Football Studio on mobile: the card game and the dice game

Evolution makes two related games under the Football Studio name. Both set two sides against each other, HOME and AWAY, and ask you to back the one you think will score higher, or to bet on a draw.

The original Football Studio uses playing cards. Football Studio Dice, in Evolution's words, "replaces cards with four beautiful dice". Evolution's dice page says there are similarities between the two, but it doesn't set out the card game's own rules or payouts, so for that version rely on the help screen inside the app.

Both are short, single-decision games. You place your bet, watch the result and move on, which is a different feel from wheel shows like Crazy Time. Our live casino apps guide lists the other live formats.

How Football Studio Dice works

Evolution's Football Studio Dice page (opens in a new tab) describes four dice shaken automatically in four separate shakers, two for HOME and two for AWAY. Each side's score is the total of its two dice, and the higher total wins.

The shake happens in stages. During betting time all four dice start shaking at once; the upper HOME and AWAY dice stop first, and the lower pair stop a few seconds later. That staggered finish builds tension, and it also means part of the result is visible before the rest.

First Half and Second Half: a round step by step

Football Studio Dice splits each round into two halves, a First Half shake and a Second Half shake. Evolution notes that a side losing the First Half can still win in the Second Half, so the game isn't over at half-time. How the two halves combine to settle every bet is set out in the in-game rules.

1. Open Football Studio Dice from the live casino section of a UK-licensed app.
2. Check the table limits and the payout list for HOME, AWAY and DRAW in the help screen.
3. Place your bet on HOME, AWAY or DRAW while the betting timer runs and the dice are shaking.
4. Watch the First Half: the upper dice stop first, then the lower pair.
5. Watch the Second Half shake, which can change which side is in front.

Home, Away and Draw bets in Football Studio

The HOME and AWAY bets are the core of the game, and they mirror each other. Evolution's product page doesn't publish the standard HOME and AWAY payout rate, so read it from the game's payout table before you play.

The DRAW is the long shot. Evolution says it has several payouts depending on which result ties, one of them being 80x. Evolution doesn't publish the full list on its product page, so check the in-game table for each tied result. On a £1 bet, 80x would return £80; on a 20p bet, £16.

Side bets aren't described on Evolution's product page. If your app shows extra bet spots, read their rules and returns before using them, because side bets on live games often carry a higher house edge than the main bet.

The dice maths behind Football Studio Dice

Two fair six-sided dice can land 36 ways. The totals aren't equally likely: 7 can come up six ways, while 2 and 12 can only come up one way each. This is standard dice arithmetic, and it explains why ties on high or low totals are rare.

For a single shake of two pairs, the chance both sides land the same total is the sum of each total's chance squared: (1 + 4 + 9 + 16 + 25 + 36 + 25 + 16 + 9 + 4 + 1) ÷ 1,296 = 146 ÷ 1,296, about 11.3%. Two pairs of sixes together is 1 in 1,296.

These figures describe how two pairs of dice behave in one shake. Football Studio Dice settles over two halves, so its actual payouts and house edge come from Evolution's full rules, which are in the game's help screen.

Football Studio RTP and what a session costs

Evolution's Football Studio Dice page doesn't state an RTP or a maximum win, and we couldn't confirm figures for the card version either. The RTP for each bet appears in the game's help screen; our guide on finding a game's RTP in an app shows where.

Once you have the figure, the cost of a session is simple: expected loss = total staked × house edge. The table shows that sum for a session of 80 rounds using two illustrative house edges, so you can see how much the bet choice matters. Replace them with the real figures from the game.

Short games like this are easy to repeat quickly, so the total staked climbs faster than it feels. Losses are the likely outcome over time, and no pattern in previous halves predicts the next shake.

Watching the dice on a phone screen

Evolution says its live games are streamed in real time from studios built like TV sets, and that players join by phone or computer to bet and chat. On a phone, the main challenge with Football Studio Dice is seeing four dice clearly at once, especially as two pairs stop at different moments.
