Why can't I find a casino app in the App Store?
Why can't I find a casino app in the App Store? The usual causes are an Apple ID set to another country, Screen Time restrictions on 18+ apps, an iOS version that's too old, or a brand that simply has no Apple-approved app for the UK. Apple only lists real-money casino apps that are licensed and geo-restricted to where they're used.
Key takeaways
- Apple requires real-money casino apps to be licensed where they're used, geo-restricted and free on the App Store.
- Screen Time content limits or a block on installing apps can stop 18+ casino apps appearing or installing.
- Your Apple ID's country decides which storefront you see; UK apps sit on the UK storefront.
- Coral and Ladbrokes need iOS 18.0 or later; PlayOJO and Casumo need iOS 15.0; 10bet needs iOS 16.0.
- Apple rule
- Guideline 5.3.4: licensed, geo-restricted, free
- Age rating
- 18+ for real-money gambling apps
- Coral and Ladbrokes
- iOS 18.0 or later
- PlayOJO and Casumo
- iOS 15.0 or later
- 10bet
- iOS 16.0 or later
Why you can't find a casino app in the App Store
When a casino app won't show up on an iPhone, it's usually one of four things: the storefront you're looking at, a restriction on your device, your iOS version, or the brand itself. Working through them in that order solves most cases in a few minutes.
Apple doesn't hide casino apps from UK adults as a rule. Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet all have apps on the UK App Store. If you can't see one of those, the cause is almost certainly on your side, and fixable.
Apple's App Store rules for real-money casino apps
Apple's App Review Guidelines (opens in a new tab) put gambling among the most regulated categories on the store and warn developers to expect extra review time. The key rules are below.
| Guideline | What Apple says | Why an app might be missing |
|---|---|---|
| 5.3.4 | Real-money gaming apps must have the necessary licences where used, be geo-restricted to those places and be free on the App Store | No UK licence means no UK listing |
| 5.1.1(ix) | Apps in highly regulated fields such as gambling should be submitted by the legal entity providing the service, not an individual developer | Unofficial or reseller apps get turned away |
| 5.3.3 | In-app purchase can't be used to buy credit or currency for real-money gaming | Apps built around Apple payments for chips won't pass |
| 5.3 | Gambling apps should be prepared for extra time during review | A new app or update may be delayed |
So a missing app can simply mean the brand hasn't got, or hasn't kept, an approved UK version. Our deeper guide to Apple App Store rules for casino apps looks at each clause, and the app store rules page sets them beside UK law.
Is your Apple ID on the UK App Store?
The App Store is split into country storefronts, and the one you see follows your Apple ID's country or region. UK casino apps are published for the UK storefront because they must be geo-restricted to where the operator is licensed.
A good example of how storefronts differ: the same PlayOJO app shows as 'PlayOJO Real Money Casino' in the UK, while the Canadian storefront lists it under an Ontario name. If your Apple ID was set up abroad, searches for a UK brand may come up empty or show a different product.
Being abroad causes a related problem. Even with the app installed, real-money play is location-limited. Our guides on using a casino app abroad and why an app says you're in the wrong location explain this.
Screen Time and content restrictions on iPhone
Apple rates real-money gambling apps 18+. Its age ratings reference (opens in a new tab) defines 'Gambling' as betting or wagering with real money or currency that can be exchanged for real money.
If Screen Time content limits are switched on, apps above the allowed rating can be blocked. Apple's parental controls guide (opens in a new tab) shows that restrictions can be set to a specific age rating, and that installing apps can be set to Blocked under the App Store options.
On a family-managed iPhone that's working as intended. On your own adult phone, check whether old restrictions are still active. Equally, if you set them deliberately to cut back, leave them in place: see blocking casino apps with Screen Time.
Which iOS version do UK casino apps need?
Each App Store listing states a minimum iOS version. If your iPhone runs something older, you won't be able to install the current app. This table shows what our partner apps require, according to their UK listings.
| Casino | App name on the UK store | Requires | Size | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coral | Coral Casino: Slots & Games | iOS 18.0 or later | 101.6 MB | Casino |
| Ladbrokes | Ladbrokes Casino Games & Slots | iOS 18.0 or later | 101.2 MB | Casino |
| PlayOJO | PlayOJO Real Money Casino | iOS 15.0 or later | 25.4 MB | Casino |
| Casumo | Casumo Casino & Sports Betting | iOS 15.0 or later | 52.5 MB | Casino |
| 10bet | 10bet: Sports Betting & Casino | iOS 16.0 or later | 112.3 MB | Sports |
Note the last column. 10bet's combined app is filed under Sports, so browsing the Casino category won't find it; search by name instead. Our page on which iOS version casino apps need covers older devices in more detail.
How to find a casino app on your iPhone, step by step
- Open the App Store and search the exact app name from the table, not just the brand.
- If nothing appears, check in your Apple account settings that your Apple ID's country or region is the United Kingdom.
- Check Screen Time for content limits on app age ratings and for a block on installing apps.
- Go to Settings, then General, then About, and compare your iOS version with the listing's requirement.
- If the brand still isn't there, look up its licence holder on the Gambling Commission register and use its mobile website instead.
When the brand has no iPhone app at all
Some licensed UK casinos choose not to run an iOS app and offer a mobile website instead. You lose little by using it: the same account, cashier and safer-gambling tools are there. Our guide to adding a casino web app to your home screen shows how to get an app-like icon.
What you shouldn't do is chase an unofficial download. Apple's rules mean a legitimate UK real-money app comes from the operator's own legal entity, so anything else claiming to be that casino is a red flag. See what a fake casino app is and our iPhone casino apps hub.
UK rules that follow you onto any iPhone casino app
The App Store controls which apps appear, but the Gambling Commission sets how they work. Every licensed app must verify your age and identity before you deposit or gamble, cap online slot stakes at £5 a spin for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24s, and show net spend and time in real time.
Credit cards can't be used to gamble in Great Britain, so Apple Pay deposits must come from a debit card. Read more in our Apple Pay casino apps guide and browse other casino app questions.

Frequently asked questions
Are casino apps allowed on the UK App Store?
Yes, Apple allows real-money casino apps in the UK if they're licensed where they're used, geo-restricted and free to download. Apple also expects them to be submitted by the company running the service. Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet all have UK listings. Our best casino apps for iPhone page compares them, and download a casino app on iPhone walks through the install.
Why does the App Store say a casino app isn't available in my country?
That usually means your Apple ID is registered to a country where the app isn't published. UK casino apps are geo-restricted to the UK storefront, as Apple's guidelines require for real-money gaming. Check the country or region on your Apple ID. If you're travelling, see can I use a casino app abroad? for why real-money play is location-limited.
Can Screen Time hide casino apps on my iPhone?
Yes. Screen Time content limits can restrict apps above a chosen age rating, and real-money gambling apps are rated 18+. Parents can also block installing apps altogether under the App Store settings. If you set these limits yourself to cut back on gambling, keep them on. Our guide to blocking gambling apps on iPhone explains the options.
Why can I see a casino app but not install it?
Most often your iOS version is below the listing's minimum. Coral and Ladbrokes need iOS 18.0 or later, 10bet needs iOS 16.0 and PlayOJO and Casumo need iOS 15.0. Storage space and Screen Time install blocks are other causes. Check do casino apps work on older iPhones? if your device can't update.
Why is 10bet not in the App Store's Casino category?
Because its app is a combined sportsbook and casino product filed under Sports. The UK listing is called '10bet: Sports Betting & Casino', so searching by name works better than browsing categories. Casumo's iPhone app is also combined, as 'Casumo Casino & Sports Betting'. Our explainer on why sportsbook apps include a casino covers the trade-offs.
Do casino apps on the App Store cost money?
No, Apple's guidelines say real-money gaming apps must be free on the App Store, and in-app purchase can't be used to buy gambling credit. Deposits go through the casino's own cashier, using methods the operator lists, such as debit cards or Apple Pay. See do casino apps have in-app purchases? for how that differs from social casino games.
Can I get a UK casino app on iPad or Mac?
Often, yes. The UK listings for Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and Casumo show iPad compatibility and Apple silicon Macs, marked 'Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS'. 10bet's listing doesn't include Mac. The same iOS or iPadOS minimums apply. Our pages on casino apps on iPad and casino apps on Mac explain the details.
What should I do if a casino brand has no iPhone app?
Use the brand's mobile website in Safari, after checking its licence on the Gambling Commission register. Licensed sites offer the same account and safer-gambling tools as an app. Avoid any unofficial download claiming to be that brand. Our comparison of a native app vs web app helps you decide whether the difference matters.
