Withdrawal: meaning in casino apps
A withdrawal is a request to move money from your casino account balance back to your own bank account or payment method. In UK apps it passes through the operator's review and then the payment provider, so the total time depends on both. You can't cancel it once made, and the operator can't cap what you take from your deposit balance.
Key takeaways
- A withdrawal has three stages: your request, the operator's review and the payment itself.
- Money usually goes back to the method you deposited with.
- UK rules ban reversing a withdrawal and capping withdrawals from your deposit balance.
- Fees must be disclosed and can't exceed the operator's direct cost.
- Coral and Ladbrokes publish no withdrawal fees; Casumo charges £3 below £10.
- Stages
- Request, operator review, payment
- Cancel after requesting
- Not allowed (RTS 14B, since 31 October 2021)
- Limits on deposit balance
- No maximum withdrawal caps allowed
- Fees
- Must not exceed direct processing cost
- Destination
- Usually the deposit method (closed loop)
What a withdrawal is
When you withdraw, you're asking the casino to pay part or all of your cash balance out to you. It's the reverse of a deposit, but slower, because the operator checks the request before releasing the money.
Bonus funds that still need wagering can't be withdrawn until any playthrough is met; your deposit balance can be withdrawn at any time. Other money terms are in our casino app glossary.
How a casino app withdrawal works, stage by stage
- Request. You choose an amount and a method in the app's cashier. Your account must already be verified.
- Operator review. The casino checks the request. This is the pending period, and its length varies by operator.
- Payment. Once approved, the money is sent. The method then decides how fast it arrives: card payouts and e-wallets can be quick, bank transfers can take days.
- Arrival. Check your bank or wallet, and the app's transaction history if it hasn't arrived in the published time.
Our step-by-step guide on how to withdraw from a casino app covers the cashier screens in more detail.
Withdrawal times and fees at our partner apps

| Coral and Ladbrokes | Review first, then instantly to 5 banking days by method; Visa Fast Funds approval typically a couple of hours, then up to 4 hours to the bank; Fast Bank Transfer 2–4 business days | None | £5 for Fast Bank Transfer and Google Pay |
| PlayOJO | Most payments processed within a few hours | Not published; check the cashier | No minimum: withdraw as little as you want |
| Casumo | Approved or denied within 3 days; then instant for PayPal, Apple Pay, Skrill, Neteller and MuchBetter, up to 2 days for cards, up to 5 days for bank | £3 below £10; none at £10+ | Not published |
| 10bet | Up to 2 business days for debit cards and e-wallets; up to 3 for bank transfer | Not published | Not published |
Coral's withdrawal timeframes page (opens in a new tab) notes that method times are on top of internal processing. No UK rule sets a maximum processing time, so these are operators' own figures. Our list of fast withdrawal casino apps compares them.
Your withdrawal rights under UK rules
The Gambling Commission's page for players who can't withdraw their winnings (opens in a new tab) and its operator guidance set out these points:
- You can withdraw at any time without unreasonable delay or restriction, and don't have to take money in instalments.
- No term may cap withdrawals from your deposit balance. The Commission's guidance on maximum withdrawal limits (opens in a new tab) gives "up to £50 per day and up to £500 per week" as a prohibited example.
- Fees must be disclosed before you deposit and can't exceed the direct cost; withdrawing your full deposit balance can't be charged.
- You can't be offered the option to cancel a withdrawal and gamble the money instead. See reverse withdrawals.
- A withdrawal request mustn't trigger ID requests that could reasonably have been made earlier, unless the law requires them at that point.
- Money can't be confiscated because you didn't log in or verify within a time limit.
Where your withdrawal goes
Most UK operators follow a closed-loop policy: money goes back to the method you paid in with, where possible. According to Coral and Ladbrokes, PayPal withdrawals need a PayPal deposit in the last 6 months, paysafecard withdrawals need an earlier paysafecard deposit, and Google Pay withdrawals are paid to the underlying card. PlayOJO says withdrawals go back to the deposit method where possible.
If you've used several methods, check the operator's help pages for how it decides where money goes. Our guide to the fastest casino app withdrawal methods explains how method choice affects speed, and withdrawal fees covers charges.
If a withdrawal goes wrong
Start with the operator's support team and its complaints procedure. The operator has 8 weeks to resolve a complaint; after that, it must offer to refer you to an independent ADR provider, which is free. Our guide on how to complain about a casino app sets out each step, and withdrawal pending covers delays.
A withdrawal is a good moment to pause. If you find you're tempted to gamble money you've already asked for, tools such as deposit limits and time-outs can help.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a casino app withdrawal take?
It depends on the operator's review time and the payment method. Both Entain brands, Coral and Ladbrokes, say payouts take from instantly to five banking days after approval, with Visa Fast Funds typically reaching the bank within hours. Casumo says e-wallet payouts are instant once approved, and bank transfers take up to five days. Our answer to how long casino app withdrawals take compares more methods.
Can I cancel a withdrawal in a casino app?
No. Since 31 October 2021, UK operators haven't been allowed to give you the option to cancel a withdrawal request, and they shouldn't offer to let you deposit those funds again. The rule stops money you've decided to take out being gambled back. Our answer on cancelling a withdrawal in a casino app explains the reasoning.
Is there a fee to withdraw from a casino app?
Sometimes. Coral and Ladbrokes both say they don't charge withdrawal fees. Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals below £10. Under Commission guidance, any fee must be disclosed before you deposit, can't exceed the direct cost, and can't apply to withdrawing your full deposit balance. Our answer to is there a fee to withdraw has more examples.
Can a casino limit how much I withdraw?
Not from your deposit balance. The Commission says no term may cap how much you withdraw from it, and gives a daily and weekly cap as a prohibited example. Limits on the size or number of withdrawals must be reasonable. Bonus winnings can carry their own caps, such as 10bet's £1,000 limit on bonus winnings. See our deposit match entry for how that works.
Why do I have to withdraw to the method I deposited with?
Most operators run a closed-loop policy, returning money to the original method where possible. It's a common safeguard against fraud and money laundering. Some methods have extra rules: Coral and Ladbrokes need a recent PayPal deposit before a PayPal withdrawal. Our guide to how long casino app withdrawals take explains how method choice shapes timing.
Can a casino ask for ID when I withdraw?
Only in limited cases. Commission guidance says a withdrawal request mustn't trigger requests for information that could reasonably have been asked for earlier, unless another legal duty requires it at that point. Age and identity should be checked before you gamble. Our KYC entry explains what operators check and when, including source-of-funds questions.
