Floating Dragon slot overview

Floating Dragon is a 5x3 slot with 10 fixed lines, built by Reel Kingdom and distributed through Pragmatic Play. Reel Kingdom is the studio behind the Big Bass series, and you can see that heritage in the free spins, where a wild gathers up the cash values of fish symbols.

That 96.71% default figure is one Reel Kingdom uses on several of its games. As with any default, a casino may run a different approved version, so confirm it in the game's rules screen. More reviews like this sit in our slots section.

How the features work in Floating Dragon

Hold & Spin

Hold & Spin starts when three money symbols land on the middle reel. Those symbols lock in place and you get three respins. Each time another money symbol lands, it locks too and the respin count resets to three. The round ends when three respins pass with nothing new, and the values on the locked symbols are paid.

It is the same idea as other hold and win features: the more symbols that arrive before the counter runs out, the bigger the total. How the cash values are distributed is set in the paytable.

Free spins and the collecting wild

Scatter symbols trigger free spins, and the number of scatters decides the length of the round:

Floating Dragon free spins by scatter count
Scatters landedFree spins awarded
310
415
520

During free spins, any wild that lands collects the values of all the fish money symbols in view. Gathering more wilds or scatters during the round moves you up through levels, each adding extra spins and a higher multiplier on what the wild collects. If you have read our Big Bass Bonanza review, the structure will look familiar.

UK players can't buy their way into either feature. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players.

Floating Dragon max win in pounds

The published top prize is 5,000x your stake. Here is what that means at common UK stakes, including the £2 and £5 caps that apply by age. These are ceilings, reached only in rare outcomes, not targets.

Floating Dragon 5,000x max win by stake
Stake per spin5,000x max win
10p£500
50p£2,500
£1£5,000
£2 (cap for ages 18–24)£10,000
£5 (cap for ages 25+)£25,000

Compared with some newer titles, 5,000x is a moderate ceiling. Reel Kingdom's Big Bass Amazon Xtreme lists 10,000x, for example, but with very high volatility to match.

Floating Dragon RTP and volatility with £20

With a 3.29% house edge, Floating Dragon's long-run cost is on the lower side for a modern slot. That doesn't stop high volatility from shaping each session: much of the return arrives through the two features, which may not trigger at all in a short session.

£20 on Floating Dragon at three stakes
StakeSpins from £20 with no winsTotal staked in 100 spinsAverage cost over 100 spins
10p200£10£0.33
50p40£50£1.65
£120£100£3.29

The averages look gentle, but a high-volatility game rarely follows them over 20 or 40 spins. A 10p stake gives the game 200 spins to land a feature from £20; at £1 you have just 20 chances. Pick the stake that lets you enjoy the time you have budgeted, and remember the house edge means losses are likely over time. Our guide to RTP and our page on volatility explain both measures.

How to play the Floating Dragon slot on a phone

A 5x3 grid with 10 lines is about as phone-friendly as slots get: the symbols stay large, and the Hold & Spin round is easy to follow. The game is HTML5, so it runs inside casino apps and mobile browsers on iPhone and Android. Orientation depends on the casino's game window.

  1. Pick a UK-licensed app and install it from the App Store or Google Play; our best casino apps for iPhone and Android lists can help.
  2. Register and pass the age and identity checks, which UK casinos must complete before you deposit or play demo games.
  3. When the app asks you to set a financial limit before your first deposit, pick one that fits your budget.
  4. Search the lobby for Floating Dragon; if it doesn't appear, the app doesn't offer it.
  5. Open the game's info panel and check the RTP shown against 96.71%.
  6. Choose a stake within your budget and press spin for each round.

If you play on mobile data, our guide to casino app data usage explains what uses the most.

UK rules for Floating Dragon in casino apps

Under the Gambling Commission's online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab), the most you can stake on Floating Dragon is £5 a spin from age 25 and £2 a spin from 18 to 24. Those limits started on 9 April 2025 and 21 May 2025.

Slot design rules in force since 31 October 2021 also apply: no autoplay, a minimum of 2.5 seconds per spin, no turbo or slam-stop, and no celebration of a return that doesn't beat your stake. Since 17 January 2025, your net spend and time played must be shown as you play, under RTS 14 on responsible product design (opens in a new tab). Our explainer on the 2.5 second rule covers why spins can't be rushed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Floating Dragon?

Floating Dragon's default RTP is 96.71%, so the average long-run cost is £3.29 per £100 staked. Because it is a default, a casino can run another approved version, and the in-game info screen tells you which one. Device doesn't matter: the app runs the same game as the website. For where that screen sits, use our walkthrough on finding a game's RTP in an app.

How do you trigger Hold & Spin on Floating Dragon?

Hold & Spin starts when three money symbols land on the middle reel in the same spin. They lock in place and you get three respins, with the count going back to three each time another money symbol lands. When the respins run out, the locked values are paid. Our hold and win glossary entry explains how this kind of feature works in other games too.

How many free spins can you get on Floating Dragon?

Three scatters award 10 free spins, four award 15 and five award 20. During the round, wilds collect the values of fish money symbols in view, and gathering more wilds or scatters moves you up levels with extra spins and higher multipliers. These in-game spins are part of the slot, not a promotion; see free spins in casino apps for the difference.

What is the max win on Floating Dragon?

The maximum win is 5,000x your stake. That works out at £500 on a 10p spin, £5,000 on a £1 spin and £25,000 at the £5 UK maximum for players aged 25 and over. It is a rare ceiling, not a likely result, and high volatility means most sessions end well short of it. Compare ceilings across games in our slot reviews.

Is Floating Dragon a Pragmatic Play slot?

It is made by Reel Kingdom and distributed by Pragmatic Play, which is why it often appears under Pragmatic Play in casino lobbies. Reel Kingdom is best known for the Big Bass series, which began with Big Bass Bonanza on 14 December 2020. Our Reel Kingdom page and Pragmatic Play page list the games we cover from each.

Is Floating Dragon like Big Bass Bonanza?

Partly. Both come from Reel Kingdom, both use a 5x3 grid with 10 lines, and both have free spins where a wild collects the cash values of fish symbols. Floating Dragon adds a Hold & Spin round in the base game and has a higher published max win, 5,000x against 2,100x. Read our Big Bass Bonanza review to compare them in detail.

Can I play Floating Dragon on my phone?

It can, provided your casino app lists it. Floating Dragon is an HTML5 game, so it runs in iPhone and Android casino apps and in mobile browsers with no separate download, and its 5x3 grid is easy to read on a small screen. Search the lobby by name. Our guide to slots on mobile has more on screen, data and battery use.

What is the most I can bet on Floating Dragon in the UK?

The legal maximum is £5 per spin if you are 25 or older and £2 per spin if you are aged 18 to 24. These Gambling Commission stake limits cover all online slots and took effect on 9 April 2025 and 21 May 2025. A casino can set a lower maximum of its own. Our slot stake limits guide gives worked examples.
