One app for sport and casino: how Betfred is built

Betfred puts its sportsbook, its Betfred Games slots, the casino and live casino into a single download. That's why the App Store files it under Sports rather than Casino. Our explainer on why some sportsbook apps include a casino covers the reasoning behind this approach.

The upside is one login, one balance and one app to keep updated. The downside is that casino players carry the betting side too, and the sportsbook's promotions sit in the same app. If you only want casino games, a standalone casino app keeps things simpler.

Lottery play is the exception. Betfred runs a separate Lotto app, so lotto numbers aren't part of this download.

Which iPhones, iPads and Macs run the Betfred app

The iOS 17.0 minimum is a year more forgiving than the iOS 18.0 that Coral's and Ladbrokes' casino apps ask for. If your iPhone can't update past iOS 17, Betfred will still install where those apps won't. The guide to casino apps on older phones explains how to check.

A 49 MB download: Betfred against other casino apps

Betfred's app is compact. At 49 MB, it takes less than half the space of Coral's 101.6 MB casino app or Ladbrokes' 101.2 MB, even though it also carries a full sportsbook. Casino games are generally loaded from the operator's servers when you open them, which helps keep app downloads small.

Betfred iPhone app privacy: what to read before installing

The privacy label for Betfred's listing wasn't captured in the information available to us. Before you tap Get, scroll to the App Privacy section of the listing and check three headings: data used to track you, data linked to you and data not linked to you.

Casino apps normally collect financial details, contact information and identifiers because UK rules require identity checks and transaction records. What's worth watching is tracking: Coral's label, for example, lists user content and usage data as used to track you, while Ladbrokes' label shows no tracking category. Installing the Betfred app on your iPhone

1. Check your iPhone runs iOS 17.0 or later in Settings, under General and About.
2. Make sure you have at least 49 MB free, plus room for updates.
3. Open the App Store and search for Betfred Sports, Casino & Games.
4. Confirm the listing shows Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Ltd as provider and an 18+ rating.
5. Read the App Privacy section, then tap Get and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password.
6. Open the app, register or log in, and complete age and identity verification before depositing.
7. Set a deposit limit when prompted; UK operators must offer you that choice before your first deposit.

Inside the casino section: games and Jackpot King

The App Store description promises 'over 2,000 Betfred Games', covering slots, casino, live casino and jackpots, including Jackpot King titles. A third-party site quotes a far lower figure, so treat the count as the operator's own claim. Betfred 777 Jackpot King is named in Betfred's welcome offer terms.

Paying in and cashing out with the Betfred iPhone app

Betfred's own pages list Visa debit, Mastercard debit, Instant Bank Payments, BACS and Open Banking for deposits. Apple Pay isn't on that list. The minimum deposit 'varies by method and is shown on screen', and credit cards aren't accepted for UK residents, in line with the 2020 ban.

Betfred's licence, ownership and regulatory record

Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Limited, trading as Betfred, appears on the Gambling Commission register under account 1058, and it's the provider named on the App Store. Betfred is privately owned and not part of a listed group. Whether account 1058 holds the online casino licence wasn't confirmed; a third-party page names Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited as the app's owner. • 7 November 2025: Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Limited received an £825,000 financial penalty, a warning and an additional licence condition for anti-money-laundering breaches (May 2024 to March 2025) and customer interaction failures (May to November 2024). Trade press linked the case to gaming machine and retail failings.
• June 2026: the Commission announced that Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited would pay £900,000 (opens in a new tab) over social responsibility failures linked to betfred.com.
• 28 September 2022: Betfred was fined £2.87m with an official warning for anti-money-laundering and social responsibility failures, including no controls on high-velocity spending by new customers and safer gambling triggers set too high. The licensee entity wasn't named in the report.

Support, limits and blocks on iPhone

A third-party feature describes live chat through Betfred's Contact Us page and a Twitter account, with no phone line; email availability is unclear. Betfred's own pages link to its safer gambling section, GamCare, GAMSTOP and Take Time to Think, but the specific tools weren't listed in the sources available.

Whatever the app offers, your iPhone can add its own barriers.
