Debit card casino apps UK

Debit card casino apps UK players can use include every one of our five partners, because a debit card is the one card type British gambling rules allow. Since they all take it, the real differences are what happens after you cash out: how quickly money reaches your card, the caps and fees, and whether your card counts for the welcome offer.

Key takeaways

  • All five partner apps take debit cards; credit cards have been banned for gambling in Great Britain since 14 April 2020.
  • Coral and Ladbrokes publish the quickest card route: Visa Fast Funds approval typically within a couple of hours, then typically up to 4 hours to the bank.
  • Casumo says card withdrawals take up to 2 days and charges £3 on withdrawals under £10; 10bet says up to 2 business days.
  • Coral's welcome offer excludes 'certain debit cards', so check your card qualifies before relying on the spins.
  • Most big UK banks let you block gambling payments on a debit card from their app.

Debit card casino apps UK: the short answer

Every partner app on this site accepts debit cards: Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet. That makes the card the safest default if you just want one method that works for paying in and cashing out.

Because acceptance is universal, we've ranked these apps on the parts that differ: published payout times back to a card, per-deposit caps and minimums, withdrawal fees and how the card sits with each welcome offer. If you want rankings by other methods, start from our best casino apps hub.

Why debit cards are the only cards UK casino apps take

Two rules do the work here. The Gambling Act 2005 separates a debit card payment from credit: section 81 (opens in a new tab) defines a debit card payment as one taken from a bank account using a card that isn't a credit-token under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. And since 14 April 2020, the Gambling Commission's licence conditions stop operators taking credit card payments for gambling, including through a payment service in between.

In practice that means your Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard works, and a credit card doesn't, even if it's saved inside Apple Pay or loaded into an e-wallet. The Commission's consumer guide to the credit card ban (opens in a new tab) sets this out. Our page on the credit card ban covers its history.

What we weighed for debit card casino apps

We rank only our five partners, from what operators and app stores publish. We haven't deposited or withdrawn ourselves. For card users, the questions are practical:

  1. Published card payout time. A named route with a stated time beats 'as quickly as possible'.
  2. Caps, minimums and fees. What the app says about deposit limits, small withdrawals and charges.
  3. Offer fit. Whether a debit card deposit qualifies for the welcome offer, or whether some cards are carved out.
  4. Clarity of help pages. Can you find card rules without contacting support?
  5. The app. Standalone casino app or sportsbook wrapper, with the iOS version and size from the App Store listing.

The final order also reflects our editorial app scores. Read each entry for the trade-offs; the 'best' one depends on whether speed, small balances or the offer matters most to you.

Best debit card casino apps UK, ranked

1. Coral Casino: the fastest published card route

Coral's help centre lists Visa, Mastercard and Maestro, and its Visa Fast Funds page (opens in a new tab) says approval typically takes a couple of hours, then the money typically reaches the bank within up to 4 hours, with payouts over £2,000 slower. No withdrawal fees are charged, and a single UK deposit is capped at £2,000.

There's a catch for new players: Coral's welcome offer excludes 'certain debit cards' without listing them on the offer, so confirm yours before counting on the spins. UK accounts are also limited to 3 active payment methods in a rolling 30 days. The app, Coral Casino: Slots & Games, is a standalone casino download, 101.6 MB on iOS 18.0 or later. See Coral withdrawals.

2. Ladbrokes Casino: the same card rules, a cleaner offer fit

Ladbrokes runs on the same platform and licence as Coral (LC International Limited, account 54743), so the card facts match: Visa Fast Funds timing, no withdrawal fees, a £2,000 per-deposit cap and the 3-methods rule. Its offer exclusions name prepaid cards and e-wallets but not debit cards, which is a small point in its favour for card users.

It ranks second on our overall app scores rather than on card handling. The app, Ladbrokes Casino Games & Slots, is standalone, 101.2 MB on iOS 18.0 or later. Bear in mind one person may not be able to open new accounts at both Entain brands. More on Ladbrokes payment methods.

3. PlayOJO: good for small balances

PlayOJO names debit cards on its help page and says it processes most payments within a few hours, returning money to the deposit method where possible. It lets you hold up to two non-verified cards at a time and says you can withdraw as little as you want, which suits players who cash out modest amounts.

What isn't published is a card-specific arrival time once a payout leaves PlayOJO, and some deposit methods can take up to 3 working days to credit. The app, PlayOJO Real Money Casino, is a compact 25.4 MB on iOS 15.0 or later. Our PlayOJO withdrawals page has more.

4. Casumo: clear timings, a small-withdrawal fee

Casumo takes Visa and Mastercard with a £10 minimum deposit for every method. Its homepage says withdrawals are usually reviewed within hours and card payouts then take up to 2 days; its policy allows up to 3 days for approval. That's slower than Visa Fast Funds but clearly stated.

The drawback is the fee: its withdrawal policy (opens in a new tab) charges £3 on withdrawals under £10. On iPhone, Casumo is a combined casino and sportsbook app, 52.5 MB on iOS 15.0 or later, and the listing mentions Face ID and Touch ID login.

5. 10bet: card payouts in up to 2 business days

10bet's help centre names debit cards as a withdrawal category and says they take up to 2 business days. It doesn't publish a minimum deposit, minimum withdrawal or fee policy, so check the cashier. Debit card deposits are listed in third-party reviews rather than on its own pages.

The app is a sportsbook first, 10bet: Sports Betting & Casino, 112.3 MB on iOS 16.0 or later and listed under Sports. A plus if a card payment goes wrong: 10bet lists a UK phone line, 0808 175 0550, from 08:00 to 23:00 daily.

Debit card withdrawals: a £100 cash-out at each app

Every withdrawal has two parts: the operator's review, then the time your bank takes to receive the money. Here's what each partner publishes for a £100 withdrawal to a debit card, before any extra checks.

Identity checks can add time, so verify your account before you need to withdraw. UK operators can't offer to reverse a withdrawal back into your balance, and they can't confiscate money because you didn't verify within a time limit. Our guide on how long casino app withdrawals take explains the stages.

The Casumo fee is worth a quick sum. Withdraw £8 and £3 goes in fees, so £5 arrives: 37.5% of your withdrawal gone. Withdraw £10 or more and there's no charge. Small, frequent cash-outs suit PlayOJO or the Entain apps better on the published facts.

Minimums that aren't published will be shown in the app's cashier. For a wider comparison see our page on casino app minimum deposits.

Debit card deposits and casino app welcome offers

A debit card is usually the method most likely to qualify for a welcome offer, because the exclusions tend to target e-wallets and prepaid cards. Coral is the exception to watch: its terms exclude 'certain debit cards' alongside Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill and prepaid cards. The offer page doesn't say which debit cards, so ask support or read the full terms first.

Elsewhere, Ladbrokes names prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers, 10bet names Skrill and Neteller, and Casumo says payment restrictions apply. PlayOJO's offer names no payment exclusions but is available only through its designated offer link. Our guide to reading bonus terms shows where to look.

A welcome offer is optional. Whatever card you use, slot bonuses come with conditions, and the house edge applies while you play through them.

How to add a debit card to a casino app

Screens vary between apps, so look for the deposit or payment methods option in your account rather than expecting a fixed menu. The general steps are:

  1. Finish sign-up and age and identity checks; UK apps must verify you before you can deposit.
  2. Set a deposit limit when the app prompts you before your first deposit (UK operators must offer this).
  3. Open the deposit area and choose debit card.
  4. Enter the card in your own name; cards belonging to someone else won't be accepted.
  5. Approve any check your bank sends to your phone or banking app.
  6. Confirm the balance has updated, then make a note of the amount in your own budget.

Visa, Mastercard or Maestro: does the card brand matter?

For deposits, rarely. Visa Debit and Debit Mastercard are both widely listed. For withdrawals it can matter: the fastest published route at Coral and Ladbrokes is Visa Fast Funds, which, as the name says, is a Visa service. A Mastercard holder there falls under the general published window of 'instantly to five banking days' after approval.

Maestro is on its way out. According to Adyen's guide (opens in a new tab), Mastercard stopped issuing Maestro in Europe from 1 July 2023, existing cards may work until they expire, and Maestro will stop working by 2027 at the latest. Both Entain apps still list it, but a replacement Debit Mastercard is the safer long-term choice. Our page on Visa debit casino apps covers the Visa side.

Gambling blocks on your debit card

One advantage of a debit card is that your bank can stop it paying gambling merchants. Many UK banks offer this in their app, as the Gambling Commission's list shows. The block usually works on card payments, so it covers casino apps and digital wallets at some banks but may not cover bank transfers.

BarclaysMerchant control toggle blocks debit card payments to gambling merchantsNo delay published

Barclays explains its version on its merchant control help page (opens in a new tab). A card block works best alongside app tools and GAMSTOP; our guide to bank gambling blocks covers each bank in more detail.

Choosing a debit card casino app, and what to avoid

Match the app to how you play

  • Speed matters most and you hold a Visa Debit: Coral or Ladbrokes, for the published Fast Funds route.
  • You cash out small amounts: PlayOJO publishes no minimum withdrawal; avoid sub-£10 withdrawals at Casumo.
  • You want a phone line for card problems: 10bet publishes one with daily hours.
  • You play sport and casino on one app: 10bet and Casumo are combined apps; Coral and Ladbrokes keep casino separate.

Card habits to avoid

  • Using a card that isn't in your name, which apps will reject.
  • Trying a credit card, or a credit card inside a wallet: it's not allowed.
  • Spreading deposits across lots of cards, which makes spending harder to track and can hit method limits.
  • Assuming every debit card qualifies for Coral's welcome offer.
  • Turning off a bank gambling block on impulse: the built-in delay is there to help.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best debit card casino apps in the UK?

On published facts, Coral and Ladbrokes lead for debit card users because they publish the fastest card route, Visa Fast Funds, and charge no withdrawal fees. PlayOJO suits small balances with no minimum withdrawal, Casumo states clear card times but charges £3 under £10, and 10bet says card payouts take up to 2 business days. All five take debit cards. Compare them on our real money casino apps list.

How long do debit card withdrawals take from casino apps?

It depends on the app and your card, from a few hours to a few days. At Coral and Ladbrokes, Visa Fast Funds approval typically takes a couple of hours, then typically up to 4 hours to the bank. Casumo says card payouts take up to 2 days after review, and 10bet says up to 2 business days. Identity checks can add time. Our fast withdrawal casino apps page compares every method.

Can I use a credit card on a UK casino app?

No. Credit card gambling has been banned in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, and the ban also covers credit card payments made through a payment service in between, such as a credit card saved in a digital wallet. You need a debit card or another method funded from your own money. If you're tempted to borrow to gamble, please pause and see our page on gambling help and support.

Why was my debit card declined by a casino app?

The most common reasons are a gambling block on your card, unfinished verification, a card in someone else's name, or a method limit in the app. The Entain apps, for example, allow 3 active payment methods in a rolling 30 days for UK accounts. Your bank may also ask you to approve the payment in its app first. Our payment declined guide walks through each cause and fix.

Does a debit card deposit qualify for casino welcome offers?

Usually, yes, because most exclusions target e-wallets and prepaid cards. The exception among our partners is Coral, whose terms exclude 'certain debit cards' without naming them on the offer page, so check before relying on the spins. Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and 10bet don't name debit cards as excluded, and Casumo says payment restrictions apply. See our guide to payment methods excluded from bonuses.

Can I still use a Maestro card at a casino app?

Possibly, for now. Coral and Ladbrokes still list Maestro, but Mastercard stopped issuing Maestro cards in Europe from 1 July 2023, and Adyen says Maestro will stop working by 2027 at the latest. If your bank has sent you a Debit Mastercard, switch to that before your Maestro card expires. Our debit card deposits guide explains the change in more detail.

Do casino apps charge fees for debit card withdrawals?

Most of our partners don't charge, but one does in a specific case. Coral and Ladbrokes say they charge no withdrawal fees, while Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals under £10 and nothing at £10 or more. PlayOJO and 10bet don't publish a fee policy, so check the cashier. Your own bank may have its own charges. Our casino app withdrawal fees page has the full picture.

Can I block my debit card from casino apps?

Yes, most major UK banks let you block gambling payments on a debit card. Barclays has a merchant control toggle, HSBC keeps declining for 3 days after you turn its restriction off, Lloyds and Starling have a 48-hour delay, and Monzo makes you wait out a cooldown you choose. Card blocks may not cover bank transfers. See our guide to gambling blocks on banking apps.
