Do casino apps have jackpots?

Do casino apps have jackpots? Yes. UK real-money casino apps carry jackpot slots, from games with fixed jackpot prizes to progressive pots shared across many casinos, and PlayOJO's App Store listing names jackpot slots outright. Which jackpots you get depends on the app's lobby, so check that before you install.

Key takeaways

  • Casino apps carry the same jackpot slots as their websites: fixed jackpots, local progressives and network progressives.
  • Gambling Commission rules require jackpot rules, seed and ceiling values to be shown before you play.
  • Jackpot slots often hold back part of the RTP for the pot, so the base game returns less.
  • Coral and Ladbrokes don't list named jackpot games in their store listings, so check the lobby.
  • Jackpot wins are rare by design; set a budget you're happy to lose.

Do casino apps have jackpots? The short answer

Yes. A UK casino app is a front end for the same game lobby you'd see on the operator's website, and jackpot slots are part of that lobby. The Gambling Commission licenses the operator, not the device, so a jackpot game in the app runs under the same rules as on desktop.

What changes from app to app is the selection. One app may lean on network progressives with huge headline pots, another on slots with small fixed jackpots inside a bonus round. The store listings rarely spell this out, which is why a quick look at the jackpot section of the casino app's game lobby tells you more than the download page.

One honest point before going further: jackpots are funded by players' stakes and are won rarely. Treat a jackpot slot as entertainment with a small chance of a big prize, not as a plan to win money. Most sessions on any slot end with less than you started with. For other quick answers, see our casino app questions.

Types of jackpot you'll find in casino apps

“Jackpot” covers several different designs. Knowing which one you're looking at tells you how big the prize can get and where the money comes from.

Jackpot types in UK casino apps
TypeHow the prize worksExample from our slot reviews
Fixed jackpotA set prize, usually a multiple of your stake, inside a bonus featureWolf Gold: its fixed Mega jackpot sits within a 2,500× stake max win
Fixed jackpot pick gameA feature where you pick for one of several set jackpotsMustang Gold: a pick game for one of four fixed jackpots
Local progressivePots that grow inside one gameHolmes and the Stolen Stones: five local progressive jackpots
Network progressiveOne pot fed by many games and casinosMega Moolah: a four-tier jackpot wheel
Studio jackpot networkA studio links many of its own titles to shared potsBlueprint's Jackpot King
Prize promotionPrizes paid by a promotion on top of normal playPragmatic Play's Drops and Wins

A progressive grows by a set share of each qualifying stake. If 1% of every stake goes to the pot, £100,000 of play across all players adds £1,000. When someone wins, the pot drops back to its start-up (seed) value.

Jackpots on the Coral, Ladbrokes and PlayOJO apps

Here is what the three apps' UK store listings actually say, including PlayOJO's App Store listing (opens in a new tab). We only repeat what's published, so where a listing says nothing about jackpots, we say so rather than guess.

What the store listings say about jackpots
App (iOS name)Size and iOSWhat the listing says
Coral Casino: Slots & Games101.6 MB, iOS 18.0+Slots including Megaways and classic fruit machines; jackpots not named
Ladbrokes Casino Games & Slots101.2 MB, iOS 18.0+1,800+ slots, blackjack, roulette; jackpots not named
PlayOJO Real Money Casino25.4 MB, iOS 15.0+Slots, jackpot slots, bingo, table games, live casino

The PlayOJO app is the only one of the three whose listing uses the word “jackpot”. It's also a casino-only brand, so there is no sportsbook in the way. The Coral app and Ladbrokes app are standalone casino apps from Entain under LC International Limited's licence (account 54743), and with large slot lobbies it's reasonable to look for jackpot titles there, but neither listing names one.

So the fair answer for Coral and Ladbrokes is “check the app's game lobby”. Their slot apps are where a jackpot category would appear.

How to find jackpot games in a casino app

You can check what an app offers in a few minutes, and you can look at a game's information screen before you stake anything.

  1. Install the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, using the exact name shown in the table above.
  2. Sign up and complete age verification. UK rules require this before you can deposit or gamble.
  3. Open the slots lobby and look for a jackpot category or filter. If there isn't one, search the lobby for “jackpot”.
  4. Open a game and find its help or information screen, usually behind an “i” or menu icon.
  5. Read the jackpot rules: the RTP, how the jackpot is triggered, whether your stake qualifies, and the seed and ceiling values.
  6. Set a deposit limit before you play, using the limit option in your account settings.

UK rules for jackpots in casino apps

Progressive jackpots in Britain follow the Commission's RTS 9 standard for progressive jackpot systems (opens in a new tab). It applies to a game in an app exactly as it does on a website.

  • Rules before play. The jackpot rules must be clearly available before you commit to gamble, including how the pot is funded and its seed and any ceiling values.
  • RTP shown. The jackpot system's return to player must be displayed, in line with the RTP information rules.
  • Eligibility. If you're not eligible for a game's progressive jackpot, for example at a lower stake, that must be made clear.
  • Live values. Eligible players should be able to see current jackpot values, updated as often as practicable.
  • Fair odds. The chance of winning should rise in line with the amount you contribute.
  • Winner notice. A winner should be told immediately after the jackpot is triggered.

General slot rules apply too. There's no autoplay, each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds, and stakes are capped under the online slot stake limits, which the Commission's stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab) says cover every reel-based online slot.

What a jackpot slot costs per hour, in pounds

A jackpot isn't paid from thin air. Part of each stake is set aside for the pot, so the regular game usually pays back less. Expected loss is stake multiplied by the share the game keeps (100% minus RTP).

Expected cost of 500 spins at 50p (£250 staked)
SlotPublished RTPExpected cost
Divine Fortune96.59% (includes jackpot contribution)£250 × 3.41% = £8.53
Age of the Gods95.02% (includes jackpot contribution)£250 × 4.98% = £12.45
Mega Moolah88.12% (base game, excluding jackpot)£250 × 11.88% = £29.70 before any jackpot return

Five hundred spins at the 2.5-second minimum is about 21 minutes of play, so these are hourly costs of roughly three times the figures shown. The jackpot share of the return mostly goes to the rare winner, so for almost everyone the real session cost is closer to the base-game figure. RTP on mobile is set by the game version, not by the device.

Jackpot myths worth dropping

  • “The app version has smaller jackpots.” A network pot is one pot, whatever device you play on. See are jackpots smaller on casino apps.
  • “A big pot is due to drop.” Outcomes come from an RNG, and a pot's size doesn't make the next spin more likely to win.
  • “Playing at night is luckier.” Time of day has no effect on a random outcome.
  • “A jackpot will cover my losses.” Chasing losses with jackpot spins is how budgets disappear. Stop and use a time-out if you notice it.

Casino apps with jackpot slots and a welcome offer

We work with Coral, Ladbrokes and PlayOJO, and all three run slot-based welcome offers. None is a jackpot offer: the spins are on selected games, so check the terms to see which titles count. All offers are 18+ and terms apply.

  • Coral: new players deposit (certain payment types excluded) and bet £10 or more on slots to get 100 free spins at 10p each on selected games. Accept them within 48 hours; they last 7 days, with no wagering on winnings. Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don't qualify. Runs 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027.
  • Ladbrokes: new customers deposit and spend £10 or more on slots for 50 free spins a day over the first 10 days (500 at most), 10p each on selected games. Claim each day's spins before 23:59; each batch lasts 7 days and has no wagering. Prepaid cards, PayPal, Paysafe, Neteller, Skrill and Moneybookers deposits don't qualify.
  • PlayOJO: new UK customers (not Northern Ireland) who make a first deposit of £10 or more get 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each, with no wagering and winnings paid in cash. Can't be combined with other offers; available only through the designated offer link.

In pounds, the spins are worth £10 (Coral), up to £50 (Ladbrokes) and £8 (PlayOJO) in stake value. Coral and Ladbrokes share an operator, so you may not be able to open new accounts at both.

None of these welcome offers is a jackpot offer: the free spins are on selected slots. 18+, terms apply.

Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open another; check the terms first.

Frequently asked questions

Do casino apps have progressive jackpots?

Yes, many do. A progressive jackpot grows with a share of each qualifying stake until someone wins it, then resets to its seed value. Network progressives such as Mega Moolah pool stakes from many casinos, so the same pot shows in the app and on desktop. Whether a particular app carries one is a lobby question, so search the app for “jackpot” and read the game's rules screen before playing. The jackpot slots guide explains how the different designs compare.

Does the PlayOJO app have jackpot slots?

Its UK App Store listing says so. The listing for PlayOJO Real Money Casino names slots, jackpot slots, bingo, table games and live casino. It doesn't name specific jackpot titles, so open the lobby to see what's currently available. The app is 25.4 MB, needs iOS 15.0 or later and is published by Skill On Net Ltd. Our PlayOJO games page covers the wider lobby and what the operator publishes about it.

Do Coral and Ladbrokes apps have jackpots?

Their store listings don't say. The Coral listing mentions slots including Megaways and classic fruit machines, and the Ladbrokes listing mentions more than 1,800 slots, but neither names a jackpot game or category. Both have large slot lobbies, so check the app's game lobby for a jackpot section. Our Coral games page and Ladbrokes games page summarise what each operator publishes.

Can I use free spins on jackpot slots?

Only if the offer's terms list a jackpot slot among the eligible games. Welcome spins are usually tied to selected games: PlayOJO's welcome spins, for example, are on Big Bass Bonanza. Spins on a jackpot slot may also be excluded from the jackpot itself, and RTS 9 says ineligibility must be made clear. Read the offer terms and the game's jackpot rules together. Our guide to free spins in casino apps explains what to check.

Are jackpot slots worse value than normal slots?

Often the regular game returns less, because part of each stake funds the pot. Mega Moolah's base game RTP is 88.12% before the jackpot contribution, while many non-jackpot slots publish around 96%. That gap mostly goes to the rare jackpot winner, so a typical session costs more. Some jackpot games publish an RTP that includes the jackpot share, such as Divine Fortune at 96.59%. Check the help screen, and see how to find the RTP in a casino app.

Do I pay tax on a jackpot won on a casino app?

No. UK players don't pay tax on gambling winnings, whether the win comes on an app or a website. Operators pay remote gaming duty on their profits instead, at 40% from 1 April 2026. Interest or returns you later earn by investing the money may be taxable in the normal way. Our page on tax on casino app winnings explains this in more detail.

Is a jackpot more likely when the pot is large?

No. Each spin's result comes from a random number generator, and a bigger pot doesn't make the next spin more likely to trigger it. Under RTS 9, the chance of winning is linked to how much you contribute, not to the pot's size or the time since the last win. A large pot only changes what's paid if it does land. Our RNG explainer and house edge page explain why patterns don't help.

Do the slot stake limits apply to jackpot games?

Yes. A jackpot slot is an online slot, so the per-spin limits apply: £5 for players aged 25 and over and £2 for players aged 18 to 24. They've applied since 9 April and 21 May 2025. The limits don't cover other casino games such as roulette or blackjack. See the slot stake limit on apps for how the limit counts within a game cycle.
