Blueprint Gaming slots on mobile

Blueprint Gaming slots on mobile include some of the most familiar names in UK casino apps: Fishin’ Frenzy, Eye of Horus, King Kong Cash and a long run of Megaways games. The Newark studio also runs the Jackpot King progressive network. Many titles exist in several RTP versions, so this guide shows what each version costs and how to check it.

Key takeaways

  • Blueprint Gaming was founded in 2001 in Newark and is owned by Germany’s Merkur Group, formerly the Gauselmann Group.
  • It was the first studio licensed to use Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic, announced on 1 May 2018.
  • Jackpot King links many Blueprint slots to shared progressive jackpots, triggered by five or six Jackpot King symbols.
  • Eye of Horus Megaways runs from 95.49% down to 90%, which doubles the expected cost per £100 at the lowest version.
  • Check the RTP on each game’s help screen, because the operator picks the version.

Blueprint Gaming: a British studio with fruit-machine roots

Blueprint Gaming was founded in 2001 and is based in Newark, in the English Midlands. Germany’s Gauselmann Group, now known as Merkur Group, took an equity stake in 2008 and full ownership in 2012. Gauselmann used Blueprint as its route into the UK’s reel-based amusement-with-prizes (AWP) machine market, the pub and arcade machines that pay cash prizes.

The group kept building in both worlds. In February 2019 Blueprint bought Project, a London studio behind games such as Mega Bars and Find the Lady Poker, for its online and land-based ranges. Blueprint is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and in Alderney.

Blueprint and Megaways: the first licence deal

Megaways is Big Time Gaming’s random reel modifier: each reel shows a different number of symbols on every spin, so the number of ways to win changes too. On 1 May 2018 CasinoBeats reported that Big Time Gaming had licensed Megaways to Blueprint (opens in a new tab), the first deal of its kind. Diamond Mine followed that month as Blueprint’s first Megaways game.

Blueprint then rebuilt several of its own hits in the format, including Fishin’ Frenzy, Eye of Horus and Ted. Ways counts vary: Eye of Horus Megaways and Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways reach 15,625 ways on six reels, while Ted Megaways and Buffalo Rising Megaways reach 117,649. Our Megaways glossary entry explains the mechanic, and Big Time Gaming’s page covers the studio that created it.

How Jackpot King works on Blueprint slots

Jackpot King is Blueprint’s progressive jackpot system. It links a wide range of Blueprint games to a shared pool, so spins on any linked game feed the same prizes. Genie Jackpots is one of the games on the network.

  1. On a base-game spin, five or six Jackpot King symbols land anywhere on the reels; no payline is needed.
  2. That starts the Jackpot King bonus, where you collect crowns.
  3. Collecting 15 or more crowns leads to the Wheel King.
  4. The wheel awards a win multiplier or one of three progressive jackpots.

In September 2018 Jackpot King Deluxe made the two smaller pots “must be won”: the Royal before it reaches £3,500 and the Regal before £35,000, as CasinoBeats reported at launch (opens in a new tab). The main Jackpot King pot was unchanged. In 2021 Blueprint also turned the system into a game in its own right with Jackpot King Prize Lines.

Part of each stake funds the jackpots, so the base game in a Jackpot King version can return less. King Kong Cash Even Bigger Bananas shows it clearly: 96% in the standard game and 94.99% in its Jackpot King version. Our list of apps with Jackpot King slots goes further.

Lower-RTP versions of Blueprint slots, in pounds

Blueprint offers operators several RTP settings on many titles. The game looks identical, so the only way to know which one you’re playing is the help screen. Eye of Horus Megaways has four published versions, which makes it a clear example.

Eye of Horus Megaways: expected cost by RTP version
RTP versionExpected loss per £100Expected loss per hour at 20p (1,440 spins)
95.49%£4.51£12.99
93%£7.00£20.16
92%£8.00£23.04
90%£10.00£28.80

The hour column assumes 1,440 spins, the most possible at the UK minimum of 2.5 seconds a spin, so £288 staked. On that basis the 90% version costs more than twice as much as the 95.49% one. Real sessions are slower and results swing widely, but the gap holds over time. Our guide to finding a game’s RTP in an app shows where the figure usually appears.

The Fishin’ Frenzy family compared

Fishin’ Frenzy is Blueprint’s best-known series, and each version reworks the same idea: a fisherman wild that collects cash values from fish during free spins.

  • Fishin’ Frenzy: 5x3 with 10 lines; three, four or five boat scatters give 10, 15 or 20 free spins. 96.12% RTP, medium volatility.
  • The Big Catch: each fisherman landing in free spins is collected, and every four collected upgrade the fish and add five spins. 95.32% RTP.
  • Even Bigger Catch: adds a gold fisherman pick that reveals a 2x to 10x multiplier on collected values. 95%, with a 93% version.
  • Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways: six reels and up to 15,625 ways, with the fisherman collecting values from blue fish. 96.10%, high volatility.

For a modest budget, the original has the highest RTP and medium volatility, while the Megaways version swings harder for a bigger 10,000x cap.

Branded and film-licensed Blueprint slots

Blueprint builds many games around film and TV licences. The Goonies (October 2018) uses a One-Eyed Willy bonus wheel that picks one of six features. Ted Megaways adds the Thunder Buddies bonus with a rising win multiplier. Rick and Morty Megaways offers four character modes in free spins, and Deal or No Deal Megaways links a bonus game to consecutive cascade wins as well as Jackpot King.

A brand doesn’t change the maths. Read the RTP and volatility of each one rather than picking on theme alone, because the range runs from 94% for House of the Dragon to 96.55% for Rick and Morty Megaways.

Playing Blueprint Gaming slots on your phone

Blueprint games load inside the casino app or mobile site you use; there is no separate Blueprint app to install. The app’s store listing sets the minimum iOS or Android version. Coral’s App Store listing, for example, mentions Megaways and classic fruit machines among its slots, but it doesn’t list studios, so check the lobby for specific Blueprint titles.

  • Megaways reels change height every spin, so a larger screen makes the ways counter and symbols easier to read.
  • Jackpot King symbols pay anywhere, so you don’t need to trace lines on a small display.
  • Wheel bonuses, such as King Kong Cash and The Goonies, involve several screens; let each one finish before you leave the game.
  • Set a deposit limit before you start; our deposit limits guide shows how.

UK rules for Blueprint Gaming slots in apps

Blueprint slots follow the same British rules as all online slots. The Gambling Commission’s stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab) caps a spin at £5 for players aged 25 and over (from 9 April 2025) and £2 for those aged 18 to 24 (from 21 May 2025). Apps check your age at sign-up and apply the right cap.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns Blueprint Gaming?

Blueprint Gaming is owned by Merkur Group, the German company formerly called the Gauselmann Group. Gauselmann took an equity stake in 2008 and full ownership in 2012, using Blueprint as its base in the UK fruit-machine market. The studio is still run from Newark and holds Gambling Commission accounts for Blueprint Gaming Limited and Blueprint Operations Limited. See our slot providers hub for other studio owners.

What is Jackpot King?

Jackpot King is Blueprint Gaming’s linked progressive jackpot network. Five or six Jackpot King symbols on a base-game spin start a bonus where you collect crowns, and 15 or more crowns lead to the Wheel King, which awards a multiplier or one of three jackpots. In Jackpot King Deluxe, launched in 2018, the two smaller pots must be won before reaching £3,500 and £35,000. Our Jackpot King glossary entry gives a short definition.

Do Jackpot King slots have a lower RTP?

Often, yes: part of each stake funds the jackpots, so the Jackpot King version of a game can return less in the base game. King Kong Cash Even Bigger Bananas is 96% as a standard game and 94.99% in its Jackpot King version, a difference of about £1 per £100 staked. The jackpot share goes to rare winners, not to most players. Read more in jackpot slots on mobile.

Can I play Blueprint Gaming slots on my phone?

Yes, Blueprint slots run on phones through UK casino apps and mobile sites that carry them. You don’t download them separately; you open them from the app’s slots lobby after passing age and identity checks. Look for titles such as Fishin’ Frenzy or Eye of Horus, then check the help screen for the RTP version. Our best slot apps UK list compares partner lobbies.

Which Blueprint slot has the highest RTP?

Primal Megaways has the highest RTP of the Blueprint slots we cover, at 96.76%, followed by Rick and Morty Megaways at 96.55% and Buffalo Rising Megaways at 96.5%. All three are Megaways games, and Primal is rated high volatility with a 50,000x cap. Remember that operators may run lower versions, so confirm the figure in the game. Our Primal Megaways review covers its multiplying wilds.

Was Blueprint the first to make Megaways slots?

No, Big Time Gaming created Megaways, but Blueprint was the first studio licensed to use it. The licence was announced on 1 May 2018, and Diamond Mine Megaways followed that month. Since then Blueprint has released Megaways versions of Fishin’ Frenzy, Eye of Horus, Ted and others. Our Megaways slot apps page and Diamond Mine Megaways review cover the format.

Is Fishin’ Frenzy a Blueprint Gaming slot?

Yes, Fishin’ Frenzy is one of Blueprint Gaming’s best-known slots. The original is a 5x3, 10-line game with a 96.12% RTP and medium volatility, where fisherman wilds collect fish cash values during free spins. Blueprint has built several follow-ups, including The Big Catch, Even Bigger Catch and Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways. Our Fishin’ Frenzy review explains the free spins in full.

Can I buy the bonus on Blueprint slots in the UK?

No. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players, so Blueprint bonuses such as the Fishin’ Frenzy free spins or the Jackpot King bonus are reached only by landing the right symbols. Some games keep random base-game features, such as King Kong Cash’s Banana Cannon Wilds. Our game design rules page explains what else changed.
