Casumo app verification is the age and identity check you must pass before you can deposit or play, because UK rules don't allow gambling until it's done. Most checks run automatically against databases when you register; if they can't confirm you, the app asks for documents. Here's what to expect, how long it takes and your rights.
Key takeaways
- UK rules require Casumo to verify your age and identity before you deposit, play or even try a demo game.
- Checks start with your name, address and date of birth, matched against databases; documents are only needed if that fails.
- Casumo doesn't publish a fixed verification time, so complete any request promptly and well before you want to withdraw.
- A financial vulnerability check runs in the background once net deposits pass £150 in 30 days.
- Casumo can't keep your balance because you didn't verify within a time limit.

Why the Casumo app verifies your identity
Every app run by a Gambling Commission licensee has to confirm who you are before you gamble. For Casumo, that licensee is Recro Limited, account 61549. Since 7 May 2019, online operators must verify your age and identity before you can deposit or gamble, including with a bonus, and before you can open the free-to-play version of any game. Before that date they had 72 hours to finish age checks, which left a window in which someone could play before the checks were finished.
The aim is to keep children out, stop fraud and money laundering, and make sure self-excluded people can't open new accounts. The Gambling Commission's guide to age and ID verification (opens in a new tab) explains it from the player's side. The rule itself is covered on identity checks before you play.
| Rule | What it means in the app |
|---|---|
| Verify before gambling | No deposits, bets or bonus play until your identity is confirmed |
| Free-to-play games | Demo versions also need age verification |
| Minimum details | Your name, address and date of birth |
| ID at withdrawal | Can't be added as a condition if it could have been asked earlier |
| No confiscation | Your balance can't be kept because you didn't verify within a time limit |
How the Casumo app verification check works
Verification usually happens in two layers. First, the details you type at sign-up are checked electronically against sources such as credit reference agencies and the electoral roll. If everything matches, you may never be asked for a document. If the database check can't confirm you, the app asks you to upload proof.
A database check for identity isn't a credit application, and it isn't the same as an affordability check. Casumo's process isn't described step by step in its published pages, so the exact screens may differ, but the order above is the standard one the Commission describes. For a wider explainer, see how casino apps verify your identity and our glossary entry for KYC.
Documents the Casumo app may ask for
Casumo doesn't publish a list of accepted documents in the pages we could read, so the app's request is the final word. These are the document types UK operators typically ask for, and what each one proves.
| Document type | What it proves | Phone tip |
|---|---|---|
| Passport or photo driving licence | Identity and age | Photograph all four corners, no glare |
| Recent utility bill or bank statement | Address | Use a document dated within the last few months |
| Bank or e-wallet statement | Ownership of a payment method | A screenshot from your banking app may be accepted |
| Payslips, savings or sale documents | Source of funds, for larger deposits | Only send what's requested |
Only upload documents through the Casumo app or website, or send them to the official support address, hey@casumo.com. Never send ID in reply to a message that arrives out of the blue, even if it uses Casumo's name.
How to upload ID in the Casumo app
The exact screens aren't published, so look for the verification or documents option in your account settings when the app asks. The general steps are the same on iPhone and Android.
- Open the message or notification in the app that asks for verification, or find the documents option in your account area.
- Check which document is requested and whether it needs the front, back or both sides.
- Lay the document flat in good light, with no flash glare.
- Take the photo with your phone camera, or choose a clear existing image or PDF.
- Check that all four corners, the text and the photo are readable before you submit.
- Wait for confirmation in the app, and look out for an email if more is needed.
If an upload keeps failing, our guide to a casino app verification failed covers file size, format and lighting problems.
How long Casumo app verification takes
Casumo doesn't publish a set time for ID checks. An automatic database check can clear in moments at sign-up, while a document review depends on how busy the team is and whether the image is clear. Support runs from 7:00 to 23:00 UK time, so an upload sent late at night may wait until the morning.
| Stage | What's checked | Published timing |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-up | Age and identity from your details | Before you can deposit; no fixed time published |
| Document request | Photo ID or proof of address, if needed | Not published |
| After £150 net deposits in 30 days | Financial vulnerability check on public records | Runs in the background |
| Withdrawal | Approval of the request | Within 3 days (withdrawal policy) |
| Larger deposits | Possible source of funds request | Not published |
The practical lesson is to finish verification before you need it. Doing it at sign-up means a withdrawal later only waits for the normal approval. More on typical waits: how long does casino app verification take.
Financial checks after you're verified
Passing ID checks isn't the last check you'll meet. Since 28 February 2025, operators must run a financial vulnerability check when your deposits minus withdrawals pass £150 in a rolling 30 days. It looks at public records such as bankruptcies, county court judgments, individual voluntary arrangements and debt relief orders, and you won't normally be asked for anything. The Commission's rule on financial vulnerability checks (opens in a new tab) sets out the detail.
Fuller financial risk assessments using credit-reference data were piloted but aren't live, and the Commission itself says calling them affordability checks is inaccurate. Separately, if you deposit large sums, Casumo may ask where the money came from; that's a source of funds check. The financial risk checks rules page explains the difference.
Your rights during Casumo verification
The Commission's rules protect you if verification drags on. An operator must tell you before you deposit what ID it might need and when. It can't take your money because you didn't log in or verify within a deadline, and it can't make ID a condition of withdrawing if it could have asked for it earlier, unless the law requires a check at that point. The Commission's identity verification guidance for operators (opens in a new tab) spells this out.
If you think a check is being used to delay a payout unfairly, raise a complaint with Casumo, then take it to an independent ADR service if it isn't settled within 8 weeks. See Casumo app withdrawals for the payout side and how to complain about a casino app for the steps.
Casumo verification failed? Common fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Asked for documents straight away | Database check couldn't match your details | Check spelling, address format and date of birth |
| Upload rejected | Blurry, cropped or glare on the image | Retake in daylight with all corners visible |
| Address not accepted | Document too old or not in your name | Use a recent statement addressed to you |
| Card not accepted for payouts | Name on card doesn't match the account | Use a payment method in your own name |
| Account blocked at sign-up | Possible GAMSTOP self-exclusion or under-age details | Contact support; GAMSTOP exclusions can't be lifted early |

What happens to your ID data in the Casumo app
Handing over ID is a reasonable thing to think twice about. Apple's privacy label for the Casumo iPhone app lists financial information, contact information, user content and identifiers among the data linked to you. On Android, the Google Play data safety section (opens in a new tab) says data is encrypted in transit and that you can ask for it to be deleted.
Face ID and Touch ID, which the iOS listing says the app supports for login, are separate from document checks: Apple says biometric data stays on your device and apps only learn whether the match succeeded. For more, see the Casumo app safe and legit page and our guide on how to read a casino app privacy label. Our Casumo app review covers the rest of the app.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to verify my ID to use the Casumo app?
Yes. UK rules require Casumo to verify your age and identity before you can deposit, place a bet, use a bonus or even play a free demo game. For most people this happens automatically from the name, address and date of birth entered at sign-up. If that check can't confirm you, the app asks for documents. The guide to casino app age verification explains why the rules are this strict, and Casumo app sign up shows where it fits.
What documents does Casumo need for verification?
Casumo doesn't publish a fixed list, so follow the request in the app. Operators commonly ask for a passport or photo driving licence for identity, a recent bank statement or utility bill for your address, and sometimes proof that a payment method is yours. Larger deposits can lead to a source of funds request. Upload only through the app, the website or hey@casumo.com. Our guide to how casino apps verify your identity covers each document type.
How long does Casumo verification take?
There's no published time. An automatic database check at sign-up can clear almost straight away, while a document review depends on demand and image quality. Support hours are 7:00 to 23:00 UK time, so late uploads may wait until morning. Withdrawals have a separate approval window of up to 3 days under Casumo's policy. See how long does casino app verification take for typical waits across the market.
Can I withdraw from Casumo without verifying?
In practice, no. You can't deposit or play until you're verified, so a fully verified account is the normal starting point for a withdrawal. Casumo can't later add an ID demand as a condition of withdrawing if it could have asked earlier, and it can't keep your balance just because you missed a verification deadline. Extra checks, such as source of funds, can still apply. The Casumo app withdrawals page explains the payout process.
Why did my Casumo verification fail?
The usual reasons are a typo in your name or address, a date of birth that doesn't match records, a blurry or cropped photo, or a proof of address that's too old or not in your name. Check your details, retake photos in good light with all corners visible, and use a recent document addressed to you. If it still fails, email hey@casumo.com. The guide to a casino app verification failed has more fixes.
Does Casumo do a credit check?
Casumo may use credit reference agency data to confirm your identity, but that's an identity match, not a credit application. Separately, a financial vulnerability check on public records such as bankruptcies and county court judgments runs once net deposits pass £150 in a rolling 30 days. Credit-reference financial risk assessments were piloted but aren't live. The financial risk check glossary entry and financial risk checks page explain the difference.
Is it safe to upload my passport to the Casumo app?
Uploading through the official app is the safest route, because the app is published by Casumo Services Limited and run under a Gambling Commission licence held by Recro Limited. Google Play's data safety section says data is encrypted in transit and you can request deletion. Never send ID in reply to an unexpected message or to any address other than hey@casumo.com. Read more on the Casumo app safe and legit page.
Why does Casumo need proof of address?
Proof of address is only requested when the automatic check can't confirm where you live. UK rules require operators to verify at least your name, address and date of birth, partly to stop fraud and partly so that self-exclusion schemes such as GAMSTOP can match your details. A recent bank statement or utility bill in your name usually works. Our page on identity checks before you play explains what the rule requires.
