How Google Play vets real-money casino apps in the UK

Google Play's Real-Money Gambling, Games, and Contests policy (opens in a new tab) sets the bar. A developer must complete Google's application process and hold a valid gambling licence for each country where the app is offered. Google's country allowances page (opens in a new tab) lists the United Kingdom for online casino games.

• The app must block under-18s and anyone outside the licensed area.
• It must be free to download and can't use Google Play's in-app billing.
• Google's application form asks for an Adults Only rating, a responsible gambling statement, an 18+ notice and no install incentives in the store listing.

How to find the genuine Betfair app on Google Play

Because the listing details weren't confirmed, these checks matter more than usual. They work for any casino app and take a minute.

1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone and search for Betfair.
2. Look at the developer name under the app title and make sure it's a Betfair or Flutter company rather than an unknown individual.
3. Scroll to the 'About this app' text and check that it mentions UK licensing and 18+ play.
4. Check the content rating; licensed UK casino apps such as Coral's and Ladbrokes' show PEGI 18.
5. Read the data safety section to see what the app collects and shares.

Betfair APK downloads: what to know before sideloading

The company behind the Betfair Android app

Betfair is a flagship brand of Flutter Entertainment, the name Paddy Power Betfair adopted on 28 May 2019. On the Gambling Commission register, both PPB Entertainment Limited (account 39426) and PPB Games Limited (account 39411) list the betfair.com domain as active; which holds the casino activity wasn't confirmed. In December 2025, four licensees trading as Betfair and Paddy Power, PPB Entertainment among them, agreed a £2,000,000 payment in lieu of a financial penalty after the Commission found failures in remote customer interaction (SR Code 3.4.3) during an April–May 2024 assessment. Trade press also reported a £2.2m penalty for Paddy Power Betfair in October 2018, linked to social responsibility failings and stolen money passing through the Betfair exchange.

Games, payments and support you'd reach through the app

Figures for the Betfair casino come from a third-party review rather than Betfair itself: 1,200+ casino games, 30+ jackpot slots including Jackpot King titles, and 80+ live games from studios including Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live.
