Casino app accessibility features

Casino app accessibility features come from three places: your phone's own settings, the casino app itself, and the UK rules every licensed game has to follow. Most of the heavy lifting is done by the phone, because few casino app listings say much about accessibility. This guide shows what each layer offers and how to set it up.

Key takeaways

  • Your phone's accessibility settings do most of the work; casino app listings rarely describe accessibility.
  • Of the partner listings, only Casumo's mentions Face ID and Touch ID login and a haptic feedback toggle.
  • UK rules require easily available game rules, visible elapsed time and reality checks you can set.
  • Deposit limits, time-outs and reality checks also help with memory, attention and pacing.
  • If something in an app isn't usable for you, contact support and keep a record.

Casino app accessibility features: what to expect

If you're looking for a casino app with a dedicated accessibility menu, you'll probably be disappointed: the App Store and Google Play listings for the partner apps on this site don't describe one. What they do have is an app running on iOS or Android, both of which come with extensive accessibility settings that work across most apps.

On top of that, UK-licensed games have to meet Gambling Commission standards that happen to help many players: rules you can open before playing, elapsed-time displays, reality checks and slower game speeds. The rest of this guide takes each layer in turn. For a vision-specific walkthrough, see casino apps for players with visual impairments, and for the full list of how-tos, the guides hub.

Three layers of casino app accessibility

Where accessibility features in casino apps come from
LayerExamplesWho controls it
Phone (iOS or Android)Larger text, bold text, zoom or magnification, screen reader, colour filters, reduced motion, mono audioYou, in the phone's Settings app
Casino appBiometric login, haptic feedback, widgets, quick launch of recent gamesThe operator; check the store listing
GamesPaytable and rules screens, sound settings, layout and orientationThe game's developer
UK rulesRules available before play, elapsed time, reality checks, minimum game speeds, no autoplayThe Gambling Commission, applied to every licensed operator
Account toolsDeposit limits, time-outs, reality checks, self-exclusionYou, in the app's account settings

A setting at one layer doesn't always reach the next. Larger system text, for example, usually changes menus and the cashier but may not change text drawn inside a slot's reels, because the game draws its own graphics.

What partner app listings say about accessibility-related features

Here's what the UK App Store and Google Play listings mention. "Not mentioned" means only that the listing doesn't say so; the feature may still exist, so check the app or ask support.

Accessibility-related features named in partner store listings

Coral Casino: Slots & GamesNot mentionedSafer gambling tools
Ladbrokes Casino Games & SlotsNot mentionedFree-to-play games, LadBucks rewards

Casumo's listing stands out for features that reduce effort: biometric login, a toggle for vibration feedback and a shortcut to recently played slots. See the Casumo app review for the full picture, and our Face ID login list for apps that support it.

Phone accessibility settings that help in casino apps

Both iPhone and Android group these under Accessibility in the Settings app. Names differ slightly between manufacturers, so search the Settings app if you can't spot one.

  • Larger or bold text: makes menus, the cashier and help pages easier to read.
  • Zoom or magnification: enlarges any part of the screen, including game graphics that ignore text size.
  • Screen reader (VoiceOver on iPhone, TalkBack on Android): reads out labelled buttons and text.
  • Colour filters and increased contrast: can help tell red and black apart on a roulette layout.
  • Reduce motion: cuts some animation in the phone and in apps that respect the setting.
  • Mono audio and captions: useful for live dealer audio if you hear better in one ear.
  1. Open the Settings app on your phone and go to Accessibility.
  2. Turn on one change at a time, such as larger text.
  3. Open your casino app and look at the lobby, cashier, account settings and one game.
  4. Note what changed and what didn't; game screens often behave differently from menus.
  5. Keep the settings that help and turn off any that make the app harder to use.

Easier logins: Face ID, Touch ID and two-step verification

Typing a long password on a small keyboard is a real barrier for some players. Biometric login removes that step where an app supports it. Apple's Face ID security overview (opens in a new tab) says Face ID data is encrypted, doesn't leave your device and is never available to apps; the app is only told whether the check succeeded.

Two-step verification adds a code to your login. The NCSC's guidance on 2-step verification (opens in a new tab) says it makes accounts harder to break into even if a password is known, and that authenticator apps are the main alternative to text codes. If reading codes is difficult, ask support which methods the app supports.

Our guides to Face ID and Touch ID on casino apps and two-factor authentication for casino accounts give step-by-step set-up.

UK rules that make casino games easier to follow

None of the Gambling Commission's technical standards is written as an accessibility rule, but several help anyone who needs more time or clearer information.

  • Rules before you play (RTS 3A): an explanation of the rules must be easily available before you commit to gamble, and reasonable steps must be taken to make it understandable. On small screens it must at least be reachable from a menu or link.
  • Game state (RTS 3B): where relevant, the game must show enough for you to understand its current state, such as the number of tokens collected.
  • Elapsed time (RTS 13C): casino games must show elapsed time for the whole session.
  • Reality checks (RTS 13B): you choose how often a time reminder appears, and you have to acknowledge it to clear it.
  • Slower games: at least 2.5 seconds per slot spin and 5 seconds per cycle in other casino games, with no autoplay, turbo or slam stop.
  • No multi-game play: since 17 January 2025 you can't play several casino games at once.

The full background is in our game design rules page and the Commission's RTS 13 standard (opens in a new tab).

Accessibility for memory, attention and pacing

Accessibility isn't only about seeing or hearing the screen. Keeping track of time and money can be harder for some people, and the account tools in casino apps are designed for exactly that.

  • Deposit limits: set a daily, weekly or monthly cap. Since 31 October 2025, operators must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit.
  • Reality checks: set them to a frequency that suits you, for example every 15 or 30 minutes.
  • Time-outs: take a short break from your account without closing it.
  • Net position: since 17 January 2025, operators must show net spend and time spent in real time.
  • Transaction history: a written record of deposits and withdrawals you can check at your own pace.

PlayOJO's help page says limit decreases apply immediately and increases take 24 hours. For walkthroughs, see setting deposit limits in a casino app and taking a time-out.

Hearing, dexterity and one-handed play

Live dealer games combine video, a dealer's voice and on-screen bet buttons, so they can be demanding. RNG versions of the same games, and slots, rely less on audio.

When a casino app isn't accessible: getting help

If you can't complete something, such as uploading verification documents or finding the limits page, contact the operator's support and explain what you need. Each partner's support page lists its channels: see Coral customer support, Ladbrokes customer support and PlayOJO customer support.

Keep a note of dates and what was said. If the issue isn't resolved, the operator's complaints process comes next, followed by an approved ADR provider; our complaints guide explains the steps.

Accessibility checklist before choosing a casino app

  1. Read the App Store or Google Play listing for login options, haptics and any other features you rely on.
  2. Check the app's minimum iOS version and size against your device; older phones may not be supported.
  3. After signing up, try the lobby, cashier, account settings and one game with your usual accessibility settings on.
  4. Open a game's rules screen and check you can read and follow it.
  5. Set a deposit limit and reality check straight away, before any real-money play.
  6. Ask support any questions in writing so you have a record of the answer.

Our checklist before you sign up covers licensing, payments and offers alongside these points.

Frequently asked questions

Do casino apps have accessibility settings?

Few casino apps describe a dedicated accessibility menu in their store listings, so most accessibility comes from your phone's own settings, such as larger text, zoom and screen readers. Some apps add features that reduce effort; Casumo's iOS listing, for example, mentions Face ID and Touch ID login and a haptic feedback toggle. Check the listing and try the app with your settings on. See casino apps on iPhone for device basics.

Does larger text work inside casino games?

Often not fully. Larger system text usually changes menus, the cashier and help pages, but many slots and live games draw their own graphics, so text on the reels or table may stay the same size. Zoom or magnification enlarges anything on screen, so it can fill the gap. Turning to landscape can also make game elements bigger; our landscape vs portrait guide explains when.

Which casino apps support Face ID login?

Among the partner apps, Casumo's iOS listing is the only one that mentions Face ID and Touch ID login. The Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and 10bet listings don't mention it, which doesn't prove they lack it; check the login screen or ask support. Apple says Face ID data stays on your device and apps only learn whether the check succeeded. Our Face ID login list has more.

Do UK rules require casino apps to be accessible?

The Gambling Commission's technical standards aren't written as accessibility rules, but some help. RTS 3A says game rules must be easily available before play and understandable, and on small displays at least reachable through a menu or link. RTS 13 requires elapsed-time displays and reality checks you can set. Other duties may apply under wider law. Our UK rules hub summarises the main standards.

Can I turn off vibration in a casino app?

Yes, through your phone's settings in most cases, and sometimes inside the app. Both iOS and Android let you reduce or turn off vibration and haptic feedback system-wide. Among the partner listings, Casumo's mentions a haptic feedback toggle inside the app. Other listings don't say either way, so look in the app's settings. Our guide to Casumo's app settings covers its options.

How can I keep track of time while playing on a phone?

Set a reality check, which shows how long your session has lasted and must be acknowledged before you carry on. UK rules let you choose how often it appears, and casino games must show elapsed time throughout a session. If a full-screen game hides your phone's clock, it should show the time instead where practicable. Our reality checks guide shows where to set it.

What should I do if I can't complete verification because of a disability?

Contact the operator's support, explain the difficulty and ask what alternatives they accept. PlayOJO, for example, says documents go through its upload tool rather than email, so ask how to get help with uploading. Keep a written record of the conversation. If the problem isn't resolved, use the complaints process. Our guide to what documents casino apps ask for lists the usual options.
