Le Bandit slot review

The Le Bandit slot is a medium-volatility cluster-pays game from Hacksaw Gaming with a 96.34% RTP and a 10,000x maximum win. Wins leave golden squares behind, and a Rainbow symbol turns those squares into cash coins that clovers multiply and Pots of Gold collect. This review untangles that chain step by step, prices a session in pounds and covers playing it on a phone.

Le Bandit slot: what kind of game it is

Le Bandit is a 6×5 cluster pays game: matching symbols need to touch in groups of five or more, rather than line up across reels. Its feature is a chain of linked steps, which looks busy at first but follows a clear logic once you see the order. It sits with Hacksaw’s other ‘Le’ games in our mobile slot reviews.

Medium volatility puts it between steady low-volatility titles and the swingy games many studios favour now. Expect a mix of small cluster wins and occasional larger results when coins build up.

Advantages

  • Medium volatility with a 10,000x ceiling
  • 96.34% RTP
  • Golden squares give ordinary wins a lasting purpose
  • Three free spins tiers, the top one with a Rainbow on every spin

Drawbacks

  • Several linked mechanics take time to learn
  • 30-position grid can feel crowded on a small phone
  • RTP is a little below some rivals at 96.5% and above
  • No partner welcome spins are tied to it

At 96.34% RTP, the house edge is 3.66%, so £3.66 of every £100 staked is kept on average over a very long run. Studios often supply several RTP versions, so check the help screen in your app for the one you are playing.

How the features work

Clusters that clear their whole symbol type

A cluster of five or more matching symbols pays. When it does, the winning symbols are removed along with other symbols of the same type elsewhere on the grid, and new symbols drop in. Clearing the whole type at once frees up more space for fresh symbols than a normal tumble.

Golden squares

Every position that was part of a win becomes a golden square. On its own a golden square pays nothing; it is a marker waiting for a Rainbow.

Rainbow, coins, clovers and Pots of Gold

When a Rainbow symbol lands, each golden square turns into a bronze, silver or gold coin carrying a cash value. Clovers multiply the coins near them, and Pots of Gold collect coin values. So a spin with many golden squares and a Rainbow can add up quickly, while golden squares with no Rainbow simply wait.

Three free spins tiers

Three, four or five camera scatters trigger one of three tiers of free spins, with more scatters giving the stronger tier. In free spins, golden squares stay on the grid for longer, giving a Rainbow more to work with. With five scatters, a Rainbow lands on every spin of the round.

  1. Land a cluster of five or more matching symbols to win.
  2. The winners and other symbols of that type clear, and new ones drop in.
  3. Every winning position becomes a golden square.
  4. A Rainbow turns golden squares into bronze, silver or gold coins with cash values.
  5. Clovers multiply nearby coins; Pots of Gold collect them.
  6. Three, four or five camera scatters start a free spins tier where golden squares last longer.

There is no bonus buy for British players. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players.

Le Bandit costs in pounds at 10p, 50p and £1

Average cost per spin is stake × 3.66%, from standard game maths. Here is a £20 budget at three stakes, plus what the 10,000x cap means in money.

£20 on Le Bandit (RTP 96.34%, max win 10,000x)
StakePaid spins from £20Average cost per spinAverage cost of 100 spinsMax win at that stake
10p2000.37p37p£1,000
50p401.83p£1.83£5,000
£1203.66p£3.66£10,000

Medium volatility means a £20 budget at 10p will often run well past 200 spins as small cluster wins are re-staked. At £1, the same £20 gives 20 paid spins, which may not be enough to see a Rainbow land on a well-stocked grid, let alone the free spins.

For an hour, use spins × stake × 3.66%. A session of 500 spins at 20p is £100 staked and an average cost of £3.66. Your actual result could be well above or below that; the average is the long-run price.

Playing the Le Bandit slot on mobile

Le Bandit runs in HTML5, so it opens inside a casino app or mobile browser with no extra download. With 30 positions, golden squares and coins all on screen, it helps to have a reasonably sized display. Whether it uses portrait or landscape depends on the operator’s version; our landscape and portrait guide covers rotation settings.

  1. Find Le Bandit in your app’s game lobby.
  2. Open the info screen and confirm the RTP version.
  3. Pick a stake within the £5 or £2 limit for your age.
  4. Tap to spin each round, watching for golden squares and Rainbows.
  5. Check the session clock and net position on screen.

For device set-up, see casino apps on iPhone and casino apps on Google Pixel. If the game loads slowly on mobile data, our casino app data usage guide explains why.

UK rules that apply to Le Bandit

Since 9 April 2025, adults aged 25 and over can stake up to £5 per spin on online slots, and since 21 May 2025 the limit for 18–24-year-olds is £2. The Commission’s online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab) explains how stakes are counted across a game cycle; we cover it on our slot stake limits page.

The Commission’s 2021 package of game design changes (opens in a new tab) removed autoplay, turbo and slam-stop from slots, set a 2.5-second minimum per spin and stopped games celebrating returns at or below the stake. A cluster win smaller than your stake will therefore play out without a fanfare. Our game design rules page has the full list.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Le Bandit?

Le Bandit has an RTP of 96.34%, which is a 3.66% house edge over a very large number of spins. On a medium-volatility game, sessions still vary, but less sharply than on high-volatility titles. Operators may run different versions, so read the figure on the game’s help screen. Our guide to finding a game’s RTP in an app shows where, and is RTP lower on casino apps explains why app and site versions match.

How do golden squares work in Le Bandit?

Golden squares are left behind on every position that formed part of a win. They pay nothing until a Rainbow symbol lands, at which point each golden square becomes a bronze, silver or gold coin with a cash value. Clovers then multiply nearby coins and Pots of Gold collect them. In free spins, golden squares stay on the grid for longer. Compare the similar idea in Le Pharaoh.

How do you trigger free spins on Le Bandit?

You trigger free spins by landing three, four or five camera scatters, which start one of three tiers of the feature. Higher tiers come from more scatters. In free spins, golden squares stay on the grid for longer, and with five scatters a Rainbow lands on every spin. There is no bonus buy for British players. Our guide to free spins in casino apps explains how game features differ from offer spins.

What is the max win on Le Bandit?

The maximum win on Le Bandit is 10,000 times your stake. That works out at £1,000 on a 10p spin, £10,000 on a £1 spin, and £50,000 at the £5 UK maximum for players aged 25 and over. Wins of that size are very rare. For comparison, Le Pharaoh caps at 15,000x and Le Viking at 10,000x. See our Le Viking review for its figures.

Is Le Bandit a cluster pays slot?

Yes, Le Bandit pays for clusters of five or more matching symbols on a 6×5 grid rather than for lines. When a cluster wins, the winning symbols and other symbols of the same type are cleared, and new symbols drop in. That makes it different from Le Pharaoh, which uses 19 paylines. The cluster pays glossary entry explains the system in general, and Jammin’ Jars is another cluster example.

Can I play Le Bandit on my phone?

Yes, Le Bandit is an HTML5 game that runs inside casino apps and mobile browsers on iPhone and Android. Its 6×5 grid, golden squares and coins make for a busy screen, so a larger phone or tablet is more comfortable. Search your app’s lobby to check it is available. If a game will not load, try the fixes in casino app not working.

Who makes Le Bandit?

Hacksaw Gaming makes Le Bandit. The studio launched in September 2018, is based in Malta and holds a Gambling Commission licence. Its parent, Hacksaw AB, listed on Nasdaq Stockholm on 25 June 2025. It produces slots, scratchcards and instant-win games, and its best-known slot is Wanted Dead or a Wild. Read more on our Hacksaw Gaming provider page and the full slot providers list.

What is the maximum stake on Le Bandit in the UK?

The maximum stake is £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 per spin for players aged 18 to 24. These limits apply to all online slots in Great Britain and are enforced through the stake selector. They do not apply to games such as roulette or blackjack. Our slot stake limits on mobile guide explains how stakes within a game cycle are counted.
