Fruit Party slot review

The Fruit Party slot is a 2020 Pragmatic Play game that drops the reels-and-lines idea for a 7×7 grid where clusters of five or more matching fruits pay. Wins tumble away to make room for new symbols, random multipliers can attach to winning clusters, and the published RTP is 96.47% with high volatility and a 5,000× top win.

What is the Fruit Party slot?

Fruit Party is a grid slot: 49 positions arranged seven across and seven down, filled with fruit symbols. Instead of reading wins along lines, it looks for groups of identical symbols that touch each other, which is the mechanic known as cluster pays.

It comes from Pragmatic Play, a studio founded in 2015 and headquartered in Gibraltar, whose catalogue also includes Sweet Bonanza and Gates of Olympus. You can browse the studio’s background on Pragmatic Play’s own site (opens in a new tab).

How the features work

Fruit Party has three moving parts: clusters, tumbles and multipliers. Each one feeds the next.

Clusters of five or more

A win needs at least five matching symbols connected to each other on the grid. Bigger clusters pay more, according to the paytable in the game’s information screen. Symbols that sit apart from the group don’t count.

Tumbles

When a cluster wins, its symbols are removed and new ones drop in from above to fill the gaps. If the new arrangement forms another cluster, that pays too, and the process repeats until no more clusters form. All of this happens within the one spin you paid for.

Random multipliers

In the base game, random multipliers can attach to winning clusters and raise what that cluster pays. They don’t land on every win, which is part of why results swing so much.

Free spins

Scatter symbols trigger the free spins round. During it, any winning cluster can contain multipliers, and when a cluster holds more than one they combine. Landing more scatters during the round retriggers it.

  1. Pay for one spin; the grid fills with 49 symbols.
  2. Any group of five or more touching matches pays, possibly with a multiplier.
  3. Winning symbols vanish and new symbols tumble into the gaps.
  4. Steps 2 and 3 repeat until no new cluster forms, then the spin ends.

Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players. On a UK app, the free spins round is reached only by landing the scatters.

Fruit Party vs Fruit Party 2 and Sugar Rush

Pragmatic has reused the 7×7 cluster grid several times. The three games below share the layout and the 5,000× ceiling, but the multiplier systems differ.

Pragmatic 7×7 cluster slots compared
SlotReleasedRTPVolatilityHow multipliers work
Fruit Party202096.47%HighRandom multipliers attach to winning clusters; they combine in free spins
Fruit Party 2202196.53%HighTumbles and scatter-triggered free spins; check the game’s help screen for multiplier rules
Sugar RushSee our review96.50%HighExploding symbols mark spots; repeat wins there add a multiplier that doubles

If you like the grid but want the multiplier to build in a visible place, Sugar Rush is the closest alternative. Fruit Party 2 keeps the theme with a fractionally higher RTP. For a larger grid, Gems Bonanza uses 8×8.

Fruit Party RTP and what £20 buys you

A 96.47% RTP leaves a house edge of 3.53%. Multiply what you stake by that figure to get the expected long-run cost: £3.53 for each £100 of spins.

With a £20 balance and no returns at all, 10p buys 200 spins, 50p buys 40 and £1 buys 20. Because Fruit Party is high volatility, a lot of spins will return nothing or less than the stake, and a single tumbling sequence with multipliers can return many times it.

Expected cost of 300 Fruit Party spins
StakeSpins from £20Total staked (300 spins)Expected loss (3.53%)
10p200£30£1.06
50p40£150£5.30
£120£300£10.59

Three hundred spins is just an example session length; each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds under UK rules, and tumbles can make some spins run longer. Your actual result will almost certainly differ from the expected figure, in either direction. Read is RTP lower on casino apps? if you’re wondering whether mobile changes this.

Fruit Party max win and UK stake limits

The cap is 5,000× the stake. At 10p that is £500; at £1 it is £5,000. UK stake limits then set the highest figure possible: £10,000 for an 18 to 24-year-old at the £2 limit, and £25,000 for anyone 25 or over at the £5 limit.

Very few rounds come anywhere near the cap. It is useful only as a sense of the game’s range.

Fruit Party on iPhone and Android apps

Fruit Party is an HTML5 game, so it runs inside casino apps on iOS and Android and in phone browsers. A square 7×7 grid has to shrink to fit a phone’s width, so symbols are smaller than on a five-reel slot; turning the phone may help, depending on how the app frames the game. Our guide to landscape vs portrait mode explains what to try.

  1. Sign in to a UK-licensed app once your age and identity checks are done.
  2. Type “Fruit Party” in the lobby search, and make sure you open the original rather than Fruit Party 2.
  3. Tap the information icon in the game and read the RTP and the cluster paytable.
  4. Choose a stake you are comfortable losing in full.
  5. Spin manually; UK apps have no autoplay or turbo.

Lobbies differ between casinos, so check the app’s game lobby before assuming a title is there. Our best slot apps list compares partner apps on slot range and tools, and the mobile slots guide covers screen size, battery and data in general terms.

UK rules that apply to Fruit Party

Fruit Party plays the same way in every UK-licensed app, because the rules sit with the game and the operator rather than the device.

  • £5 maximum stake per spin for players aged 25 and over, and £2 for those aged 18 to 24, from the dates in the Gambling Commission’s stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab).
  • A minimum of 2.5 seconds per spin, with no autoplay, turbo or slam stop.
  • No celebratory effects when a tumbling sequence returns your stake or less.
  • Your net spend and time played on screen in real time.

Operators must also make game rules and the likelihood of winning available to you, under the Commission’s standard on game descriptions (opens in a new tab). That is why the RTP sits in the help screen. See our pages on RTP information rules and autoplay.

Who the Fruit Party slot suits

It suits players who enjoy watching a grid rearrange itself and don’t mind long stretches of small returns between bigger tumbling runs. If you prefer a steady flow of small line wins, a lower-volatility five-reel game will feel calmer.

Advantages

  • Simple cluster rule that is easy to follow on a phone
  • Tumbles can stack several wins from one stake
  • Multipliers combine in free spins
  • 96.47% RTP is in line with modern slots

Drawbacks

  • High volatility: dry spells are common
  • Small symbols on narrow screens
  • Sequels with similar grids can be confused in lobbies
  • No bonus buy on UK apps, so the round can take a long time to arrive

Frequently asked questions

What RTP does the Fruit Party slot pay?

The published RTP for Fruit Party is 96.47%, which means a house edge of 3.53%. Over a very large number of spins, the game is designed to return about £96.47 for every £100 staked, though any single session can be far above or below that. Apps don’t lower RTP by default, but check the figure in the game’s help screen. Our RTP-finding guide walks through the help screens.

How does cluster pays work in Fruit Party?

Cluster pays means you win when five or more identical symbols touch each other anywhere on the 7×7 grid. There are no paylines to follow. After a win, the cluster disappears and new symbols tumble in, which can form fresh clusters within the same spin. Larger clusters pay more, as set out in the paytable. Our cluster pays glossary entry explains the idea in more depth.

What is the max win on Fruit Party?

Fruit Party’s maximum win is 5,000× your stake. That is £500 at 10p and £5,000 at £1. The UK stake limit is £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over, which makes £25,000 the highest possible figure; for players aged 18 to 24, the £2 limit makes it £10,000. Reaching the cap is extremely rare. See our page on online slot stake limits.

What is the difference between Fruit Party and Fruit Party 2?

Both are Pragmatic Play cluster-pays games on a 7×7 grid with tumbles and a 5,000× cap. Fruit Party came out in 2020 with a 96.47% RTP; Fruit Party 2 followed in 2021 at 96.53%. The way multipliers appear differs, so read each game’s information screen before playing. Our Fruit Party 2 review covers the sequel.

Can you buy the bonus in Fruit Party in the UK?

No. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players, so UK casino apps don’t show a bonus buy option on Fruit Party. You reach free spins only by landing the scatter symbols during normal play. Our page on game design rules covers the other features that work differently for UK players.

Is Fruit Party high volatility?

Yes, Fruit Party is rated high volatility. That means wins are less frequent but can be larger, especially when tumbles and multipliers line up in free spins. On a £20 budget, a 10p stake gives 200 spins before the money runs out if nothing returns, compared with 20 spins at £1. Read what volatility means on a slot app for more.

Does Fruit Party work on a phone?

Yes. Fruit Party is built in HTML5 and runs in iPhone and Android casino apps and in mobile browsers. The square grid makes symbols fairly small on a narrow screen, so some players prefer a larger phone or a tablet. Whether a particular app carries the game depends on its lobby. Our Android casino apps list compares the partner apps.

Who makes the Fruit Party slot?

Fruit Party is made by Pragmatic Play, a studio founded in 2015 with its headquarters in Gibraltar. It holds a Gambling Commission licence and supplies slots, live casino and other games to many UK casino apps. Its best-known titles include Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza. Find more of its games on our Pragmatic Play slots page.
