Money Train 3 slot review

The Money Train 3 slot is Relax Gaming’s 2022 sequel: 5 reels, 4 rows, 40 fixed paylines, a 96.1% RTP and a 100,000x stake ceiling. Relax puts its volatility at the top of its own scale, so this review focuses on what the Money Cart bonus does, what that means for a small budget, and how it plays in a UK casino app.

Money Train 3 slot at a glance

Money Train 3 is the third game in the Relax Gaming series that began with Money Train in 2019. It arrived in 2022 and kept the series’ Wild West heist theme, but raised the stakes on paper: the cap jumped to 100,000x, five times the original’s ceiling.

The reel set is the same shape as before, 5 reels by 4 rows, with 40 fixed paylines. Fixed means every spin covers all 40 lines, so your stake is spread across them and you can’t switch lines off to play cheaper.

How the features work in Money Train 3

The game has two layers: a base game with a wild and a random respin feature, and the Money Cart bonus where nearly all of the big results live.

Base game: wilds and the random respin

In the base game a wild stands in for the ordinary pay symbols to help complete line wins. Now and then a respin feature can start at random. When it does, one symbol type is held in place while the rest of the grid spins again, and multiplier symbols landing during that feature add to the win.

The Money Cart bonus

Land three or more bonus symbols and you enter the Money Cart. This is a hold-and-win style round, not a free spins round. You start with three respins. Any new symbol that lands sticks and resets the counter to three, and the round ends only when you use up all three respins without anything new arriving.

Money Train 3 adds a twist to that format. Filling the reels opens extra reels, which gives the round more space for symbols to land. Special symbols then work on the values already on screen, and some of them come in persistent versions that keep acting on every respin rather than just once.

Money Train 3 RTP, volatility and cost per hour

The published RTP of 96.1% means the game is designed to return £96.10 for every £100 staked over a very large number of spins. The house edge is the other 3.9%, and that is your average cost: stake × 3.9%.

The cost per hour depends on how many spins you play. UK rules set a minimum of 2.5 seconds per slot spin, so the hard ceiling is 1,440 spins an hour. Most people play slower, so the table uses an illustrative 400 spins an hour.

Average cost of 400 Money Train 3 spins (96.1% RTP)
Stake per spinTotal stakedAverage loss at 3.9%
10p£40£1.56
50p£200£7.80
£1£400£15.60
£5£2,000£78.00

Volatility describes how that cost arrives. Relax rates this game at the top of its scale, which means the return is concentrated in rare, larger results. In practice, a session can pass with little more than small line wins, and your real result can sit far above or below the averages in the table.

A £20 budget on the Money Train 3 slot

A fixed budget is the clearest way to keep a high-volatility game under control. Here’s how £20 stretches at three common stakes, assuming you don’t re-stake winnings.

£20 on Money Train 3 at 10p, 50p and £1
StakeSpins from £20Average loss on £20 staked onceWhat it means
10p20078pThe most time and the best chance of seeing a Money Cart round
50p4078pA short session; a bonus may not arrive at all
£12078pVery short; the budget can go before any feature

The average loss is the same 78p at every stake, because it’s 3.9% of £20. What changes is how many spins you get. With a top-of-scale game, fewer spins means a higher chance your budget runs out before the bonus shows up.

  1. Pick a budget you’re happy to spend on entertainment, and decide it before opening the app.
  2. Set a deposit limit in your casino account so the budget is enforced for you.
  3. Choose a stake that gives you enough spins; at 10p, £20 lasts 200 spins.
  4. Keep an eye on the net spend and time played, which UK casino games must show in real time.
  5. Stop when the budget is gone, and don’t top up to chase a bonus that hasn’t landed.

Money Train 3 max win in pounds

The top prize is capped at 100,000x your stake. At 10p that’s £10,000, at £1 it’s £100,000 and at the £5 UK maximum for players aged 25 and over it’s £500,000.

That ceiling describes how the game is built, not what you should expect. A very high cap usually comes with a payout pattern where most sessions return less than you put in and the large results are rare. Treat the figure as a limit, not a target.

Playing Money Train 3 on iPhone and Android

Money Train 3 runs inside a casino app or mobile browser like other modern HTML5 slots, so there’s nothing separate to download. Whether it opens in portrait or landscape depends on the casino’s app and the game build; our guide to landscape vs portrait mode explains what to expect.

The Money Cart is the busiest part on a phone. Values sit on top of symbols, extra reels open and persistent symbols keep acting, so small text is the main issue on compact screens. Turning the phone sideways, if the game allows it, usually makes the values easier to read.

  • Install casino apps only from the Apple App Store or Google Play, and check that the publisher matches the casino. See our pages on iPhone casino apps and Android phones.
  • Long respin rounds keep the screen on, so battery and data use rise during a bonus.
  • If the connection drops mid-round, UK technical standards set out how interrupted games are handled; our guide on what happens to a bet if your app crashes covers this.

UK rules for Money Train 3 in casino apps

British versions of online slots must follow the Gambling Commission’s technical standards, so Money Train 3 in a UK app can differ from versions offered elsewhere.

The stake caps come from the Commission’s online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab), and the speed and celebration rules sit in RTS 14 on responsible product design (opens in a new tab). Our pages on slot stake limits and game design rules explain both.

Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players. In a UK app you reach the Money Cart only by landing the bonus symbols in normal play.

Money Train 3 vs the rest of the series

Each sequel keeps the Money Cart idea and changes the numbers. This table uses only verified specifications.

Money Train 3 slot review verdict

Money Train 3 is built for players who enjoy one long, layered bonus round and accept that most sessions won’t reach it. The extra reels and persistent symbols give the Money Cart more depth than the original, but the top-of-scale volatility makes it an expensive game to play at high stakes on a small budget.

Advantages

  • 96.1% RTP, with the house edge clearly stated
  • Money Cart adds extra reels when you fill the grid
  • Persistent special symbols can build up across a long round
  • Base-game respin feature adds interest between bonuses

Drawbacks

  • Volatility at the top of Relax’s scale means long dry spells
  • Lower RTP than Money Train 2
  • Busy bonus screen can be hard to read on small phones
  • No way to buy the bonus in the UK

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of the Money Train 3 slot?

Money Train 3 has a published RTP of 96.1%, so the house edge is 3.9%. That means an average long-run cost of 3.9p for every £1 you stake, although any single session can land well above or below that. Casinos can sometimes choose between RTP versions of a game, so check the figure in the game’s help screen. Our guide on finding a game’s RTP in an app shows where to look.

How does the Money Cart bonus work in Money Train 3?

Three or more bonus symbols start the Money Cart, a hold-and-win style round that begins with three respins. Each new symbol that lands sticks and resets the count to three. Filling the reels opens extra reels, and special symbols such as Collectors, Payers, Snipers and Necromancers change the values on screen, with persistent versions acting on every respin. The paytable explains each one; see our hold-and-win entry for the general format.

What is the maximum win on Money Train 3?

The maximum win is 100,000x your stake. That’s £10,000 at 10p a spin, £100,000 at £1 and £500,000 at the £5 UK maximum for players aged 25 and over. It’s a ceiling built into the game, not a likely outcome, and most sessions return less than you stake. Our page on UK slot stake limits explains the £5 and £2 caps.

Is Money Train 3 high volatility?

Yes, Relax Gaming places Money Train 3 at the top of its own volatility scale. Wins tend to come in rare, larger bursts, mainly through the Money Cart, with long stretches of small or no wins in between. That makes a low stake and a fixed budget sensible. Read more in our explainer on what volatility means on a slot app.

Can I buy the Money Cart bonus in the UK?

No, you can’t buy the bonus on British versions of the game. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players. UK players reach the Money Cart only by landing three or more bonus symbols during normal spins. Our guide to the UK game design rules covers the other limits that apply to slots in apps.

Does Money Train 3 work on mobile?

Yes, Money Train 3 is an HTML5 slot that runs inside casino apps and mobile browsers on iPhone and Android. The busy bonus screen is easier to read on a larger phone or in landscape if the game supports it. Install casino apps only from official stores and check the publisher; our iPhone casino apps page explains what to look for.

Is Money Train 3 better than Money Train 2?

It depends on what you value. Money Train 2 has the higher RTP at 96.40% and a 50,000x cap, while Money Train 3 has a 96.1% RTP, a 100,000x cap and extra reels in the bonus. If a lower long-run cost matters most, the second game edges it. See our Money Train 2 review for the full comparison.

Who makes Money Train 3?

Money Train 3 is made by Relax Gaming, a studio founded in 2010 that began in Tallinn, Estonia, and is now based in Malta. It has made its own slots since 2018, and the Money Train series is its best-known work. It holds a Gambling Commission licence, account 37462. Our Relax Gaming studio page lists its other games.
