Can I log in to a casino app with Face ID?
Can I log in to a casino app with Face ID? On some apps, yes. Apple lets developers offer Face ID and Touch ID sign-in, and Casumo's App Store listing says its iPhone app supports both. Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and 10bet don't mention it in their listings, so check each app's settings rather than assuming it's there.
Key takeaways
- Face ID login is an app-by-app feature: Casumo's iPhone listing mentions it, the other partner listings don't.
- Apple says Face ID data stays on your device and the app only learns whether the check passed.
- Anyone whose face or fingerprint is enrolled on your phone could pass the check, which matters on a shared device.
- Faster sign-in also removes a pause before you play, so pair it with deposit limits and reality checks.

Face ID login on casino apps: it depends on the app
Face ID sign-in is something each operator chooses to build. Apple's Face ID and Touch ID overview (opens in a new tab) says developers can allow biometric authentication to sign in to their apps, but nothing requires a casino app to offer it.
Among our five partners, only Casumo states it in the App Store listing: its iPhone app supports Face ID and Touch ID login. The listings for Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and 10bet say nothing either way. That doesn't prove the feature is missing, but it means you'll need to look in the app's account or security settings after installing it. More short answers live in our casino app questions hub.
Which UK casino apps mention Face ID login?
This table uses each app's App Store listing. It shows what the operator says, not how the app behaves on any particular phone.
| App (App Store name) | Face ID / Touch ID in listing | Requires | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casumo Casino & Sports Betting | Yes, both stated | iOS 15.0 or later | 52.5 MB |
| Coral Casino: Slots & Games | Not mentioned | iOS 18.0 or later | 101.6 MB |
| Ladbrokes Casino Games & Slots | Not mentioned | iOS 18.0 or later | 101.2 MB |
| PlayOJO Real Money Casino | Not mentioned | iOS 15.0 or later | 25.4 MB |
| 10bet: Sports Betting & Casino | Not mentioned | iOS 16.0 or later | 112.3 MB |
Casumo's App Store listing (opens in a new tab) also mentions Apple Pay with Quick Deposit, a home screen widget and Quick Launch of your last four slots. Our Casumo iPhone app page covers the full listing, and the Coral iPhone app page, Ladbrokes iPhone app page and PlayOJO iPhone app page cover the others.
How Face ID login works inside a casino app
When an app offers Face ID, it asks iOS to check that the person holding the phone is the enrolled owner. iOS does the comparison and simply tells the app whether it passed. Apple's Face ID security explainer (opens in a new tab) says Face ID data is encrypted, protected by a key available only to the Secure Enclave, doesn't leave your device and is never available to apps or to Apple.
Apple puts the chance of a random person getting past it with their face at less than 1 in 1,000,000 with a single enrolled appearance. So the casino operator never receives a picture of your face. It receives a yes or a no, and then uses its own sign-in system to open your account.
The glossary has short definitions of Face ID and biometric login, and our Face ID and Touch ID guide goes into more depth.
How to set up Face ID login in a casino app
Where an app supports biometric sign-in, the setup normally follows the same pattern. Exact wording varies by app, so look for the option rather than a specific menu name.
- Make sure Face ID is set up on your iPhone in Settings, under Face ID & Passcode.
- Update the casino app so you have the latest version from the App Store.
- Open the app and sign in once with your username or email and password.
- Look in your account, profile or security settings for a biometric or Face ID login option and switch it on.
- Approve the iOS prompt asking whether the app may use Face ID.
- Log out and back in once to check it works, and keep your password somewhere safe for when it doesn't.
If the option isn't there, the app doesn't offer it yet. Our iPhone casino apps guide explains other device settings worth knowing.
Fingerprint and face sign-in on Android casino apps
On Android, none of the partner Google Play listings mention fingerprint or face sign-in, including Casumo's, whose Android listing is titled Casumo - Live Casino & Slots. Some apps may still offer it, so check the account settings after installing.
Our Android phones guide covers installs and settings, and install a casino app on Android explains how to find the right listing.
Is Face ID safer than a password on a casino app?
Face ID mainly guards against someone who picks up your phone while it's open. It doesn't replace your password, which still protects your account on the website and on any other device. Each method covers a different risk.
| Method | Main strength | Main weakness |
|---|---|---|
| Password only | Works everywhere you sign in | Can be guessed, reused or stolen |
| Face ID or Touch ID in the app | Face data stays on the phone; quick to use | Only covers that device; anyone enrolled can pass |
| Two-step verification (2SV) | Blocks access even if your password leaks | Takes a little longer; text codes are weaker than an authenticator app |
The NCSC says two-step verification (opens in a new tab) makes it harder for criminals to get into your accounts even if they know your password, and that a text-message code, while not the strongest option, is far better than nothing. If your casino app offers 2SV, turn it on as well. See do casino apps use two-factor authentication? and keeping your casino account secure.
Face ID on a shared or family phone
The check confirms an enrolled face or finger, not you specifically. If a family member's fingerprint is registered in Touch ID on your phone, or a second appearance has been added to Face ID, that person could pass the check in any app that relies on it.
If anyone else uses your phone, especially anyone under 18, consider leaving biometric login off for gambling apps and signing in with a password each time. Parents can also use Screen Time content restrictions to block app installs. Our guides to sharing a phone with casino apps and whether someone else can use your casino app go into this.
Quicker log-ins and keeping control of your play
Typing a password is a small pause, and some people find that pause useful. Face ID removes it, so the app is a glance away. That isn't a reason to avoid the feature, but it is worth pairing with tools that put a pause back in.
- Set a deposit limit; since 31 October 2025, UK operators must prompt you to set one before your first deposit.
- Choose how often reality checks appear, so you see how long a session has run.
- Use iPhone Screen Time to limit the app; our Screen Time blocking guide shows how.
- Turn off marketing notifications you don't want.
Gambling should cost what you're happy to spend on entertainment, since the house edge means losses are likely over time. Our deposit limits guide explains the options.
Face ID not working in a casino app?
If biometric sign-in stops working, sign in with your password for now, then try these checks in order:
- Confirm Face ID works for opening the phone itself.
- Check the app still has Face ID permission in your iPhone's Face ID & Passcode settings.
- Update the app and iOS; Coral and Ladbrokes need iOS 18.0 or later.
- Sign in with your password, then switch biometric login off and on again in the app.
- If you can't remember the password, use the app's reset option.
For anything beyond this, see casino app login problems or what happens if you forget your casino app password.

Frequently asked questions
Which casino apps let you log in with Face ID?
Among our partners, Casumo is the one whose App Store listing states Face ID and Touch ID login on iPhone. The Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and 10bet listings don't mention it, which means you should check the app's own settings rather than assume. Features can change with updates, so the app itself is the best guide. Our Casumo iPhone app page lists what that app's App Store listing describes.
Can a casino app see my face when I use Face ID?
No. Apple says Face ID data is encrypted, stays on your device and is never available to apps or to Apple. The casino app only learns whether the check succeeded, then signs you in through its own system. Check the app's privacy label to see what other data it collects. Our guide to how to read a casino app privacy label explains the categories.
Is Face ID login safe for a gambling app?
It's a secure way to confirm the phone's owner, since Apple puts the chance of a random face match at less than 1 in 1,000,000. The weak points are elsewhere: anyone else enrolled on your phone can pass, and your password still protects the account on other devices. Use a strong, unique password and two-step verification if the app offers it. See choosing a strong casino password.
Can I use Touch ID instead of Face ID?
Where an app supports biometric login, it generally uses whichever method your device has. Casumo's listing names both Face ID and Touch ID. Touch ID can store more than one fingerprint, so anyone whose finger is enrolled on the phone could pass the check. On a shared device, think about who is registered before switching it on. Our Face ID and Touch ID guide compares the two.
Do Android casino apps support fingerprint login?
Some may, but none of our partners' Google Play listings mention fingerprint or face sign-in, so check the app's settings after you install it. If the option isn't there, use a strong password and the app's two-step verification if available. Our guide for Android phones covers other settings, and best casino apps for Android compares the partner apps on that platform.
Do I still need a password if I use Face ID?
Yes. Face ID only works on the phone where you set it up, so you'll need your password to sign in on the website, on a new phone or after reinstalling the app. You'll also need it whenever biometric sign-in fails. Keep it strong and unique to that casino account, and store it somewhere safe. If you've lost it, see what happens if you forget your casino app password.
Should I turn off Face ID if my child uses my phone?
It's sensible to. If a child has access to your phone while it's open, or their face or fingerprint is enrolled, quick biometric login makes your gambling app easier to open. Signing in with a password each time adds a barrier, and Screen Time can block installs and limit apps. Casino apps are 18+, and UK operators must verify age before anyone plays. See young people and gambling apps.
Why has Face ID stopped working in my casino app?
Common causes are a lost permission, an out-of-date app or iOS version, or a change to how Face ID is set up on the phone. Check Face ID works for opening the phone, then confirm the app is still allowed to use it in your iPhone's Face ID & Passcode settings. Update the app and iOS, sign in with your password and switch the feature back on. If problems continue, our guide to casino app login problems has further fixes.
