Key takeaways

  • Wins need clusters of 5 or more matching symbols on an 8×8 grid, with cascades after each win.
  • Jar wilds move after every win and gain +1 to their multiplier; in free spins those multipliers never reset.
  • Gold vinyls fill a DJ meter, and its top level can trigger Giga Jar with a large sticky instant-prize symbol.
  • High volatility and a 50,000× ceiling: most of the value is in rare events, so keep stakes modest.

Jammin’ Jars 2 slot explained

Jammin’ Jars 2 follows Push Gaming’s original Jammin’ Jars, one of the studio’s best-known games. It keeps the 8×8 grid and the jam jar wilds, then adds a collection meter and a new top-level feature called Giga Jar.

How cluster pays work on the Jammin’ Jars 2 grid

There are no paylines. Instead, the game pays for a group of five or more matching symbols touching each other on the grid, which is what cluster pays means. An 8×8 grid has 64 positions, so clusters can form in many shapes and directions.

After a win, the winning symbols are removed and new ones fall in from above. That cascade can form a fresh cluster, which removes more symbols, and so on until no new win appears. One paid spin can therefore include several separate wins.

How the features work

The jam jars are the heart of the game. Everything else, from free spins to Giga Jar, builds on what they do.

Moving jar wilds

Jam jar symbols are wilds. After each win they move to a new position and gain +1 to their multiplier. A jar that keeps finding itself in winning clusters during a cascade therefore carries a rising multiplier from one win to the next.

A cascade with a jar, in order

  1. A paid spin lands, including a jam jar wild.
  2. The jar helps complete a cluster of 5+ matching symbols, and the win is paid.
  3. Winning symbols are removed and new symbols drop in.
  4. The jar moves to a new spot and its multiplier goes up by one.
  5. If another cluster forms, the jar’s higher multiplier can apply; if not, the spin ends.

Free spins

Three or more jar wilds trigger free spins. During the round the jars keep moving, and their multipliers do not reset, so a jar can carry its value across spins rather than starting again each time.

DJ meter and Giga Jar

Gold vinyl symbols you collect fill a DJ meter. When the meter reaches its top level, the Giga Jar feature can trigger. It adds wilds and a large sticky instant-prize symbol for a set number of Giga Spins.

Jammin’ Jars 2 RTP: 96.1% rising to 96.6%

The default version’s RTP is listed as 96.1% rising to 96.6%. Rather than a single number, it is given as a range, so read the game’s rules screen in your app to see how the figure applies to your play and whether the casino runs the default version at all.

House edge at each end of the range
RTPHouse edgeExpected cost per £100 stakedExpected cost per 200 spins at 10p (£20 staked)
96.1%3.9%£3.9078p
96.6%3.4%£3.4068p

Either way, the house keeps a few pence of every pound over the long run. Apps do not carry lower RTP by default, but casinos can choose between versions the studio offers. Our guide to finding a game’s RTP in an app shows where to check.

What high volatility means for a Jammin’ Jars 2 session

High volatility means the game saves much of its return for rarer moments, such as jars with large multipliers or a Giga Jar round. In between, many spins return little. A £20 budget is 200 spins at 10p, 40 at 50p or 20 at £1 if nothing came back, and on a game like this, runs of 20 quiet spins are common.

The 50,000× ceiling shows how top-heavy the maths is. At 10p it equals £5,000; at the £2 cap for 18–24-year-olds, £100,000; at the £5 cap for those 25 and over, £250,000. Outcomes near those figures are extremely rare, and over time the house edge means you should expect to lose.

On published figures the original has the slightly higher RTP, while the sequel has a much higher ceiling and the extra DJ meter and Giga Jar layer. If you prefer fewer moving parts, the original is simpler; if you like collection features, the sequel offers more to follow.

Playing Jammin’ Jars 2 on your phone

Jammin’ Jars 2 is an HTML5 game, so it opens inside a casino app or mobile browser on iPhone and Android. Its orientation (portrait or landscape) is not published by the studio. A square 8×8 grid means 64 symbols at once, so each one is small on a compact phone; a larger screen or tablet makes jar multipliers easier to read.

  • Get casino apps only from the App Store or Google Play. Our iPhone guide and Android guide explain the checks.
  • Search each app’s lobby by name; we cannot confirm which casinos carry this game.
  • Keep an eye on battery and data if you play away from Wi-Fi. Our page on casino apps and battery life has general tips.
  • If the connection drops mid-cascade, the result is held by the casino’s server, not your phone.

UK rules that apply to Jammin’ Jars 2

In UK apps, Jammin’ Jars 2 runs under the Gambling Commission’s responsible product design standard (opens in a new tab): at least 2.5 seconds between spins, no autoplay, no turbo or slam-stop, and no celebration of returns at or below your stake. Cascades within one spin still play out in full.

Stakes are capped at £5 per spin from age 25 and £2 for ages 18–24, as the Commission’s online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab) explains. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players (the Commission’s games warning for online operators (opens in a new tab) sets out why), so free spins and Giga Jar are reached only through normal play. More detail is on our game design rules page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Jammin’ Jars 2?

The default version of Jammin’ Jars 2 lists an RTP of 96.1% rising to 96.6%. That gives a house edge of between 3.4% and 3.9%, or roughly £3.40 to £3.90 for every £100 staked over the long run. Casinos can choose which version they offer, so check the rules screen in your app. Wondering whether mobile versions pay back less? Our answer to whether RTP is lower on casino apps covers that myth.

How do you trigger free spins in Jammin’ Jars 2?

Free spins trigger when three or more jam jar wilds land. During the round the jars keep moving after each win and their multipliers do not reset, so they can grow across several spins. You cannot buy the round in a UK app, following the Gambling Commission’s January 2020 warning on feature buy-ins. For more on how in-game rounds differ from casino bonus spins, see our guide to free spins in casino apps.

What is the Giga Jar feature?

Giga Jar is the feature at the top of the DJ meter. You fill the meter by collecting gold vinyl symbols, and at its top level Giga Jar can trigger. It adds wilds and a large sticky instant-prize symbol for a set number of Giga Spins. You reach it only through normal play, as feature buy-ins are not offered to British players. Our glossary entry on multipliers explains a related term used throughout the game.

What is the max win on Jammin’ Jars 2?

The maximum win is 50,000 times your stake. That would be £5,000 at 10p, £100,000 at the £2 limit for 18–24-year-olds and £250,000 at the £5 limit for players aged 25 and over. Results near that ceiling are extremely rare, and the house edge means losses are likely over time. The figure is most useful as a sign of how top-heavy the game is. Our volatility explainer puts it in context.

Is Jammin’ Jars 2 better than Jammin’ Jars?

Neither is better outright; they balance things differently. The original lists a higher RTP of 96.83% and a 20,000× ceiling. The sequel lists 96.1% rising to 96.6% on its default version, a 50,000× ceiling and an extra DJ meter and Giga Jar layer. Both are high volatility on an 8×8 cluster grid. Choose the original for simplicity or the sequel for more features. Read our Jammin’ Jars review for the full comparison.

How does cluster pays work in Jammin’ Jars 2?

Cluster pays means the game pays for a group of five or more matching symbols touching each other, rather than for symbols along a payline. On the 8×8 grid, winning clusters are removed and new symbols drop in, which can create more clusters in the same spin. Jam jar wilds can join clusters and gain multiplier value as they move. Our cluster pays glossary entry explains the format in more detail.

Can I play Jammin’ Jars 2 on my phone?

Yes, Jammin’ Jars 2 is an HTML5 slot that runs in casino apps and mobile browsers on iPhone, iPad and Android, if the casino stocks it. The 8×8 grid has 64 small symbols, so a bigger screen is easier to read. UK rules require age verification before you play, even in demo mode. Install apps only from official stores; our page on casino apps on iPad explains tablet options.

When was Jammin’ Jars 2 released?

Jammin’ Jars 2 was released on 2 June 2021. That was a few months before the UK’s slot design rules took effect on 31 October 2021, and British versions now follow those rules: no autoplay, no turbo and at least 2.5 seconds per spin. It also came before the 2025 stake limits of £5 and £2 per spin. Our UK game design rules page sets out the timeline.
