Money Train 4 slot in numbers
Money Train is the best-known series from Relax Gaming, a studio founded in 2010 that has made its own slots since 2018 and holds a Gambling Commission licence (account 37462). The fourth game arrived in 2023 and moved the series to a 6x6 grid with scatter pays.

OLBG’s Money Train 4 review (opens in a new tab) confirms the 6x6 scatter-pays grid, the 150,000x cap and the two RTP versions, and describes the game as very high volatility.
How the features work in Money Train 4
Scatter pays on a 6x6 grid
There are no paylines. A win happens when 8 or more matching symbols land anywhere in view on the 6x6 grid. They don’t need to touch or sit on adjacent reels; the count is all that matters.
The base game respin feature
During ordinary spins, a respin feature can trigger at random. It gives the base game an extra chance at a result without starting the full bonus. The paytable explains exactly what the respin does in the version your casino runs.
The Money Cart bonus
Three or more bonus scatters start the Money Cart. It’s a respin round rather than free spins: you begin with 3 spins, and any new symbol that lands sticks in place and resets the count to 3. The round ends when 3 spins pass without anything new sticking.
The bonus grid starts at 6 × 4. Filling rows can open extra rows, up to four more, which gives later symbols more room to land and keeps the round going.
Special symbols in the Money Cart
Much of the value comes from special symbols that change the numbers already on the grid. They include Collectors, Payers, Snipers, Necromancers and Shapeshifters. The Shapeshifters are persistent, which means they stay on the grid and keep acting on later respins rather than working once. Each character’s exact effect is described in the game’s paytable, and the version in your app is the one that counts.
Money Train 4 RTP: 96.1% or 94%?
The default RTP is 96.1%. A 94% version also exists, and OLBG reports it’s the one most UK casinos use. The difference sounds small, but it changes the house edge from 3.9% to 6%, which is a 54% higher average cost per spin.
This table uses an illustrative 350 spins an hour to show both versions side by side. UK rules allow at most 1,440 spins an hour.
| Stake | Total staked | Average loss at 96.1% | Average loss at 94% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10p | £35 | £1.37 | £2.10 |
| 50p | £175 | £6.83 | £10.50 |
| £1 | £350 | £13.65 | £21.00 |
| £5 (25+ maximum) | £1,750 | £68.25 | £105.00 |
Games must make their rules and return information available, as the Gambling Commission’s RTS 3 standard (opens in a new tab) sets out. So you can check which version you’re playing before you stake anything.
- Open the Money Train 4 game inside your casino app.
- Tap the menu, info or question-mark icon on the game screen.
- Find the rules or game information section and look for the RTP or “return to player” figure.
- If it shows 94%, decide whether you’re comfortable with the higher average cost or prefer a game with a higher RTP.
- Compare the same game in a different app if RTP matters to you, as casinos choose their own versions.
Our guide on finding a game’s RTP in an app has step-by-step help, and our RTP on mobile explainer explains why apps don’t get a lower RTP by default.
What £20 means on the Money Train 4 slot
| Stake | Spins | Average loss at 96.1% | Average loss at 94% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10p | 200 | 78p | £1.20 |
| 50p | 40 | 78p | £1.20 |
| £1 | 20 | 78p | £1.20 |
Average loss depends on the RTP and the total staked, not the stake size. What the stake changes is how many spins you get. With high volatility and a bonus that carries most of the value, 200 spins at 10p gives you a far better chance of seeing a Money Cart round than 20 spins at £1.
Whichever stake you choose, set a deposit limit in the app first, and look at our budgeting guide for casino apps if you want a simple way to plan sessions.
The Money Train 4 max win in pounds
The cap is 150,000x your stake. At 10p that’s £15,000, at 50p it’s £75,000, at £1 it’s £150,000 and at the £5 UK maximum for players aged 25 and over it’s £750,000.
A cap this high is a sign of how the game’s return is distributed: a very large share sits in very rare outcomes. Most sessions will return less than you stake.
How Money Train 4 compares with earlier games
Each Money Train game has raised the cap. Here are the published figures for the four we cover; the OLBG overview of the Money Train series (opens in a new tab) gives more background.
| Slot | Released | RTP | Max win |
|---|---|---|---|
| Money Train | 2019 | 96.2% | 20,000x |
| Money Train 2 | Not stated | 96.40% | 50,000x |
| Money Train 3 | 2022 | 96.1% | 100,000x |
| Money Train 4 | 2023 | 96.1% (94% version exists) | 150,000x |
The biggest change in the fourth game is the grid: scatter pays on 6x6, where Money Train 3 used 40 fixed paylines. Read our reviews of Money Train, Money Train 2 and Money Train 3 to compare. Money Train 2 has the highest listed RTP of the four.
Playing Money Train 4 on iPhone and Android
If your casino app lists Money Train 4, it opens within the app with no extra download. The account and balance are the same as on the casino’s mobile site.
On a phone, the bonus is the most demanding part. Values sit on many symbols, extra rows open, and persistent Shapeshifters keep acting, so small text is the main challenge. A larger phone or tablet helps. Whether it opens upright or sideways depends on the app and game build, as our landscape vs portrait guide explains.
- Install casino apps only from the official App Store or Google Play listing. See iPhone and Android phones.
- If your connection drops mid-bonus, the result is settled on the casino’s server; see what happens if your app crashes.

Frequently asked questions
What is the RTP of Money Train 4?
The default RTP is 96.1%, a house edge of 3.9%. A 94% version also exists, which raises the house edge to 6%, and OLBG reports that most UK casinos use it. The version your casino runs is shown in the game’s info screen. Our guide to whether RTP is lower on casino apps explains how versions work.
What is the max win on Money Train 4?
The maximum win is 150,000 times your stake, the highest in the Money Train series we cover. At 10p that’s £15,000, at £1 it’s £150,000 and at the £5 UK maximum for over-25s it’s £750,000. Wins anywhere near that are extremely rare. Compare it with Money Train 3, which caps at 100,000x.
How do scatter pays work in Money Train 4?
There are no paylines in this game. Instead, you win when 8 or more matching symbols land anywhere on the 6x6 grid in one spin. Position doesn’t matter, only the count. The paytable shows what each symbol pays for 8 or more at your stake. Our paytable glossary entry explains how to read one.
How do you trigger the Money Cart bonus in Money Train 4?
Land three or more bonus scatters in one spin. The Money Cart then starts with 3 respins on a grid that begins at 6 × 4. New symbols stick and reset the count to 3, and filling rows can open up to four extra rows. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players. See our hold-and-win glossary entry.
Is Money Train 4 high volatility?
Yes. Money Train 4 is rated high volatility, and OLBG describes it as very high. Most of the return is concentrated in the Money Cart, so long runs of small or no wins are normal. Lower stakes give you more spins for the same budget. Our explainer on volatility in slot apps has more detail.
Who makes Money Train 4?
Relax Gaming makes Money Train 4. The studio was founded in 2010, began in Tallinn, Estonia, is now headquartered in Malta and has made its own slots since 2018. It holds Gambling Commission account 37462 and also runs the Dream Drop jackpot network. Our Relax Gaming studio page covers the company.
Can I play Money Train 4 on mobile?
Yes, if your casino carries it, Money Train 4 runs inside the casino app or mobile site without a separate download. The Money Cart shows many values at once, so a bigger screen makes it easier to follow. Our guide to slots on mobile covers general tips for playing on a phone.
