How the features work in Money Train 2

The base-game respin feature

If two bonus symbols land in the base game, a respin feature starts. The multipliers on those two symbols are added together to make one combined multiplier. The reels then respin until a win lands, and after every losing respin the multiplier goes up by one.

So the feature always ends on a win, and the longer it takes, the bigger the multiplier applied to that win. The help screen shows how the combined multiplier is applied.

The Money Cart bonus round

Three or more bonus symbols trigger the Money Cart round. It starts with three spins. Every time a new special symbol lands, the count resets to three, so the round keeps going for as long as new symbols keep arriving.

Filling an entire reel opens an extra reel, and this can happen up to two times, widening the grid.

The special symbols

Money Cart special symbols
Symbol typeNamed in the game rules
Standard special symbolsCollector, Payer, Sniper, Necromancer
Persistent versionsAct again on every later spin of the round

The names give a rough idea of their roles, but the precise effect of each one, and how the persistent versions behave, is set out in the game's paytable. Persistent symbols matter because they keep working for the rest of the round rather than once.

Read the Money Cart rules in the help screen before you play. They explain each special symbol's effect far better than any summary.

What Money Train 2 costs per hour on a UK app

An RTP of 96.40% leaves a 3.60% house edge. The table assumes 600 spins in an hour, one every six seconds, which is well within the 2.5-second minimum that UK rules set.

Money Train 2: average cost of 600 spins (3.60% edge)
StakeTotal staked in an hourAverage expected lossSpins a £20 budget covers with no returns
10p£60£2.16200
50p£300£10.8040
£1£600£21.6020

At £1 a spin, the average loss over an hour is already more than a £20 budget. At 10p, the same hour averages about £2.16. That gap is why stake size matters far more than the RTP difference between games.

High volatility makes the real path bumpier than these averages. Much of the game's value sits in the Money Cart round, and it can take a long time to appear. A £20 budget at 50p gives 40 attempts, which is often not enough to see it.

The 50,000x Money Train 2 max win in pounds

  • 10p stake: up to £5,000
  • 50p stake: up to £25,000
  • £1 stake: up to £50,000
  • £2 stake (UK maximum for 18 to 24): up to £100,000
  • £5 stake (UK maximum for 25+): up to £250,000

These are ceilings set by the game's maths and reached extremely rarely. A higher cap means a longer tail of possible results, not a better chance of winning. Casinos' own terms may also include payout rules, so read them before playing.

Money Train 2 vs the rest of the Money Train series

Each instalment changes the cap and the grid. All figures are the published ones for each game.

Of the four, the second instalment has the highest published RTP. Money Train 3 and Money Train 4 raise the cap sharply, while the original Money Train has the lowest. Money Train 4 also switches to a 6 × 6 scatter-pays grid.

Checking the Money Train 2 RTP in a casino app

The app version of a slot isn't lower-paying by default. The game comes from the same Relax Gaming servers whether you play in an app or a browser. Some casinos may run an alternative RTP setting where one exists, so it pays to check.

  1. Search the casino app's lobby for Money Train 2 and confirm the number in the title.
  2. Open the game and tap the information or settings icon before spinning.
  3. Find the RTP statement in the rules and compare it with 96.40%.
  4. Read the Money Cart section so the special symbols make sense when they land.
  5. Choose your stake, set a limit in the app, and spin one tap at a time.

Our guide to finding a game's RTP in an app covers this on iPhone and Android.

Playing Money Train 2 on your phone

Relax Gaming builds its games in HTML5, so Money Train 2 runs inside casino apps and mobile browsers. The Money Cart grid can widen by up to two reels, which puts more on screen at once; a larger phone or tablet makes the symbols easier to read.

Our sources don't say whether the game supports portrait mode, so try both orientations. If your connection drops during a long bonus round, the casino's terms explain how unfinished rounds are completed; our guide to how casino apps handle disconnections gives the general picture.

UK rules that apply to Money Train 2

The Gambling Commission's stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab) caps online slot stakes at £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24, from 9 April 2025 and 21 May 2025. Our slot stake limits page explains the age checks behind it.

Since 31 October 2021, its technical standards (opens in a new tab) have required at least 2.5 seconds per spin and banned autoplay, turbo, slam-stop and celebrating returns at or below the stake. Respins and Money Cart spins are part of a paid spin, so they don't need a fresh tap. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players, so the Money Cart can't be bought on UK apps. See our game design rules overview.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Money Train 2?

Its published RTP is 96.40%. Over a very large number of spins, that means an average return of £96.40 for every £100 staked, so the house edge is 3.60%. It's the highest published figure in the Money Train series. Confirm the version at your casino in the game's help screen, using our RTP guide.

How does the Money Cart bonus work?

You reach the Money Cart round when three or more bonus symbols land. You get three spins, and the count resets to three whenever a new special symbol lands. Filling a reel opens an extra reel, up to two in total. Special symbols include Collector, Payer, Sniper and Necromancer, plus persistent versions that act on every later spin. See our multiplier glossary entry for related terms.

What happens when two bonus symbols land in Money Train 2?

Two bonus symbols in the base game start a respin feature. Their multipliers are added together, then the reels respin until a win lands. After every losing respin, the multiplier rises by one. The feature ends on the first win. It is triggered at random through normal play and can't be bought on UK apps. Our game design rules page explains why.

What is the max win on Money Train 2?

The maximum win is 50,000 times the stake. At 10p that's £5,000, at £1 it's £50,000 and at the £5 UK maximum for players aged 25 and over it's £250,000. It is reached extremely rarely, and losses are more likely over time because of the house edge. Money Train 3 lists a higher 100,000x cap.

Which Money Train game has the best RTP?

Of the four main games, the second has the highest published RTP at 96.40%. The original Money Train lists 96.2%, while Money Train 3 and Money Train 4 both list 96.1%. The differences are small next to the effect of your stake size. Read our Money Train 4 review for the newest instalment.

Who makes Money Train 2?

The game comes from Relax Gaming, founded in 2010 by Patrik Österåker and Jani Tekoniemi. The company began in Tallinn, Estonia, is now headquartered in Malta and holds a Gambling Commission licence under account number 37462. It has made its own slots since 2018 and also runs the Dream Drop jackpot network. See our Relax Gaming page.

Can I play Money Train 2 on my phone?

Yes, provided your casino has it in the lobby. It is an HTML5 game, so it runs inside casino apps on iPhone and Android and in mobile browsers. The bonus grid can widen, so a larger screen helps. Search the app's lobby for the exact title. Our best slot apps list compares the apps themselves.

Is Money Train 2 high volatility?

Yes, it's rated high volatility. Much of its value sits in the Money Cart round, which can take a long time to trigger, so many spins return little or nothing. At £1 a spin, a £20 budget gives just 20 attempts. Lower stakes stretch the budget further. Our volatility glossary entry explains the ratings.
