Pay by mobile casino deposits
Pay by mobile casino deposits can mean two things: charging a deposit to your phone bill, or paying from your phone with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Pay by Bank. None of our five partner apps publishes phone bill billing, but several list the phone-based options, which also handle withdrawals better.
Key takeaways
- Phone bill (carrier) billing isn't listed by any of our five partner casino apps; check the cashier of any app before assuming it.
- Apple and Google don't let real-money casino apps take payments through App Store or Google Play billing.
- Apple Pay, Google Pay and Pay by Bank let you deposit from your phone without typing card numbers.
- A phone bill can't receive winnings, so you'd always need a second method to withdraw.
- Phone bill billing at partners
- Not published by any partner
- Apple Pay
- Coral, Ladbrokes, Casumo, PlayOJO
- Google Pay
- Coral and Ladbrokes (£5 minimum)
- Pay by Bank
- Coral and Ladbrokes via TrueLayer; Casumo via Trustly
- App store billing
- Not allowed for real-money gambling
What pay by mobile casino deposits really means
People searching for pay by mobile casino deposits usually want one of two things. Some mean carrier billing, where the deposit is added to your phone bill or taken from pay-as-you-go credit. Others simply mean paying from their phone, using a wallet or banking app rather than a card.
The difference matters. Carrier billing is a separate payment method that a casino has to support. Phone wallets and Pay by Bank are mainstream methods that our partner apps list on their help pages. This page covers both, starting with the one you'll actually find.
| Method | Where the money comes from | How you approve it | Can it receive withdrawals? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone bill (carrier billing) | Your mobile bill or prepaid credit | A confirmation step set by the billing provider | No |
| Apple Pay or Google Pay | The debit card stored in the wallet | Face ID, Touch ID, passcode or screen lock | Depends on the app; often paid to the card underneath |
| Pay by Bank | Your bank account directly | Your banking app login or biometrics | Yes, where the app supports it |
How pay by phone bill works
With carrier billing, a payment company sits between the merchant and your mobile network. You enter your mobile number, confirm the charge, and the amount is added to your monthly bill or taken from your credit. You never share a card or bank details.
Boku is one of the best-known companies in this space. It describes itself as a global network of local payment methods that includes direct carrier billing, and it's listed on AIM in London. According to Boku's list of group entities (opens in a new tab), its UK carrier billing business names Ofcom as the regulator for premium rate service complaints, while a separate UK company is an FCA-authorised e-money institution.
Boku's own pages don't mention gambling, so they don't tell you whether a given network or casino allows it. None of our partners publishes deposit limits or fees for phone bill payments either, because none of them lists the method.
On a pay-monthly contract, a carrier billing deposit is spending that shows up on a bill you settle later. That delay makes it easier to lose track, so set a deposit limit in the casino app whichever method you use.
Why casino apps don't use App Store or Google Play payments
Some people expect to fund a casino app the way they buy a game upgrade, through their Apple or Google account. That isn't allowed. Apple's App Store Review Guidelines (opens in a new tab) say apps may not use in-app purchase to buy credit or currency for real-money gaming, and real-money gambling apps must be free to download.
Google Play's policy says the same thing in its own words: a real-money gambling app must be free to install and must not use Google Play's in-app billing. So deposits always go through the casino's own cashier, never your App Store or Play balance. Our guide to App Store rules for casino apps has the full background.
If an app asks you to buy 'coins' through the App Store, it's a social casino app with no cash prizes, not a real-money casino. Our explainer on what a social casino app is covers the difference.
Which UK casino apps accept pay by mobile?
We checked what our five partners publish. None lists phone bill payments on its help pages, while most list at least one phone wallet.
| App | Phone bill | Apple Pay | Google Pay | Pay by Bank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coral | Not published | Yes | Yes (£5 minimum) | Yes, TrueLayer (£5 minimum) |
| Ladbrokes | Not published | Yes | Yes (£5 minimum) | Yes, TrueLayer (£5 minimum) |
| Casumo | Not published | Yes | Not published | Trustly and Instant Banking |
| PlayOJO | Not published | Named on help page | Not published | Trustly named |
| 10bet | Not published | Not published by 10bet | Not published | Not published by 10bet |
'Not published' doesn't always mean unavailable. It means the operator doesn't say, so open the cashier and look before you plan around it. Each brand's page lists its methods: Coral payments, Ladbrokes payments and Casumo payments.
Paying by mobile on iPhone with Apple Pay
On an iPhone, Apple Pay is the closest thing to a one-tap mobile deposit. Apple says it doesn't store your original card number; a device-specific number is used instead, and you confirm each payment with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. Apple's Apple Pay security overview (opens in a new tab) explains this, and Apple charges no fee for using it.
- Add a debit card to Apple Wallet if you haven't already. A credit card in the wallet will be refused by casino apps.
- Open the casino app, log in and go to the deposit area.
- Choose Apple Pay and enter the amount, staying within any limit you've set.
- Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
- Check the deposit has reached your casino balance.
Casumo's iPhone app listing specifically mentions Apple Pay and a Quick Deposit feature. More detail is in our guide on how to deposit with Apple Pay in a casino app and the Apple Pay casino apps page.
Paying by mobile on Android with Google Pay
Google Pay works on a similar principle. A randomly generated number stands in for your card number, and a locked device can't make purchases. At Coral and Ladbrokes, the minimum Google Pay deposit is £5, and Ladbrokes' Google Pay help page (opens in a new tab) says withdrawals are paid to the card underneath.
- Make sure a debit card is saved in Google Wallet and your phone has a screen lock.
- Open the casino app and head to the cashier.
- Pick Google Pay, type the amount and confirm.
- Confirm with your fingerprint, face or PIN when your phone asks.
- Look for the deposit in your balance and your bank feed.
Our step-by-step guide to depositing with Google Pay in a casino app covers what to do if the option doesn't appear.
Pay by Bank: a mobile deposit approved in your banking app
Pay by Bank is the other strong mobile option. You choose your bank in the cashier, your banking app opens, and you approve the payment with your usual login or biometrics. Money moves straight from your account, and no card number reaches the casino.
The two Entain apps, Coral and Ladbrokes, use TrueLayer for this, with a £5 minimum. Casumo and PlayOJO name Trustly. Our Pay by Bank casino apps guide covers the details, including the fact that some bank gambling blocks don't stop this kind of payment.
Withdrawals when you deposit by mobile
This is where carrier billing falls down. A phone bill can only be charged; it can't receive money. Even at a casino that took phone bill deposits, you'd need to add a bank account or card to withdraw, which brings in extra verification at the moment you want your money.
Phone wallets and Pay by Bank avoid that. Coral and Ladbrokes confirm withdrawals to Apple Pay and Google Pay, with Google Pay payouts going to the card underneath, and Casumo lists Apple Pay withdrawals as arriving instantly after approval. Neither Entain brand charges a withdrawal fee. Our fastest withdrawal methods page compares payout speeds method by method.
Keeping mobile deposits under control
Fast payments are convenient, and that's also the risk. A deposit that takes two seconds with Face ID needs a limit behind it. Since 31 October 2025, UK operators must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit, and decreases take effect immediately.
- Set a deposit limit in the casino app; see our guide to deposit limits in casino apps.
- Use your bank's gambling block if you need a firmer barrier. HSBC's debit card restriction covers digital wallets such as Apple Pay.
- Remember the credit card ban. Gambling with a credit card, including through a wallet, is banned in Great Britain; our page on the credit card ban explains it.
- Get support early. The National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24/7.
Gambling should be paid for from money you can afford to lose. The house edge means losses are the likely result over time, however quickly the deposit went in.

Frequently asked questions
Can I pay for casino deposits with my phone bill?
Not at any of our five partner apps, because none of them publishes phone bill billing on its help pages. Some payment companies, such as Boku, offer carrier billing in general, but you'd need to see it in a specific casino's cashier before relying on it. Apple Pay, Google Pay and Pay by Bank are the mobile options our partners actually list. Our casino app payment methods hub and the Apple Pay casino apps page explain them.
Can I buy casino credit through the App Store?
No. Apple's App Store Review Guidelines say apps may not use in-app purchase to buy credit or currency for real-money gaming, and Google Play bans its in-app billing for real-money gambling apps. Deposits always go through the casino's own cashier. If an app sells coins through the App Store, it's a social casino with no cash prizes. Our App Store rules page and do casino apps have in-app purchases cover this.
Is Apple Pay the same as pay by mobile?
It's a form of paying by mobile, but not phone bill billing. Apple Pay charges the debit card stored in your Wallet, and you confirm each payment with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. Apple says it doesn't store your original card number and doesn't charge a fee. Coral, Ladbrokes, Casumo and PlayOJO all name Apple Pay. Our guide to depositing with Apple Pay walks through the steps.
Can I withdraw winnings to my phone bill?
No. Carrier billing only charges money; there's no route for winnings to come back onto a phone bill or prepaid balance. You would need a debit card, bank account or e-wallet to withdraw, and adding one later can mean extra checks. Paying with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Pay by Bank avoids that, because the same route can usually take your payout. See how to withdraw from a casino app for the process.
What's the minimum mobile deposit at UK casino apps?
It depends on the app and method. Coral and Ladbrokes publish a £5 minimum for Google Pay and Pay by Bank. Casumo's minimum is £10 for every method, although its welcome offer needs £20. PlayOJO and 10bet don't publish general minimums, so check the cashier. Our page on casino app minimum deposits compares these, and can I deposit £5 on a casino app answers the quick version.
Do mobile payments count towards casino welcome offers?
Often, but always check. Coral's welcome offer excludes Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards. Ladbrokes excludes prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers. Neither names Apple Pay or Google Pay as excluded, but the card behind the wallet still matters. Casumo says payment restrictions apply without listing them. Our page on payment methods excluded from bonuses brings the rules together.
Is it safe to pay a casino app with my phone?
Phone wallets are generally a secure way to pay. Apple Pay uses a device-specific number rather than your card number, and Google Pay uses a virtual card number and needs a screen lock. Pay by Bank keeps your bank login inside your banking app. The bigger safety question is the casino itself, so stick to UK-licensed apps. Our guides on whether casino apps are safe and saving a card in a casino app help.
Can my bank block mobile casino payments?
Yes, for many banks, though coverage varies. HSBC's debit card gambling restriction includes digital wallets such as Apple Pay and the Pay by Bank app. Other banks, including Lloyds and Revolut, say their blocks don't cover bank transfers. Starling says its block may not catch every gambling payment. Check what your bank's block covers before relying on it. Our bank gambling blocks guide and can my bank block casino app payments explain more.
