slots are part of the main PlayOJO app: PlayOJO Real Money Casino on iPhone and PlayOJO: Online Casino Games on Android, both published by Skill On Net Ltd. The app also includes jackpot slots, bingo, table games and live casino. One login covers everything. See the PlayOJO iPhone app page for installation details and the iOS version required.

What is the maximum stake on PlayOJO slots?

The maximum is £5 per spin if you’re 25 or over and £2 per spin if you’re 18 to 24. These are UK legal limits that came into force on 9 April 2025 and 21 May 2025, and they apply to every online slot in Great Britain. PlayOJO applies the cap based on the date of birth verified at sign-up. Our slot stake limits page has the full rules.

How do I check the RTP of a slot on PlayOJO?

Open the slot, then tap its information, menu or help icon before you spin. The game rules section normally states the theoretical RTP as a percentage near the end. UK rules require this information to be available before you play. If you can’t find it, ask PlayOJO’s live chat. Our guide to how to find RTP in a casino app explains where studios usually put it.

What is the RTP of Big Bass Bonanza on PlayOJO?

Big Bass Bonanza has a published RTP of 96.71%, with high volatility, 10 paylines and a maximum win of 2,100x the stake. Some studios offer more than one RTP version of a game, so check the help screen in the PlayOJO app for the figure that applies there. Our Big Bass Bonanza slot review covers the features and how it plays on a phone.

Can I use autoplay on PlayOJO slots?

No. Autoplay has been banned on online slots in Great Britain since 31 October 2021, and on all online casino games since 17 January 2025. You need to start each spin yourself, and each spin must take at least 2.5 seconds. Turbo and slam-stop features are also banned. Read why there’s no autoplay on UK casino apps for the reasons behind the rule.

Are PlayOJO slots fair?

PlayOJO is licensed by the Gambling Commission, and UK rules require online games to use random outcomes and forbid adjusting results to hit a target return. Rules, payouts and probabilities can’t change while a game is live. That doesn’t mean you’ll win: every slot has a house edge, so losses are likely over time. Our page on whether casino apps rig games explains how fairness is checked.

Do PlayOJO slots have jackpots?

Yes, the App Store listing includes jackpot slots as a category. PlayOJO doesn’t say which jackpot networks it carries, so check the jackpot section of the lobby. Jackpot slots can have a different RTP from standard games, because part of each stake may fund the prize, so check the help screen. Our guide to jackpot slots on mobile explains fixed and progressive jackpots.

Can I buy bonus features on PlayOJO slots?

No. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players, so UK versions of slots don’t have a button to pay for the bonus round. You have to trigger features through normal play. That’s why a slot’s UK version can look slightly different from clips you see online. Our game design rules page covers the other UK slot rules.
